Coroner IDs home invasion suspect shot, killed by homeowner in Florence County
An altercation in the Pee Dee turned deadly Monday night.
FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – Officials have identified a man fatally shot after allegedly breaking into a Pee Dee home earlier this week.
The Florence County Sheriff’s Office responded around 10 p.m. to the 1900 block of Vox Highway in the Johnsonville area for a shooting. Deputies found a person with gunshot wounds, and EMS took them to the hospital, where they died.
Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken later identified the person killed as 30-year-old Benjamin Miller, of Johnsonville.
According to the sheriff’s office, witnesses said Miller entered someone’s home and threatened to shoot them.
“When the suspect pointed a handgun at the victim, the victim shot the suspect several times,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office later added that the suspect entered the home without permission.
While the deadly shooting remains under investigation, authorities said charges in the case are not expected.

NooBs gonna look good.
Would this count as bringing a can to a gun fight for the 3″ three ring loose leaf binder of T2NB2AGF?
Inquiring minds….
I believe that indeed it would count, Tox. May even be a FIRST (ht2 HS) time we’ve seen a “can to a gunfight”. Amazing how quickly a perp “can” remember pressing business elsewhere when a potential victim “can” bring a gun to a “can” fight and start shooting at their retreating “can”. “Can” you say…”How teh stoopid “can” you get?” I’ll see if I “can” see myself out…
As a nod to Hack, at least the reporter got the designation of “victim” and “suspect” correct on “they/them”. One less parasite along the Old Pee Dee of Carolacky.
Heed the words of Mr. Heinlein.
“…a reproduction of the {HMS} John Moses Browning {HBHN}…” Rather spendy @ $1300 +- but the 16.5 inch barrel length makes for a nice Bush Rifle…and it IS made of metal and wood as HMS JMB (HBHN) intended. Ya get what ya pay for.
Some escort duty duty…keep an eye out for the smoke arising from The Stoned Hacker’s F5 Key. It is Friday, after all.
WHat? YOu think you’re Willy the playwright?
“…..let me count the cans….”
So, did two or more people die in the Pee Dee incident? The news article states that EMS took “them” to the hospital where “they” died, but only provided the name of one person.
EMS: What’s your name?
Patient: Benjamin Miller.
EMS: We need your vitals. What are your personal pronouns?
