18-year-old killed after robbery gone wrong in Punta Gorda

Writer: Bryanna Sterzenbach
Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office deputies continue to investigate the incident that occurred late Saturday night at Grapefruit Lane.

Sheriff Bill Prummell said that upon arrival at the scene, deputies located 18-year-old Lianaal Jean, who had been shot dead.

“Lianaal had pulled out a firearm to rob the subject, but then the 17-year-old boy pulled out a firearm of his own and fired in what appears to be self-defense, striking and killing Lianaal,” Prummell said.

The girlfriend of the deceased, a 17-year-old, was also there and informed officers that the 17-year-old boy who fired the fatal shot fled on foot.

Officers were able to locate the boy and detain him where, upon further investigation, they discovered Jean and his girlfriend had invited the boy to Grapefruit Lane with the intention of robbing him.

The encounter then turned fatal for the would-be robber, Prummell said.

Furthermore, said the sheriff, the gun Jean had was illegally obtained.

“The firearm in which Liannal [brandished] was stolen from a burglary back in August in which Lianaal was charged with, but the firearm was never recovered,” Prummell said.

Deputies are still working to find where the 17-year-old boy tossed his firearm, how he obtained the gun and whether any additional charges will be filed against the boy.

This is still an ongoing investigation with many moving parts, according to Prummell. However, he did say it does appear the 17-year-old shot Jean in an act of self-defense.

Boyfriend shot outside Selma by girlfriend’s relative, deputies say

by: Isaiah Varela
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man is in critical condition after being shot by a relative of his girlfriend Saturday morning, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Deputies say around 9:25 a.m. they received a call from a woman who said her boyfriend was beating her up at a home near Fowler Avenue just south of Clarkson Avenue outside of Selma.

Investigators report as they responded, the victim contacted her relative who showed up with a friend and intervened.

As a result of the confrontation, detectives say the relative shot the boyfriend who was being violent. The boyfriend then made his way up the road where he collapsed in front of Wildflower Market.

Deputies say an employee called and reported a victim of a gunshot wound. The suspect was airlifted to a local hospital where he remains in critical, but stable condition.

Investigators say the relative and his friend were detained as they conduct their investigation.

The 17 y.o. had the right idea (Shut Up = don’t be around to talk to the po-po), but obviously he didn’t implement it well enough.
Unless they were all close best buds, I think the only way he could have avoided the situation was to NOT have gone with them.
Yeah, he needs to lawer up, even if it is just a public defender.

Good on the relatives for defending their little girl from the Big Bad Boyfriend. Even if the girl was being a skank (not proven, just supposing a “what if”) best for Boyfriend’s health to just walk away, and keep on walking.
