I must have watched the 1949 movie Battlground over a half dozen times over the years and a large number of the extras were vets from the battle of the Bulge..

The inflight version was not “edited”? Back when everyone watched the same film on one screen in the cabin, any “offensive” content was deleted from the film. Hack recalls flying to Okinawa for the second time, and one of the films was Don’t Tell Mom The Babysitter Is Dead. There was one scene where some transvestites steal the kids automobile, but that scene did not make the inflight version.

I’ll never forget my first black ice experience, on a bridge in Arkansas. You have NO control over the vectors your vehicle will assume.
I was going relatively slow, maybe 45. There was oncoming traffic but they were at the other end of the bridge and I think that they saw me episode from beginning to end.
On the uptick, the truck didn’t hit anything though we traveled in multiple directions.
Have also had that experience on a motorcycle and lived to remember it. That was real scary.
In keeping with the ever present and immortal phrase passed down through centuries of deployed Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen all through the world…

I saw bob hope on the above link from USO in Viet Of the Nam and he did a USO on my old ship while it was over their after I was separated stateside in Nov of 1966. We did have the Lennon Sisters USO act onboard when when we were down in Santo Domingo in May of 1965 during the revolution.
The 1971 Bob Hope USO show I was able to go to at Camp Eagle was pretty good. He usually had some hot chickees for us to look at, but that year we got Johnny Bench and Vida Blue. /s

BK trailer? Lol when I left Bagram in July ‘02, the chow hall was still new.
SFC D is 100% spot on and nailed it about life in Bagram in 2002. No BK trailer. No fast food. Consumed lots of MRE as well as mystery meat from the canvas covered Mess Hall supported by the 1st COSCOM out of Fort Bragg.
Good Times. IMHO, better than Baghdad, Mosel, Kandahar or even K2 at Uzbekistan.
