Brian Culp; the serial valor thief
COB6 first wrote about Brian Culp back in December 2008 when he was busted for Purple Heart license plates in Texas. He claimed that he had two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star Medal from his service in Somalia. He went to jail for nine months and three years probation in Texas in 2008.
In 2011, he was busted again by his probation officer when he used a forged ID card to get on base at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. His probation was revoked and he went back to prison for a year.
Last year, game wardens busted him for hunting without a valid hunting license when they caught him hunting with a license meant to be issued to disabled veterans. He paid a $6,242.35 fine.
Well, I figured that it was time to get his records, since we’d been depending on news reports. Turns out that Culp had been an infantryman, he’d earned the Combat Infantryman Badge during Desert Storm. He’d even completed the Ranger Indoctrination Program, but no Purple Hearts, no awards for participation in the Somalia Mission. It looks like his highest rank was Sergeant E-5 in eight years and four months of active service and two years of Texas National Guard time. It looks like he reenlisted and left the Infantry to join the Signal Corps after a break in service.
I guess that wasn’t good enough for Brian, he really needed those Purple Heart license plates and the free hunting license. His Facebook page continues to have a lie about him being a staff sergeant (E-6) when according to his records, he was a sergeant (E-5);

Went to junior high and high school with Brian no knew him very well. Went to visit a friend at Ft. Campbell after Desert Storm and Brian went to a few bars with us. I’ve said all along that he was a legit combat infantryman from Desert Stirm and one hell of a high school quarterback. But then he went off the deep end about Somalia, Regiment, Purple Hearts, RIPPING OFF organizations that give bad ass free hunts and fishing trips and rods and reels to wounded veterans. And he tries to physically intimidate those who confront him (He is a really big dude.)

I noticed under Section VII – Civilian Education of his ERB he graduated High School in the year 1900. I’ll give him this – He looks pretty good for his age.
Until a month ago, my ERB had my ETS as OCT 1999. I apparently kept popping up on some report as being stoplossed because of it.
Not sure how many times I sent up copies of my re-enlistment contract, but after 10 years (two re-enlistments) it finially changed.
Greetings SSG Kane, even though I was a 36 year Air Force flyboy I earned an Army Achievement Medal and two Coast Guard Meritorious Team Awards with the ‘O’ device. I was able to get the AAM into my records but when I submitted the CGMTAs was told they can’t put sister-service awards into my record. When I submitted them again and stated they already had given me credit for such an award my submission was ignored.
Oh well, at least I’m finally eligible for Senior Citizen’s discounts; something my military records can’t provide.
I hear the same when I mention that I won my VC at Rorke’s Drift with my trusty Martini 😲

Looks like he may have stepped on his crank toward the end of his RA service. His ERB shows him as an E5 with date of rank of 20020301, but his last DD214 shows him as an E4 with date of rank of 20030314.

Brain Culp is now living in Gunter tx. He and my ex-wife have forced my to sons to go by his last name. He continues his lies about being an army ranger and has alienated me my two sons. I’m in when it comes the fight against stolan valor. We need law inforcment to be trains in the laws. The two game wardens which I have spoke to didn’t know they should have arrested him, not just fine him. I need people to come along my side to fight this man. My sons mean everything to me! And I won’t stop until change has been made. I’m in front of some one right this second that could help us accomplish our mission. I need good wingmen by my side that have the same goal in mind. Don’t be silent! My first son graduates in May and I don’t want to hear That name over the PA again as I have heard all year at football games. I hope to have youngest living with me soon so that I don’t have to hear their fake name again. This man has bullied and intimidated my sons into this.
