Nicholas Marshall; phony Green Beret
We first talked about Nicholas Marshall in 2011 when he stole a car and promised a judge he’d show up in court in Massachusetts because, he claimed, he was on active duty. When he didn’t show up, the Army said he was AWOL and there were warrants out for him in Rhode Island and Pennsylvania.
Then last year, he murdered his wife and shot himself to cover it up. Hopefully, he’s still in jail for that one, but someone warned the Guardians of the Green Beret about Marshall;
I am a retired Green Beret who was renting my house to who I thought was a young E-6 (Military ID card looked legit). After a few months police were called multiple times for domestic abuse. His wife asked me for help because she felt she did not know who he was because he lied so much. I met her and her parents at her parents house. They told me that Nick had said that he was a Green Beret war buddy of mine. I knew this to be a lie. Then they showed me multiple pictures of him in uniform with a Green Beret and awards on (attached). His wife stated that she even dropped him off for work at 3rd SFG HQ multiple times. I reported this activity to the USASOC Force Protection Division (G34) who in turn contacted CID. CID then informed us that Nick Marshall had just been release from prison in Massachusetts where he served 2 years and was brought back to Fort Bragg for outprocessing. They stated that his E-6 Military ID card must be fake because he had been demoted to E-1 and his ID card was taken away. Highest rank that he ever held was an E-4. Once we had all of this information, we had Sxxxxxx Mxxxxxxx stay with her parents and I initiated eviction proceedings as he had not paid rent for the month. After Nick was evicted, a few months later we saw a news report that Nick Marshall had killed his wife and shot himself in an effort to cover it up. This is the biggest xxxxx xx xxxx I have ever seen aside from xxxx xxxxx in Iraq and Afghanistan. Everyone needs to know this fraud and murderer’s story.
So the Guardians got his records;
He was a 92S Shower/Laundry and Clothing Specialist and he was discharged as an E-1 after 3 years, 11 months – a real over-achiever.

Reputedly a “nice gig”, lifestyle-wise. Promotion-wise, not so much.
There is a reserve unit in my hometown and this is the bulk of the unit MOS. Subsequently, I know lots of folks with that MOS and others who went on to active duty under additional MOSs.
And the phony Brian Culp, busted right here on TAH, was in the unit in the late 80’s before going active duty and serving honorably… until he decided he was a Mogadishu Ranger.

FWIW: per the guy’s DD214, he had 6 yrs 4 mo 27 days active service. But there were 12 years 8 mo 11 days between his entry on AD and his discharge (which I’ll bet was either a BCD or a DD). So let’s see what we can figure out about that nearly 6 years 3 1/2 months of lost time.
We know he went AWOL. That time won’t count as active duty time. As I recall, neither does time in confinement.
Looking at his ERB, it appears he was returned to military control on/about 20130504; he was assigned to Fort Sill PCF on 20140410. He was discharged from the Army, from Fort Sill PCF, on 20160408 – which was a Friday. My guess is he was court-martialed and sentenced to 2 years confinement after returning to military control, then was released 2 days early for govt convenience.
That leaves 4 years 3 1/2 mo of lost time. His DOR to E1 appears to be sometime in 2007 (can’t quite make out the month/year on his ERB). My guess is his unit got alerted for deployment during the surge – and the little coward went AWOL, missed movement, came back to military control, and got reduced (and perhaps some confinement). He later went AWOL again, was again returned to military control in 2013, was court-martialed (w/punitive discharge) afterwards, and went to confinement at Fort Sill.
Bottom line: I’d guess multiple AWOLs; multiple apprehensions/returns to military control; periods of confinement and AWOL totaling 6 yr 3 1/2 mo; either multiple courts-martial or a Field Grade Article 15 and a court-martial; a minimum sentence of 2 years confinement, and possibly another period of confinement also; and a punitive discharge – likely a DD.

His next court date is Wednesday the 11th of October. In Hoke County, NC. Courtroom 2, morning session.
I’d certainly believe that. It took 3 years to convict the guy who beheaded a co-worker in Oklahoma City that I wrote about the other day.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t 92S have some of the lowest line score req of any MOS in the Army? The only line score I can find listed on the Go Army web page is a 84 on the General Maintenance line score. No min ASVAB score listed. Guess this guy was always a box of rocks.
Yes. 92S used to be two seperate MOS – bath and laundry and fabric repair specialist.
They combined those two into 92S

So do I. It’s a long, painful story how I know him and I know his wife as well. I tried to help her leave him but he got to her first. He still hasn’t been sentenced and it’s going to take a long time because of all the misdemeanors and felonies he racked up. I’d be interested in talking to you.
