France Demands US Ambassador’s Presence, Snubbed

US Ambassador Charles Kushner

Eleven individuals, including an aide to a French far-left lawmaker, have been arrested in France on suspicion of involvement in the killing of right-wing nationalist Quentin Deranque. He died after being beaten by far-left activists of the France Unbowed (LFI) party outside a conference center in Lyon. The incident exacerbated a climate of deep political tension ahead of next year’s presidential election.

Speaking to reporters, LFI’s national coordinator Manuel Bompard said his party was in no way responsible for Deranque’s death, and that it now felt threatened itself.

In a post on X, the US State Department’s Counterterrorism Bureau said, “…violent radical leftism is on the rise and its role in Quentin Deranque’s death demonstrates the threat it poses to public safety.”

French authorities objected to the statement, arguing that it amounted to interference in France’s domestic political debate and legal processes and demanded U.S. Ambassador Charles Kushner’s presence at Quai d’Orsay.

Kushner ignored them.

France ups the ante in spat with US ambassador, says ministers will no longer meet him

By JOHN LEICESTER

PARIS (AP) — France’s spat with the U.S. ambassador to Paris took another turn Tuesday with the French foreign minister saying the top U.S. diplomat in France must respond to a summons and won’t have access to French government officials until he complies.

French authorities had summoned Ambassador Charles Kushner — the father of U.S. President Donald Trump ’s son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner — for a meeting on Monday over comments from the Trump administration that France objected to. But Kushner did not show up, the foreign ministry said.

The U.S. Embassy did not immediately respond to repeated requests for comment.

Speaking Tuesday, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot described the failure to attend the meeting as “a surprise” that flew in the face of diplomatic protocol and will dent Charles Kushner’s ability to serve as an ambassador.

“It will, naturally, affect his capacity to exercise his mission in our country,” Barrot said, speaking to public broadcaster France Info.

This isn’t Kushner’s first rodeo. He was summoned last August over a letter he penned to French President Macron, decrying his lack of resolve in combatting antisemitism and calling attention to France’s intended recognition of a Palestinian state.

He ignored that one too.

I 💯 percent guarantee the French government and/or diplomatic corps has said FAR worse about America, Trump, Republicans, etc., in various public venues without Monsieur Froggy being called to account by perpetually offended Americans in DC.

Kushner should man up, respond to the summons, look Frenchy square in the eye and tell him, “the United States recognizes the rise of violent leftism in France and encourages you to do the same.”

It’s also stupid. If we called the french ambassador, we would expect him to show. If they call us, show. They can say FU to French Fry guy’s face, but show.

France has been sticking it’s nose in our business since 1796 when they tried to run The Federalists out of the White House. It failed when George Washington mentioned it in his farewell address.

It is how we ended up with the Aliens and Seditions Act.

Hey, Jean-Noël Barrot:
you’ve been eating too many snails, it has impaired your ability to think.

(By the way, aren’t snails haram?)

Get your oversized nose out of you nether regions and go deal with the left-wing terrorists and child rapists in your country.

I’m wondering, how much US money is normally sent to help the frogs in their normal day to day activities each month? It would be a shame if the checks were delayed or stopped.

As to ambassadorial relations, it’s not like the frogs have been a reliable partner since the late 40’s so I’m thinking not much would be lost if no real contact was made between embassies in France.
