Phony sailor was a no-show [Jonn]
Skye emailed from her phone to tell me that Pinhead didn’t show up for the rally in West Chester, PA today. In case you missed the update I posted there yesterday, here it is again;
Someone sent me a closer look at Pinhead’s medals;
It looks like an older version of the Coast Guard Good Conduct Medal;
So, we’ve got this dork wearing one medal that was issued while he was in grade school and a Coast Guard Medal – he was in the Navy.

I have a neighbor who is a retired 0-6 Coastie. I’ll have him critique me on the medal. Let you know when I learn.

FO,
It might be WWII vintage too.
Probably got them from an estate sale.
It’s amazing what you can buy off of ebay. I was able to replace many of my awards that way. I had a bunch of stuff stolen from me several years back. Bassids got my flight jacket with all my “I been there” patches, cruise books, most of my old uniforms and awards, etc. Fortunately I keep my log books, DD-214’s, certificates, etc, in a lock box so they are safe, but man, it was a pain to replace some stuff and just having someone come into your property and help themselves to something like that is a real pisser.
[…] at This ain’t Hell…, we find that a phony sailor failed to show […]
My Coastie neighbor, sez that while Officers couldn’t earn them, he did award many Good Conduct medals, and he does not recognize that as anything he ever handled, and as a Coastie historian, he has no knowledge of it. Said it was possible that someone affixed the medal to a non-related ribbon to create what we see. And, to the best of his knowledge there is no usage of “Semper Paratus” within the Navy.
JAPS, (Just Another Phony Soldier).
