New Haven man accused of setting mattress on fire

Story by Jareliz Diaz
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A New Haven man was charged with arson after he allegedly set a mattress on fire Thursday, according to city police.

Police said it happened around 10:19 p.m. at Liberty Safe Haven in the area of State Street. Police said a mattress was set on fire in an apartment on the fourth floor.

As a result, the unit suffered fire damage, and several other units had water damage, police said.

Police said they worked with building staff and determined the fire was allegedly “intentionally” set by 45-year-old Doel Tirado, who lived in the apartment. They located him without incident.

Tirado was charged with first-degree arson and first-degree reckless endangerment.

He also had two outstanding arrest warrants for violating probation and second-degree failure to appear.

He’s being held on combined bonds totaling $65,500.

The pic explains much.

In our inner cities, where firearms are outlawed, only outlaws are armed. When our “philosopher kings” sit back and do nothing, this is the tyranny and terror of “gun control.”
