Harvard is defiant against the Trump administration’s action against it
President Donald Trump took to Truth Social and asked about foreign countries not paying for the education of their citizens attending Harvard. Trump criticized the fact that Harvard, like other universities, requested federal grants from the U.S. government. Harvard’s staff is doubling down on actions that the Trump administration wants them to discontinue.
From Fox News:
“Why isn’t Harvard saying that almost 31% of their students are from FOREIGN LANDS, and yet those countries, some not at all friendly to the United States, pay NOTHING toward their student’s education, nor do they ever intend to,” Trump wrote early Sunday morning on Truth Social. “Nobody told us that!”
“We want to know who those foreign students are, a reasonable request since we give Harvard BILLIONS OF DOLLARS, but Harvard isn’t exactly forthcoming,” he continued. “We want those names and countries. Harvard has $52,000,000, use it, and stop asking for the Federal Government to continue GRANTING money to you!”
On Friday, a judge temporarily blocked the administration from canceling Harvard’s student visa program after the university filed a lawsuit against the federal government.
Harvard argued that the policy would affect more than 7,000 visa holders — nearly a quarter of the student body — and that the administration’s effort is a “blatant violation of the First Amendment, the Due Process Clause, and the Administrative Procedure Act,” according to its court filing.
“It is the latest act by the government in clear retaliation for Harvard exercising its First Amendment rights to reject the government’s demands to control Harvard’s governance, curriculum, and the ‘ideology’ of its faculty and students,” Harvard wrote in its complaint.

Ted Cruz has it right:

The Current is just a leftist rag which can get for free at many restaurants and clubs.
The difference between Cruz and Magione is Cruz had conservative values and was able to resist the indoctination of the Ivy League. Magione was a leftest to start and the Ivy League just reinforced his values.
Agreed.
But Cruz is a turd. Need a new person in there. Red or Blue. Do not really care. Something is better than than him.
He is a clown.
How so?
Honest question.
What’s wrong with Cruz?
He is right of center and that is no good for green thumb.
I don’t like everything about him, but he is better than most. I don’t expect to agree on everything. That is reserved for my wife
!
But rarely do I watch him in a hearing, and disagree with what he is saying!
Replace him with someone better? OK! That is absolutely not going to be a “Blue” politician!
You know he is representing the same area as Jasmine Crockett, right? Blue, like that????
NO THANKS!!!!
Lion Ted is one of the good ones. Turtle Mitch and Crying Chuck did their damdest & hundreds of millions to get Ted unseated from the Senate.
True, Current is leftarded, but they had the link to Cruz’s Twitter post.
“Leftism is a mental disease.”– anyone disagree?
Nope, not me, liberals prove that statement true day after day with their words and deeds!
Here’s an AZ Central article with such questions of universities’ crap today:

I shouldn’t have to pay for anyone’s education…’specially a foreigner’s. Nobody paid for mine. Phuque ’em!
Hack Stone made it to 61 years of age before incurring any student debt. Thanks, Joe Biden.
Hack Stone is only 61?
I thought Hack Stone was as old as KoB!
No, just his Red Hat Software.
Never had any.
GI Bill!
“GI Bill!”
VA loaned me the money to go to college and I paid
it back with interest. An ancient concept today.
When I graduated in 1996 I had $1800 in student loan debt and a bank payoff time line of 10 years with an interest rate of 8%. But I took my degree in finance so by 1997 my total was $0.
I likely would have had zero debt but a poor choice in a starter marriage cleaned me out right before I started college.
“poor choice in a starter marriage”
A tale as old as time indeed…sorry you are part of that club…a lesson unpleasant in every way.
If Trump stops federal money from being used to pay for the education of foreigners how will they spread National Socialism and anti semitism around the planet? Trump is Nazi isn’t he? I’m so confused.
Harvard doesn’t have to comply with President Trump’s requests, and the current administration does not need to continue giving billions of taxpayer dollars to Harvard, nor grant student visas. Harvard needs the federal government more than the federal government needs Harvard.
No one needs Harvard. The name and prestige (the REAL prestige) went POOF! looooooong ago.
Right around when they required a remedial maffs course for freshmen.
Kinda gives the diploma mill game away: Here’s a worthless degree and thousands in student debt, True Believer. Have a nice life.
They attribute the remedial math courses to COVID learning loss due to e-learning.
Their remedial math courses are pretty tough though. Students are expected to show up with at least basic understanding of calculus and Euclidean math.
Speaking of integrity on admissions, what happened to ‘lil Davie Hoggie’s admission to that leftist indoctrination dump?
Lil Davie is busy getting kicked out of his cash flow at the DNC.
And, Lil Davie still has a stiffy for Jazmine Crockett.
But does jasmine have a stiff for davie?
Jazmine would kick the Hogg-Boi’s ass all over any town they ended up in. Then she’d introduce him to her personal dildo.
I always figured “Sarah” McBride would be more Hogg boi’s style..
The prestige of an Ivy League education is all but evaporated, and they did it to themselves. The only thing coming out of those schools is radical Left Wing/terrorist supporting ideologs with purple hair and nose rings. I see graduates shredding their diplomas in protest, but the should be saving them to burn for heat when their living on the streets. Nobody needs an Modern Lesbian Dance Theory with Colonial Economics major doing anything but making a coffee. They’ll be on the streets once the first AI baristas are introduced.
Ivy League schools produce nothing of value. Their reputations and prestige are gone.
Kids burning diplomas should be removed from the school’s alumni rolls and have their graduate statuses revoked — if they wanna play hardball.
“Their reputations and prestige are gone.”
They have always been overrated. In days gone by they used to brag about their entrance requirements; only the “best and brightest”, hard-working, smart, well-educated and motivated students were allowed in, and four years and an outrageous amount of money later Harvard et al. took credit for producing hard-working, smart, well-educated and motivated graduates. Basically the opposite of the (relatively) ancient computer programming mantra “Garbage In, Garbage Out” (GIGO). Not that big a deal. Now, if they had instead “Made a silk purse out of a sow’s ear” by taking dull, unmotivated, poorly prepared students and turned them into outstanding individuals they would have had something to brag about.
Harvard has enough money in endowments to pay 100% tuition for all accepted students for the next century. They can fuck themselves.
Worthless piece of paper anyway.
Yep. Let them dip into that tax free endowment to see how serious they are about educating the less fortunate.
Trump doesn’t actually have to win with respect to the visa program at Harvard to win at harming the school. To me this sounds like a classic FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) campaign. It’s enough to make people thinking about applying to Harvard worry about it and apply to a different school. There are *lots* of places for foreign students to apply — why would they go to a school that *might* end up cutting them off halfway through. I’m still not sure why Trump has decided to make Harvard his target, and why he’s so hostile (compared to places like Columbia or Penn), but the mere fact that he’s focusing so much on Harvard is deadly, regardless of whether he “wins” on all fronts or not.
This is the extent to which our “higher learning” institutions have fallen. While certain schools have name recognition and/or are considered “prestigious”, it’s all a big grift. Pay us money and we’ll give you a piece of paper. Now, if Big Gov is willing to foot the bill, they aren’t even necessarily worried about getting your money. Well, not the students’ money, at least, it falls to the taxpayers to foot the bill. With nearly 1/3rd of Harvard’s students being non-American, where’s the incentive for US to pay for their education?
College still holds some tangible value to the minority of people who need further education to pursue their careers. STEM programs can be valuable (though I’d argue that the piece of paper doesn’t make the scientist or engineer), and professional fields like medicine and law require advanced studies. I don’t want a GED holder representing me in a self-defense case, nor do I want him repairing my inevitable next hernia.
Most of us, though, just want the piece of paper to make our resume look fancier. My online degree in Criminal Justice from Post University isn’t necessarily any better than a degree in Women’s Studies from a little-known state university. Now, if it says “Harvard” or “Yale” on it, I’m considered a prestigious scholar. If it’s from LSU (or whatever the “big” school is in your region), it holds a bit more weight than some others. In the end, though, it’s a piece of paper that claims I spent x number of semesters studying and passed the requisite exams to graduate.
What really matters to the schools, especially private ones, is that they get paid. Ivy League schools just have a longer history and can demand much more money. I guess I can do some SV-esque embellishment on my resume, though: Post is only about 30 miles from Yale (I’ve never even been to CT), and I did my Master Resilience Trainer course through a UPenn program… Kidding, of course.
I have a Doctor of Divinity Degree trough Thunderwood College.
I earned it through a tough application process of less than two minutes on the Skeptoid blog site a few years ago.
The place doesn’t exist, and the degree is worthless, but I have a diploma, and I could throw that onto a resume’ and I’m willing to bet nobody would check it.
So, I’d appreciate it if you lower class odd-balls would refer to me as DOCTOR Skivvy Stacker.
AH, Whats up Doc,
I to have a degree and it’s from Doo Wopp University.Later Alligator..
I have a BS in Dudeist Studies and a PhD in Leisure Studies from Abide University.
Very impressive education!!!
I think that that curriculum involves common sense, so that removes most, if not all of modern undergraduate studies!
It’s quite a broad curriculum.
https://aui.me/
BTW,, I have a PhD!
It’s in the barn!
Post Hole Digger!
You can pahk ya cah in Hahvad yahd.
But don’t go in the ditch like Donna.
Harvard is a private school, and as such, they should have to operate on private funds. They have a semi-reputable business school, they should be able to figure out a way to make it work.
Their business plan just went down the drain. And so did their drain on the taxpayer. *snickers*
The government should not be giving our tax money to colleges. Unless it is for specific research. Universities still do a high percentage of our national research capability.
“….blatant violation of the First Amendment….. ”
Sorry Hahvahd, you have that wrong way ’round. The 1A only says that Teh Gooberment shall pass no laws restricting freedom of speech, NOT that Teh Gooberment had to pay for it with taxpayer dollars.
No one is telling you what to say/not say (unlike under the BiteMe Administration), just that Teh Gooberment under PDJT47 will no longer pay for it.
So spout away, Hahvahd, say what you wanna say. But do it on YOUR OWN dime, not mine.
As for your other two ass-ertions in your phony-balony lawsuit, the Due Process Clause, and the Administrative Procedure Act, if the 1A part is false, I’ll take these other two parts as equally false.
If PDJT does decide to cut off your foreign students visas, and FedGov money, what will you do about it? Just because what happened in the past is tradition, doesn’t make it law. Even if there’s a law, doesn’t mean that law can’t be modified, revoked, or repealed (see “tradition” above) .
The actions are blatantly unconstitutional.
Petty bitch of a president.
Please, pray tell, just where in the Constitution does it say that the American taxpayer is responsible for financing Harvard? Or any other school?
Try and do better!
Nobody cares what you think. You’ve been wrong 100% of the time, like your messiah Biden— soooo… maybe sit this one out, you pine cone.
So it’s safe to assume you are 100% in favor of Harvard’s blatant antisemitism and flaunting of federal hiring laws? Good to know.
You only say “The actions being taken are blatantly unconstitutional” because you and the ideology you’re aligned with emulate people like Eyad Ismoil and Hani Hanjour.
Do some research on the Students and Exchange Visitors Program and learn something before setting your fingers to a keyboard and making unsupported, unsubstantiated, and undefendable comments.
