Michigan man who shot shovel-wielding man acted in self-defense, police say

A 60-year-old Michigan man who shot another man who attacked him with a shovel acted in self-defense, authorities said.
The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of Douglas Avenue in Kalamazoo.
Police say a 60-year-old man returned a ladder to a home in the 1100 block of Douglas when he was approached by a 49-year-old man holding a snow shovel and told to leave the area. The 49-year-old then shoved the 60-year-old and hit him with the shovel, causing a minor injury, police said.
During the alleged assault, the 60-year-old fired two rounds, hitting the 49-year-old twice, before calling police and waiting for officers to arrive.
The man who was shot was taken to an area hospital, where he is in stable condition, police said.
Police recovered the shovel used in the assault, two 9mm shell casings and a handgun.
The man who fired the shots is cooperating with police and used a handgun that is legally owned and registered. Investigators say video obtained by detectives supports the man’s account of the incident.

Sheesh! Try to do a good deed and return what you borrowed, and get attacked by a nutcase.
No good deed goes unpunished.
On the other hand, one less nutcase to disturb the neighborhood. Maybe said nutcase will now get the help he needs (quiet & meds) while in jail.

Nice gun, but it doesn’t like high pressures. I cracked the slide (which I still have) on a reloaded round.

The only Walther I’ll own (IYKYK) is the P38 Dad took off a German artillery officer.
No +P rounds at all go though that. In fact, I’ll only use ball ammo in that. I’m not sure modern bullets would feed well in it.
Despite the lawyer-proof DA trigger, it shoots well. And it was Dad’s.
Many 9mms don’t like +Ps – the HiPowers for instance.
If you must get a Walther .22, the P22 is actually pretty decent – and the magazines can be modified to give a 13 round capacity in a gun smaller than the PPK.
I bought a Walther PPK/S .22.

That went back to the repair shop three times. They wanted to blame everything but the pistol for being a piece of crap.
Three times.
When they finally got it working (although the trigger was still something only a corporate lawyer would love) I sold that piece of crap and got me a Ruger SR22.
Worked first time. Works every time.
My disdain for Walther and the repair shop is strong.
