Donald Trump versus Volodymr Zelenskyy: Debate in White House

| March 2, 2025 | 45 Comments

On February 28, 2025, Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelenskyy and U.S. President Donald Trump were set to discuss a minerals deal that would be a part of securing peace in Ukraine. Trump’s plans for ending the war included allowing US organizations to work with Ukrainian organizations in an economic partnership. The establishment of US economic interests in Ukraine would lead to a security guarantee due to US economic interests in that country. During the meeting, the discussions turned into a debate.

From NBC News:

The Oval Office shouting match has for now shattered hopes for the minerals deal, which Trump and his allies had presented as an important step forward for Ukraine on the road to peace with Russia more than three years after the war began.

“He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office,” Trump said in a post on his Truth Social website after the meeting ended. “He can come back when he is ready for Peace.”

Trump dug in further hours later, telling reporters that Zelenskyy “overplayed his hand” and accusing the Ukrainian president of “looking to go on and fight, fight, fight.”

“We’re not looking for somebody that’s going to sign up a strong power and then not make peace because they feel emboldened,” Trump said. “We’re not looking to go into a 10-year war and play games. We want peace.”

After departing the White House, Zelenskyy posted on X, “Thank you America, thank you for your support, thank you for this visit. Thank you @POTUS, Congress, and the American people. Ukraine needs just and lasting peace, and we are working exactly for that.”

During a Fox News interview Friday evening, Zelenskyy reiterated his appreciation of U.S. support but rebuffed calls to apologize for his comments at the White House.

“I think that we have to be very open and very honest. And I’m not sure that we did something bad,” Zelenskyy said.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio is among the Trump allies who have called on Zelenskyy to issue an apology, telling CNN in an interview Friday night that Zelensky should “apologize for turning this thing into the fiasco for him that it became.”

“There was no need for him to go in there and become antagonistic,” Rubio said. “We were hoping that that meeting would begin by: ‘Thank you for everything you’ve done for us. We wouldn’t be where we are today without you. We wouldn’t even have a chance to negotiate a piece without the help you gave us.'”

Despite Trump’s assertion that Zelenskyy “doesn’t have the cards” to negotiate, the Ukrainian leader remained adamant Friday night that security guarantees be included in any agreement to end the war, as well as the rare earth minerals deal drafted by the Trump administration.

The security guarantees, he added in the Fox News interview, are critical given what he described as a long history of Russian President Vladimir Putin disregarding ceasefire agreements.

Democrats…

Hack Stone

One of Hack’s many Left leaning Facebook friends posted a meme from some European wienie as to (Hack had to slip that one in) the Europeans contributing so much more than America. Great, go bang on your neighbors door asking for a cup of sugar instead of hopping into your car, driving over the river, and asking some random guy (country) to do you a solid. In case Zelenskyy missed the news, the days of Joe Biden sending billions to him with no accountability of where it is going ended on January 20, 2025.

Yup, Democrats and RINOs talked him into it… they f*ck everything the touch up:

Hey seagull! Comes explain this part of your Russia, Russia, Russia fantasy…

You, like all demonrats hate this nation, and are a direct threat to it.

Anonymous

Yes, c’mon, Lars… how come Democrats and their proggie Globalist cronies (you know, your side) want to start another World War in Europe? Didn’t they have enough with the last two?

Fyrfighter

Nope, because their first string ( nazis ) didn’t win, and their second string ( commies) got put in check, to some extant by western powers.. of course both of those are really just fronts for the “elites ” who thought back then, and still do, that they are our betters, and want to see us all on our knees ( no, not in the same way as Kamala… well, ok, maybe that too..)

We know which bunch Soros preferred:

Yep, and he damn sure raised his son to be a nazi too.

Yup, Kurt Schlicter knows, too… Americans told a foreign gov’t to defy America, they don’t give a sh*t about our country or its interests:

Anything to embarrass Donald. They can’t control him, but they try to do their best to make him look stupid.

Lots of people not buying their shtick any longer, and see right through their BS.

HT3

He forgot who he is dealing with…
The saying “He came in for check but a reality check instead” has been floating around ever since. 3 years is long enough.

I was sympathetic to the Ukrainian cause early on, my wife’s family has Ukrainian heritage and we were married in a Ukrainian Orthodox Church, but the war is continuing for continuing’s sake. How many more people need to die needlessly? When is Ben Stiller going send his 19 year old son to the front lines?

The US is just an enabler funding and addict’s bad behavior. Europe claims they’ll fund the continuing war, but they ain’t got those deep pockets. The cries from the EU is a knee-jerk reaction to Trump. If he’d cut Zelensky a blank check, they would be screaming for peace.

Putin is looking for an off-ramp, but the EU isn’t finished spilling Ukrainian blood in a no-win situation. Trump is only leader with the leverage to hammer out a deal. The sooner the EU/Canada realize that the more lives will be saved.

And, now, Hunter… as posted here earlier:

A Proud Infidel®™

IMHO Zelensky is acting like a spoiled child who got told “NO!” when asking for a second helping of cookies and ice cream, he found out the hard way that the gravy train has stopped. And IF he loves his country like he claims, then why has he halted elections?

STSC(SW/SS)

Any politician wether they are in the US or the EU and want to guarentee the security of the Ukraine should send their sons and daughters first. After that, they can go.

The lame stream media had a nice time giving their B.S. Joseph Goebbels speaches aboyt the meeting. Yesterdays new york shitty daily news, I mean rag had the front page headline reading that President Trump lost his cool which he didn’t. Sis reads the daily rag every morning but isn’t involved in politics. She can’t seem to realize that she is now in Florida and not in new york shity anymore since 2011.

The little dicktater could at least get a suit with the billions he has skimmed. USAID did send a bunch of them to Paris Fashion Week, he could have found one there.

The startrek shirt was nice.

Issue him a Red Shirt, then beam him down. These problems have a habit of resolving themselves.

He could, at least, have worn the Multicam/OCP blouse (to go with the pants) over it.

The cookie jar is closed, ZMan…go cry in your spilled milk. Diaper Dood and your cokehead buddy are gone, too. Sucks to be you right now, don’t it. I’d avoid tall building if I were you. You may even want to rethink going back to the ‘Kraine for awhile. Is your wife’s new car and designer clothes still there? Use your offshore bank account $s to buy her some more.

Yep…The following meme neither confirms nor denies the existence of an “E-4 Mafia”…

Mr. VP E-4 Maf…err…Vance, didn’t want the sissy punk ZMan to have involuntary bodily evacuations on the White House Furniture. No need to make the clean up staff work harder. I personally applaud VP Vance on his restraint, tho a real good bitch slap was in order. Jus’ sayin’…

Someone needs to translate the ancient western proverb “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you” into Ukrainian.

Zelensky also needs to put his clown suit and alleged comedy act back in the closet and put on some big boy clothes. Another ancient saying, “When in Rome, do as the Romans do”.

Another year or so of his act and there might be a change in leadership, with or without an election.

Odie

I’d be willing to bet it will take less than a year. Probably a few weeks.

Odie

Let all of the zelensky fan club support his war effort. The guy front left looking for incoming rounds apparently.

Security guarantees? Does he have any idea just how entrenched the US is throughout “europe”? There has to be at least 100 military installation within Germany, alone.

If America works a deal for mineral extraction, somehow I think there will be a substantial investment. No less, the strategic location for American interests is probably not lost on Putin even if it is on “resistance” guy in the black sweater.

What “europe” needs (a pogrom) is more essential than what Zelensky wants.

I liked the part where Trump expressed an interest in a minerals deal with Putin. Playing one snake against another. The art of the deal.

If anybody you know starts saying “we” should keep fighting in Ukraine, you can give them this this video of Ukrainian Recruiters in action. Its time to end the needless slaughter.

Lars, job opportunity… put your money where your mouth is?

I, for one, am totally fine with fighting the Russians using Ukrainian combat forces. I hunted Russian Sailors for a living. Russia has never been our friend and seemingly never will be. We struck a deal long ago because Nazi’s sucked even more than Communists. It is a sad day when we throw down with Russia. So much for prevailing in the Cold War.
