Norman Hall

Norman Hall

Top Kone sends us a link to the story of 71-year-old Norman Hall whose life ended tragically when he was beaten and stabbed by thieves in Radcliff, Kentucky. The thieves were caught, but it looks as though the 22-year veteran who retired as a sergeant major had no relatives. They were afraid that he’d end up in a pauper’s grave.

City officials have stepped up for the veteran who couldn’t step up for himself;

Two of Hall’s cousins were eventually found in Somerset, Kentucky. Donations from the coroner, police, prosecutor, the cemetery and a funeral home are making it happen.

“If anyone is a veteran or interested in coming out, we’d really appreciate it,” Young said. “It will be great to have him sent off in a proper and respectful manner.”

If you’re going to be in the area, the funeral is scheduled for October 12th at 11AM in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Radcliff, with full military honors. Our thanks to Radcliff officials who are taking care of our brother for us.

Heartbreaking story but at the same time very heartwarming with all those that stepped up to help.

Hang, then cremate the little bastards that killed him and throw the ashes in the bottom of his grave!

As near as I can tell from the pictures he was an engineer of some sort and he has Vietnam campaign ribbons.

I hope his assailants never see the light of day outside of prison walls again.

Claw

From my count of his Overseas Service Bars (seven), he did at least three and a half confirmed years in Vietnam.

I would drink a beer with him anytime if he was still with us.

RIP, SGM.

Claw

And as the story alludes to “10 campaign deployments to Vietnam”, I’m betting his discharge papers said he had 10 Service Stars on the Vietnam Service Medal.

But, there’s what? 17 or 18 recognized campaign periods for Vietnam? And he was over there for 10 of them.

Think about that for a while. And it looks like his between tours time was spent as a Drill Sergeant.

Some men are just meant to be Soldiers.

OC

I’d not only drink a beer with him, I’d be buying – all night long.
10 phuqing tours in the ‘Nam?
Just wow.
RIP SGM, RIP.

DITTO THAT, Skippy! May those two ghouls be painfully ass-raped every day of the rest of their lives in prison!

RIP, Sergeant Major. Enjoy Valhalla, you’ve earned it.

Yeah. What you said. Pieces of crud.

MSG Eric

Can we start a go fund me to have those thugs ass pounded in prison, everyday for the rest of their lives?

The 23 year old is black, about 5’2″ and 135 lbs. He is eligible for death. The 16-year old is not. She will probably be used to nail the male. Phukers.

Well, at least one of them will face appropriate justice. It’s not as good as just taking them out back and putting one behind the ear, but it’ll have to do.

CB Senior

I see that the POS that killed him had to wait until he was old, and snuck up on him.
If they tried that when Mr. Hall was a PCF, from the looks of him, he would stomped a mud hole in their asses the size of Kentucky.

RIP Sergeant Major.

CB Senior

If you look in the last picture that he is under the “Hall used cars” sign. Standard door openings are 6′-8″ usually. With a step and trim the roof is min 7′ tall. Dude looks well over 6′.

radar

He towers over the other guy in the black and white pic, too.

Just An Old Dog

He looks like he was pretty capable of ripping off these two fuck faces heads and shitting down their necks back in the day. A special place in hell for those who hurt our elders.

FYI: Radcliff, KY is 42 miles from Louisville, 85 miles from Frankfort, and 144 miles from Nashville, TN.

Richard Deiters

I Googled the map location and Radclife is just south of the gate at FORT KNOX on US 31W.
Hopefully there will be a good size active military presence for the funeral.

May he rest in Peace.

HMCS(FMF) ret

BZ to the people of Radcliff, KY for stepping up and taking care of SGTMAJ Hall!

Tony180a

Rest in peace SGM. The 2 turds responsible may you rot in hell!! Great job to the Radcliffe, Ky community to honor SGM Hall’s memory and bury him with dignity and honor. I’m currently involved with a few other vets in a very similiar situation. Elderly retired vet that has been robbed a few times by some scumbags. We are trying to get him moved on base at Ft Campbell which would be a best case scenario for him and his wife.

Ex-PH2

There is no excuse for what those slugs did to him.

After all the things he’s been through…

Words just fail me.

Jay

Rest easy SGM, you earned it.

I got 5$, a pack of Marlboro reds, and 3 Baby Ruths to ensure the POS who did this gets his assed cored out in prison everyday.

11B-mailclerk

Packs of Raman (noodle soup) are apparently a new prison currency. Has to do with really, really crappy food in some of them.

I knew Hall, I did his body work on the used cars he bought. I went with him to buy cars and drive them back for him. I worked with him for about 10 years and his wife died and he closed shop the next year and moved and I didn’t know where, never heard him say a bad word about anyone. He would give the shirt off his back if you needed it so I don’t understand why they had to kill him onless he knew they was bums.
He liked to drink a little, gamble some and fish
I’m 5 foot 8 and he stood a good head above me.
I was so proud of they way Radcliff took care of him and disappointed in the people that I knew that knew him didn’t show for the funeral.
His first name was Norman and my middle name is Norman and turns out I was in the army the same time he was ( 3 YEARS) but didn’t know him then.
