Casey Gubert; phony vet in Sacramento
KXTV tells the story of their encounter with this fellow, Case Gubert who told them that he was getting booted from his apartment because of a service dog that he needed to deal with the horrors that he witnessed in war;
Casey shared with us stories of when he went to Afghanistan and Iraq. He said he even received a Purple Heart. The next day we got a call from a woman who claimed she’s known Casey for most of his life and said he lied about being a veteran.
We took a letter the couple claims to have given the property manager and showed the VA Medical Center. At first glance a spokesperson told us it looked real until she confronted the doctor who is listed. She told us the letter is not an official document from the VA Northern California Health Care System, nor is the signature on the document from one of their physicians.
After confronting the couple, they stand by what they said in the previous ABC10 interview. They said they gave us documentation, which the VA tells us is a forgery. We’ve asked several more times for them to talk with us again or if they have any other documents proving his service or even pictures. So far, we’ve received nothing.
It’s always the dogs, I swear.
So they interview this real veteran, Kirsten Rockwood, a pharmacy technician in the early 1990’s who has a real service dog. How a Navy pharmacy technician caught the PTSD in the early 90s, I’ll never understand. Maybe they should just give everyone a service dog with their DD214.
Thanks to AverageNCO for the link.

It’s my understanding that you can be thousands of miles from a war zone and can catch the ptsd from just hearing about something from someone that was there.
We had an int guy who got PTSD from the drone footage in the all source centre at KAF. He got the while package, pension, dig, cool leather vest and comfort quilt from the local grannies.
Whole, dog. iPhones suck
Damn auto correct can be a real Mother Forklift sometimes!
0no word of a lie, a signaler claimed psych for ‘listening to contacts’ while in the toc in 2010. Unbelievable.
Even moreso because this silly little tart wouldn’t even have heard the contacts from BGHQ, she would’ve heard the combat team HQ signaler report the contact from the subunit. PTSD malingerers give me the shits.
Only if you’re a drone operator.
Dude, didn’t you hear… you can catch it from dirty toilet seats at truck stops and Quickie-Marts. Don’t believe me – just ask any member of the SRG.
So every “veteran” mentioned in the article is either a phony liar or an embellisher; go figure…
Maybe they should just give everyone a service dog with their DD214.
Because once everyone is special, no one will be special…motherfuckers…
Here in the PRoM just about every special snowflake in one of the local liberal buffoon cities (Northampton Massachusetts) is a lying sack of shit about needing a service dog…they all buy the little vests and put them on their pets so no one can question these fuckers when they show up at your business and want their dog to come inside…
VOV help me out here. In all of my travels I’ve never been to a place that takes itself more seriously than Northampton PRoM. Of course, all of the brushes that were made there helped tame hair and clean teeth; but those days are long gone. Perhaps they can take pride in the gypsy moth which, if the rumors are true, started its rampage in Florence.
What if anything has Northampton done lately to merit its pride?
A number of states have had enough of this shit. Therapy dogs, cats, monkeys, snakes etc and have passed laws requiring anyone with a service animal to carry the qualifying documents on them presentable on demand to any establishment they try to haul their animal into.
We were in a restaurant in Tennessee earlier this year that had the state Department of Health regulation for animals in restaurants posted on the entrance door. Highlighted was the statement “Under the ADA, “comfort,” “therapy,” or “emotional support” animals do not meet the definition of a service animal.”
I’d love to see Jake’s, Paul and Elizabeth’s, or Fitzwilly’s hang that.
Well, if Vermin Supreme had become President we all would’ve gotten free ponies, so why not get a free dog? LOL.
Dogs are great, but can be expensive after the initial purchase, so I feel bad for the Dog(s) this dipshit has.
Maybe he got the PTSD from giving other people pills for their PTSD? I heard it can be contagious….
We have a former employee (a Veteran)here that is 100% disabled because of the PTSD caught while serving as an Admissions person from all the “abuse” by Veterans…sigh…
I have PTSD from having to listen to all these bullshit stories from all these fakers about having PTSD when they cannot possibly have PTSD.
Priceless…when one phony is outraged by another phony…I guess those child proof pill bottles finally did her in
A cheat and a Free Cheeser. Nice combo.
I have service cats. They expect me to wait on them hand and foot.
I’m getting a new version of the PTSD that is only cured by sending these buffoons to a collecting point for disposal. That, and large sums of cash will help. Cash and a new car. Cash and a new car and a new stove.
My service cats think I am a wonderful and most amazing invention: a walking can opener that comes when called.
PoeT, I have to play spoon music on their dinner bowls before they will even raise their heads off their paws.
Dogs have owners, cats have staff.
A lying sack of shit in Sacramento? You don’t say!
Folks, there are cases of PTSD not related to Combat.
Kids in catastrophic wrecks.
Victims of gang-rape.
Something as simple as a surprise bash-on-the-head mugging.
Think about all those folks without the “armed forces toughening” dealing with sudden violence for the first time, totally unprepared and totally overwhelmed.
Trauma is relative. This is why some can shake off “multiple IED ambush and comrade-carnage” with nothing more than occasional bad dreams, and some poor souls go off the functional deep end over a simple mugging.
I cant go into details here in public, without compromising trust. I can certify that I personally know folks who have genuine PTSD not from combat. I can certify to the self-destruction of more than one.
Which is why it is so easy for shitbags to fake it. Which is why we out shitbaggery when we can. But please do not assume a non-combat life is proof of “not possible” PTSD.
Imagine a special snowflake, raised by snowflakes to be one. Imagine them reading here, and deciding “I have been a fool. I will enlist and serve my country, and become non-snowflake”. I think we might accurately describe 14 weeks of Infantry OSUT as “trauma” to such a person. He has -no- capacity to process it. His parents robbed him of any resilience, deliberately. He might thrive on the new outlook, he might have nightmares about some things experienced. Actual combat might leave him a shuddering wreck, or proof the steel in fire.
Sadly, predicting this outcome is still a crap shoot for most of us.
I still think of Matt Damon as Pvt Ryan screaming bloody murder and crying as the guys sent to save his ass fought and died for him…
I don’t know if that is what happened to Pvt Ryan, but it is totally fitting for Damon to do that.
I still say his best part and name was Linus in the Oceans movies…
I sure his snowflake ass caught the PTSD from filming the movie…
Totally agree, 11B. Thank you for pointing that out.
Great points.
But some folks need to suck it up and drive on.
Its called life.
Clerk, while you have valid points regarding stress-induced psychological trauma, expecting a forum of military types, many with combat experience, to not give it short shrift is a bit like expecting NFL players to commiserate with soccer moms over their tennis elbow.
Perhaps a soccer mom’s major concussion would be better description of where I was going. A debilitating injury that both sorts of folks experience, for very different reasons and frequency.
If we understood why civilians get PTSD from relatively mild shocks, compared to combat vets, maybe we could better aid the combat vets?
Is this about value signaling, or solving the monster that causes so many combat vets and civilians to destroy themselves?
Can we go back to figuring out why this shit keeps killing my friends, and people I deeply respect?
Hmm. Re reading your post, I went kinda sideways. Clearly, I have a hot-button on this shit.
Your point is valid.
PTSD caught from the mailroom confirmed!
Four to Seven full mailbags at Christmas! For days and days at a time! The horror! The Horror! Lugging all that crap out to FTXs because it Was My Job! How will I ever get over it….
.
Seriously though, I rather enjoyed my not-very-exciting enlistment in no-active-combat Georgia. (Well, some clubs in Savannah were apparently free-fire zones, but the Hitchin Post in Hinesvlle was usually not too risky.) “Find all the medics in the field” was always a serious challenge.
But I am thinking more of my weird “luck” in being first on the scene of traffic accidents. Ever see an eyeball hanging on the shattered door frame of what was probably a Civic? For twenty plus years now, that item will pop up in my mind at the darndest times.
So I “get it” when weird shit scrambles other peoples’ brains, and thus I tend to cut folks a little more slack.
“just get over it” is one of the singular most useless things I ever heard. Better was, “You can harden yourself to deal with it, learn to see it as funny, or go to pieces and lose your shit. Your choice. I can help.”
Buddy aid for the other brain.
When were you last in Hinesville. I made it my home. My first duty station in the Army. I was at D co 1-3 ADA. Long time ago. If you haven’t been here lately. It sure is growing lots more stores and restaurants going up. Btw they tore the Hitching Post down
Todd, I was also in 1/3 ADA a Long, Long, Looooong time ago.
72-74.
Three Firing Batteries of Towed Vulcans for the 101st Airborne Division.
Nice to meet a fellow I Strike Vet Claw. I was in 1-3 from 99-01 as a 14 T avenger crew member . Transitioned to the Patriot side of the house. I must be getting old. Calling the btry a co. LoL btw 1-3 furled their colors in 04
Ha-Ha. You’re getting old? How’s this:
1/3 ADA came to Fort Carson in 1989 to be the 4th ID’s ADA Bn.
I was the 1st Bde, 4th ID S-4 NCO and went down to visit my old unit and tell them I was a original plank owner to the Bn when it reactivated at Fort Bliss in 72.
The Alpha Battery 1SG in 89 was a guy that I knew as a PFC at Fort Campbell in 73.
I stand corrected. I ain’t so old. LOL. I guess being 50 ain’t so bad.
Ah, to be 50 again and know what I know now.
One more day and a wake-up and I’ll have been retired from the Army for 25 years.
I don’t know what I was thinking. I was a 14s avenger crewmen. Didn’t become a 14 T till I reenlisted Became an 88m on second reenlist these meds causing some memory loss I think
88
I was in 2-7 Inf (HHC obviously….)
I think it’s funny that they closed Hurricanes or Whoreicanes. And now it’s a church
I was also a Cottonbaler for a short while.
HHC, 3/7, 197th at Benning prior to my first trip to Germany.
My Dad. Was also with 197th at Benning in the 70s. He was a pac NCO. SFC Jack Davis. He married Olga Kelly who has been the president of the international wives club at Benning since 74. And my other stepmom Merle who worked at the Ranger School. Cutting orders. Dad is buried at the main post cemetery.
As of 87, 3-7 Inf was right next door to 2-7 inf at Ft Stewart. (Reflagged from 2-34 and 2-21 that year)
Last I heard, they stayed that way after 24th ID reflagged as 3rd ID in 96.
11B – I agree with you about non-combat PTSD. I’m sure that I have some form of it from my time as a Decedent Affairs Officer dealing with some really bizarre stuff for 2+ years. I do have a few nights a year when I have problems sleeping or a smell can bring back a memory from that time and “rattle my cage”. I’ve learned how to deal/cope with it so it doesn’t make me into a wreck and I can function – I’ve talked about it with friends and have not had to go to a doc and been given drugs that can alter my mind’s chemistry to the point where I can’t function.
I’ve always thought that the way humans deal with trauma is partially due to how our minds “process” it and how our parents and others role models teach us about dealing with it. Many of us seem to handle it with few, if any, problems. Others, who haven’t had support from family and loved ones when young or who have resorted to drugs and/or alcohol to deal with trauma, seem to be the ones that cannot “process” it.
There is so much that medicine still doesn’t know about the brain and how it works that treating PTSD will be a problem for the foreseeable future.
You nailed it, Chief (Doc).
Semper Fi!
Thanks.
In the days of vinyl LPs for music, I used the metaphor of a severe bump putting a deep scratch on the disk, causing it to permanently jump to the wrong place at the wrong time. The more it repeats, the worse the “bad-groove” gets. Fixing it takes some real work, not just wishful thinking.
(Then again, my platter is pretty warped to begin with….)
Tricky, tricky thing the brain.
Hit the nail on the head. I pulled POG duty in Afg that I don’t give a 2nd thought to. But for seven years pulling funeral details, including 7 KIAs/CACOs…my God i still think about that shit. A voice, phrase, or noise will trigger shit and I’m a basket case for the rest of the day.
Cocksucker.
My first thought seeing the picture was “Sit the fuck up and quit slouching, shitbag!”
I am sure he finds it extremely difficult to sit upright with that 12″ Lex Steele dildo crammed up his ass.
I need a service dog now because I am so friggin’ traumatized because of all the posers with service dogs.
Tool.
I had someone tell me recently that they were really anxious because with the wars still raging he feared the draft would be reinstated,,,,said it was negatively affecting his life.
Something tells me the PTSD epidemic will only grow more virulent.
Snowflakes will be snowflakes.
She ‘could’ be the victim of sexual trauma while serving. Not all PTSD is ARO combat.
If he flashed some tats he might be believable. That and a Harley, vest, patches, doo rag, shades, ponytail, thousand yard stare, Purple Heart ball cap, etc. This guy isn’t trying.
He on OxyContin it’s hard to deal with reality when your all pulled up
The “Service Animal” problem is more widespread than I had imagined. Check this out:
http://www.freep.com/story/news/local/michigan/2016/12/27/too-many-air-passengers-fly-phony-support-pets-critics-say/93969310/
Read that this AM… I’m thinking the ADA needs to be looked at since it’s been abused like a red-headed stepchild since it’s inception.
Don’t mean to trigger any red-headed stepchildren out there in TAH land…
ADA doesn’t cover “comfort animals”. It only provides protection for Service Dogs. So the asshole bringing their pet snake into a restaurant cannot bitch when they get told to leave.
Airlines only require a note from the persons shrink.
WAR STORY ALERT!!! As an admin NCO assigned to CINCPAC Special Ops (J3A3), my job was to process a stack of TS messages every morning. I read some of them to determine distribution. I had trouble sleeping on many nights because of some of the action reports I read, some still bother me today such as the GI getting drug out of a fox hole and carried off by a tiger. Americans didn’t see shit like that on the evening news. Never thought about PTSD because what I did was what I took an oath to do. However, I found a little pussy was the best way to get rid of stress, not a service dog. We have two house cats and feed a couple of strays :>))
Bravo! Bravo!
I am so stealing that!
(Steve Martin went there, but worse… “That cat was the best….”)
I love my service ant farm.
It helps me sort out all those tunnels.
Yeah, those Viet of the Nam tunnels.
Charlie was like little ants.
In those tunnels.
I love my service ant farm.
I’ve been a landlord for almost forty years. I’m going to guess these two rented the apartment, not disclosing that they had a dog. They got caught, were told to either get rid of the dog, or move. That’s when the dog and pony show started, and the bogus veteran claims originated.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
Winner of today’s episode of “What’s my line (of bullshit)?”
Maybe that is how my phony pos brother caught the PTSD? It surely had to come from all the BS stories he told of his valued carreer in the Viet of the Nam? I wonder how the pos even cashes his $3K check every month to boot? He doesn’t even have the Harley, vest, doo rag, hat or even a dog? How can he even be trying? Check out good ol’ “Doc” Shrum. May he rot in hell and prison or hopefully both very soon!
I understand and agree there are many folks who need these dogs and they benefit greatly from having them.
This is what I don’t get about these internet certified service dogs. My last dog, a basset hound, was certified to visit folks in hospitals, nursing homes, etc. To be certified he had to pass a test that included having his tail pulled, his ears pulled and screamed into, social ability with other dogs including corgis (bassets and corgis hate each other to the point of making the Hatfields and McCoys seem like kissing cousins). The hardest part of the test was getting him to walk a maze without picking up any of the milk-bones and other goodies on the floor. The dogs got only 2 chances at the test; fail it the first time they can try the entire test again, fail it the second time they are banned for life.
After he passed the test, I had to sign papers acknowledging I could only take him to facilities that welcomed him. I was issued a photo ID to gain entrance to the facilities. I had sign papers that stated I understood my dog’s access was only to the facilities in which I had an appointment. I could not use his status as a pass to take him to restaurants, aboard commercial aircraft, busses, taxies, etc. At one place, I had to sign a paper stating I was responsible for reporting abuse.
That some skittle farting unicorn riding snowflakes take their untrained dogs everywhere and woe betide any authority who challenges their right to do so pisses me off.
As I understand it (and I’m sure people will correct me if I’m wrong) is that there is no requirement to provide training documentation/certification for the service dog nor is there a requirement that the dog demonstrate what service it is providing.
This means someone could slap a vest on a dog and say the dog can sense when x is about to happen and keeps me calm.
So it makes it easy for these types of claims to happen.
Like some have been doing for about ohhhhh, ten years now?
Yes, that is pretty much the case.
I’m not sure where the animosity towards those with PTSD is coming from. It’s one of the things I’m service connected for. I didn’t. ” catch it”. It happened I don’t want to discuss what happened. I’m not much for war stories. All I know is that I have a great team at VA which includes a psychiatrist, social worker , peer support counseler, and some great groups I attend at my local CBOC. Learned some good coping skills I receive medication management as well. I guess I don’t understand why all the hard feelings toward those who suffer from it. I also don’t know why phoneys claim they have it. I sure as hell wished I didn’t. I know somebody here is gonna say he’s just butt hurt but truth is I’m not. I’m just the guy who asks questions when I don’t get it.
I am glad that you have a great team at the VA to help you through the issues you are having that are service connected.
The “caught the PTS” is just a running joke around here for the cock-sucking phonies that claim it, nothing personal or denying legitimate PTSD cases.
Thanks for clearing that up. Much appreciated. I have to admit that being relatively new here I still don’t know all the inside and running jokes yet . As far as the phoneys go. I don’t know why they love claiming PTSD it’s almost like claiming you have a terminal illness. Sympathy I guess
They are attention whores on steroids with grand delusions of Valor.
Stick around, TAH is a great place. I have learned to read the comments with an open mind and not jump to immediate conclusions.
Thanks I plan to stick around. Good advice as well ill take it to heart. I know it may sound funny but the daily insanity here actually helps keep me sane. For that I’m truly grateful
Another piece of sage advice; if you get a Facebook friend request from Daniel Bernath of Dallas Wittgenfeld, do not accept it. These two plank members of The Dutch Rudder Group are inspiration for hundreds of threads here.
Had to look up what a Dutch rudder was. My wife asked why I was laughing
Same deal for both Frank Visconi and Dennis Chevalier. Two more plank owners to the DRG.
Don’t accept any FB Friend requests from them either.
I’m in the middle of taking along break from FB. But I’ve googled all these guys and committed them to memory to avoid
Then you better not Google triple reverse dutch rudder….
OR Lemon Party…
I heard rumor that DAB’s own Daughter disowned him.
I heard a rumor that DAB choked on a cock and was rushed to the ER.
Claim PTSD and get that free get out of jail card is how many abuse it.
Like you, I got it. I don’t want it, but I deal with it.
I also got it acknowledged by the VA after I was already 100% Permanent and Total. Cannot tell you how many I have seen gaming the system to get that..
What kills me is these guys in the MH waiting rooms. Just getting down with the gory war stories and then they say something to the affect of. ” I’m having avoidance issues I’m like. That makes no sense. I’m the last person that will judge a fellow vets issues but sometimes shit don’t make sense
It isn’t just Vets that ge afflicted with PTSD, it happens a lot to Law Enforcement as well as Fire and Rescue Personnel to include Paramedics and EMT’s to name some. My best friend from High School did a stint as an MP and later made a living in LE. He rejoined and didn’t get to deploy thanks to a nasty back injury and was later diagnosed with PTSD. His response to the Doctor was along the lines of “HELL NO, I never deployed, how could I have it?” and his Doc explained how LE and ER types get it as well.
What started the ‘caught the PTSD’ meme was when Timmy Poe claimed, when he auditioned for America’s Got Talent, that he’d ‘caught the pay tay ess day’ in Afghanistan, as if it were a communicable disease. It was a completely false claim by him, he was outed for it by people who knew him when he was there, and he was booted from AGT. I think that was back in 2012.
Subsequently, it became a running joke and now it’s sometimes referred to as a communicable social disease.
Unless I’m mistaken, Timmy Poe’s reference to it in an interview during the AGT competition may have had something to do with so many people claiming that they have it when they don’t. Because it doesn’t have a specific organism attached to it, unless you have been through a traumatic event, it’s difficult to believe that you were affected by something that seems superficial and rather specious.
Most of us have had ‘bad things’ happen in our lives but we dealt with them and moved on. It’s those who milk this emotional disorder, which is very real for some people, who instill doubts in the rest of us.
This particular jerk, Gubert, is a lying piece of snake crap who needs to find out what it’s like to face a truly traumatic event that would leave him emotionally scarred. As it is, he lied his ass off in many ways to get something he was not entitled to get. I have no issues with dropkiccking his sorry ass off the roof of a very tall building. in a blizzard.
What kills me about the Poe thing is that in his apology interview. He alluded to the fact that his trauma may be due false memories. So my question is if the memory is false and the trauma is false. How can you have PTSD ? The same interview he stated he may have it. Makes no sense.
I thought then, and still do, that he was just grabbing any attention he could get. He succeeded in getting through the first go-round audition stage. The interview followed that, which is when he made up his BS story. Then he flopped on the next level audition, which probably would have happened, regardless. All he had to do was keep his mouth shut.
Guys is the lead singer of Survivor posing in this video? I think we need to get a FOIA on this dude.
We should replace that dog with this cat.
PTSD is not just from war. Car accidents, witnessing a the traumatic death or barely escaping death, being brutally assaulted or raped… war is not the only source of trauma.
UC Beserkely stoodints going batshit over Donald Trump winning the election…
Gee, thanks for enlightening us with that information Zika-Commie.
Yeah, Lars, we’re aware of that. I’m particularly aware of it because I’m one of those people who’s been diagnosed with PTS unrelated to armed conflict. The fact remains that Casey Gubert is a liar. In other news, water remains wet and you’re still an idiot with delusions of genius.
Have you ever read the writings of Commissar at any length? Absolutely brutal. I still have nightmares.
Lars, if I could buy you for what you’re truly worth and then sell you for what you think you’re worth, I’d make myself richer than Bill Gates, Donald Trump and the Walton Family all put together. Why don’t you go climb to the top of your ego and jump down to your IQ sans a parachute?
I still have the PTSD from being a meatgazer.
Oh, the horror!
The VA should give at least 20% for that, bullshit duty right there.
Yes, it IS difficult to choose between that plump, luscious top round roast and a pile of thick, potentially juicy steaks (when properly grilled in a blinding blizzard).
I can sympathize with that.
But on the flip side….
I am a somewhat happily married straight man who does appreciate a meaty Johnson. I feel that I am can bring it. That being said, I respect dudes that can “up the ante”, if you will.
Life long Infantryman. I will leave it at that.
Being a Meatgazer is good training. Give respect were it is due…
Every time I see smoked sausage in the meat case at the store, I will think of you, GT.
PTSD is the new Desert Storm Syndrome. I knew a worthless POS who was medically retired for DSS. I don’t think he got a dog, though. There’s so much PTSD these days it’s starting to sound like a snowflake disorder.
Yep, so many fakers try to game the system for a free meal ticket while those who really do need help are crowded out.
For some, DSS is real. Goggle Bob Wolz. MS due to nerve agent exposure. Not good stuff….
The service dog/pig/pelican BS is why, when there is a news report of a vet being booted from a restaurant, etc, I’m the asshole who goes on the usual sites and takes the side of the business owner. I’m sure there are those who really need a service animal. I’m also sure that that number is very, very small.
Has anyone submitted a request to FOIA for his DD214 to at least see if he is a true veteran? I only read about a third of the post but didn’t see anything regarding his DD214.
