Paul Connolly; phony SEAL tossed from restaurant

| July 20, 2014

Paul Connolly phony SEAL

We just got a call about this Paul Connolly fellow. According to Associated Press reports, was tossed from a restaurant in Brainerd, Minnesota when he went in with what he calls a service dog.

“It’s been a miserable 10 days,” said Navy veteran Paul Connolly, of Brainerd, of the time since he and his service dog, Cooper, were asked to leave the dining room at Iven’s on the Bay in Brainerd. “It felt awful.”

Sara McCabe, manager at Iven’s, said the incident — on a busy Friday night before the Fourth of July — rose from a miscommunication and the veteran wasn’t refused service.

“I don’t understand how this has escalated the way it has,” McCabe said. “We certainly would never knowingly offend any guest.”

Connolly, 55, joined the Navy in 1976 and served until 1982. He trained as a SEAL and spent his Navy career working in and on nuclear weapons. He said he also spent an extended time with threats to his life after taking part in a Naval Criminal Investigative Service sting to nail a drug dealer.

He suffers from nightmares, panic attacks and depression.

Well, the call we got from was Don Shipley, so the dude isn’t a Navy SEAL, nor has he “trained as a SEAL”. This is why I avoid all of those stories about “veterans” getting tossed from businesses for their service dogs. I think we need to get a FOIA on this Mr. Connolly fellow because his stories about nukes and NCIS sound fishy, just like his claim to be a SEAL. At this point, I doubt his claims of PTS and I’m beginning to doubt that his dog is a service dog.

Hondo did a FOIA on his ample posterior, because he made other claims about his service that didn’t sound right. He said he was an undercover NCIS informer – but that’s not consistent with his records. Our Navy guys say he might have worked on nuclear weapons, but that doesn’t make him a SEAL, FFS.

Paul Joseph Connolly FOIA

Paul Joseph Connolly Assignments

He served aboard the USS PROTEUS, a submarine tender stationed at Guam as a Gunners Mate Missile, so his nuclear weapons story might be the only true thing he told the reporter. Wiki says this about Connolly’s time aboard the PROTEUS;

In 1980, Proteus was home-ported at Apra Harbor, Guam, where her missile silos had been deactivated and the missiles removed and converted to tender submarines.

Again, he flushed his honorable service down the drain with his fantastical stories.

’76-’82? What the hell does he need a service dog for? God I hate these people!

MSGRetired

One thing is for sure, he is a sack of shit !

Just an Old Dog

Whats that smell? Could it be BULLSHIT?

Pineywoods NCO

Funny, I think it’s dog****.

blue

He suffers from nightmares(because he knows he is not a SEAL and when he is exposed his house of cards will come tumbling down), panic attacks(because if a real SEAL catches his ass he will be in trouble) and depression(because he will never be the man he thinks he is).

AW1 Tim

You may be on to something here…….

Ranger11bv

WOOOT!!! In house psychiatrists !

FatCircles0311

This guy did it all in during his 6 year “career” didn’t he. He worked IN nukes. That’s where he was busting drug dealers for NCIS. Gotta watch out for them dealers in our nukes. ICBM’s are the next camden, NJ!

This is possibly TAH’s first nuclear SEAL? I bet he glows in the dark.

AW1Ed

I’ll withhold judgment until the FOIA drill is complete.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

Ah … Let me help you out. Good call!

So that means … Everyone else pile on!

As I said early this week in reference to a court case, “there is nothing there in the there there”.

My lawyer then asked, “can I use that”?

I responsed, “at 600 dollars an hour plus expences … NO”!

Isnala

You should have said yes but there will be a royalty charge per use.

Dave Hardin

Well that didn’t garner the sympathy poor Paul was looking for did it. This service dog thing just rubs me the wrong way. Now his PTSD will get worse and the VA will have to mail a much bigger check. Makes me sick.

nbcguy54

Poor dog.

Ranger11bv

Poor dog is RIGHT!!! The dog aint getig the check…

william groce

as a veteran with a service dog I have never had a problem in any business the only time I have ever seen a problem is when the owner or the dog causes a problem usually it is because someone asks if it is a service dog and the owner starts screaming (a sure sign that it is not a service dog) or the dog is misbehaving what people don’t realize is if the dog acts up the owner can be thrown out the same as if he is acting up you may NOT disrupt the business

OldSargeUSAR

How come is it that all these “SEALS” seem to be fat ass porkers who haven’t missed a meal, super sized, in 25 years?

CLAW131

OldSarge, even the smallest of Long Nosed Elephant “SEALS” have to eat at least 200 big fish a day to maintain their weight. Although they spend 80% of the time in the water, they have been known to come ashore and graze the seafood section of salad bars.

GoldenDragon

They haven’t had Supersized in over a decade.

CLAW131

I think the reporter got the story wrong. It should have read “Connolly and his common law wife, Tina Lightfoot Kersten were at the all you can eat buffet with their service dogs” when the incident occurred. And then, Blah,Blah,Blah.

Chris

Is this another Bernath plaintiff in the making??

thebesig

Or another “All Points Logistics” employee lead.

Green Thumb

Phildo’s “Life Coach”.

Sapper3307

The dog is welcome the bull#hiter has gotta go!

Ex-PH2

Has SEnior Chief Shipley taken this one to task in person, and will there be a video? I need a good laugh.

nbcguy54

Regardless of the phoney SEAL issue, the way I understood the article, this guy was wrong in many different ways. First – did he have reservations? Looks like probably not. Restaurant customer with a canine allergy? Legit issue. Can’t boot the customer. Tried to offer accommodations and seated outside. Yep. Made big deal over not having his ass kissed. Yep.
But yet the article makes the restaurant the bad guys. Sensationalized journalism – yep.

AW1Ed

This. Journalists always get it wrong. I read somewhere that a news story about firearms could be described as an article with errors in it.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

Read below … And peanut allergies!

AW1 Tim

As someone with severe allergies to dogs & cats, I understand this issue well. It doesn’t take much exposure at all for me to have my eyes start swelling, my sinuses running and my lungs start acting up.

Hell, when traveling I have to make certain that any hotel I stay at ensures my room hasn’t had pets in it. Same with rental cars.

AZtoVA

You missed the part about the dog being a “service dog” has the same credibility as the Douche has being a Seal:

“McCabe said a server told her another patron, who said they were allergic to dogs, questioned if the dog was a service dog because he wasn’t marked, and an employee may have then asked the Connollys if they could prove Cooper was a service dog.”

Quite the web of deceit be woven.

ArmyATC

Look at that pic. Even the dog is giving him the, “you’re a fucking dumbass” look.

NHSparky

Bobo and Ray will back me up on this one:

If you ask him what PRP, access, (when dealing with nuclear weapons) or deadly force means, and he even stutters, throat punch as necessary until stuttering stops.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

Pers Reliability Program.

As a BT3 is was OSL for A&I on Nuke Capable Ship!

I can not confirm, nor deny, however if it goes boom … It will be bad!

Really bad!

NHSparky

And I guar-an-fuckin-tee that he has no clue what a 4FZ is, does, or looks like, either.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

Ah … remind me again on that there 4FZee thingy!

Nah … Nevermind!

Open Channel D

Some how, in my heart of hearts, I knew you were a BT.

The clues are all there.

Ranger11bv

I cant confirm or deney that… BUT I am qualified on EVERY ship/sub in the navy!! Just took 2 months and a purchase at the local surplus store….

Bubblehead Ray

Smells like Bulllllllshite to me. Besides all the other obvious ferterlizer, the agency called NCIS didn’t exist until 1992. Before that it was NIS, and that’s how it would be referred to by someone who interacted with it in the 80’s.

My bet is this guy has never spent a second in an exclusion area.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

Couple of things:

1. His belly is a “Global Force for Good”.

2. I know what his service dog is for … Probably involves a jar of peanut butter with the curtains drawn.

3. I call 100 % VA fraud on this guy …

4. The time period he claims … Nothing good was going on the military. First few years of 80’s still rough.

5. His dog needs to be rescued … NOW!

6. Nuke weapons not a SEAL mission. In the late 70 and 80 almost exclusive Marine mission protection of entire inventory and delivery of Man Portables. Other than that I don’t know.

7. There should be a law, if a person claiming to be a Vet shows up at an all you can buffet wearing a recruiting tee-shirt that was readily available to the entire population of the US and he is dragging along a service dog with an expression of total horror and embarrassment … Such person should be required to produce a valid MIL indentification card … In the absence of such card and using the look of horror and embarassment on the face of said service dog as evidence of fraud … Immediate public humiliation should be authorized.

Any questions?

C2Show

#7 right there is great part of the process but wishful thinking. MCPO, you know some whiner like this fat fuck in the picture is going to cry foul and threaten to sue a restaurant.

My guess, this guy probably did about 2 years of military service and got dishonorably discharged. He is probably just another scamming fucker.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

C2: Rog all.

However, for those who can see, taste, smell and feel BS in their bones (yes I can) … These situations are no brainers.

And if a suit is in order: Well friggin’ sue me and see what happens!

ExHack

So he now has the Senior Chief and the Master Chief all over his ass.

If he even has a mouse turd of a brain, he will crawl back inside his Family-Size bag of Cheetos and not come out again for a long time.

AW1 Tim

Concur #6.

Every time we even THOUGHT about practice loads, training, etc, with B-57’s, we had to coordinate everything with the Marine detachment several weeks in advance.

They took their jobs extremely seriously and not a single aircrew I knew ever considered messing with them outside of the normal barfight stuff.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

Three other notes:

1. Nancy shut your yap! If you interrupted my dinner the way you did, I would have insisted that YOU be thrown out. And if you were really hungry, I would have paid for the the can of Alpo for you and you could have lapped it up out of a can in the parking lot.

2. Local law enforcement should review this as possible “filing false report” incident.

3. The table on the deck was a great idea. The service dog under duress should have been served up a medium rare porter house, a large slice of ham and a quart of chocolate ice cream at a table set for one! There he could have had a great meal, licked his nuts and ignored the two who have tormented him and the public at large!

One other thing:

He says, “I wake up in the middle of the night … always on the ship.”

Bullshit … Most good Sailors will say … Sea duty although ardous is it fun, crazy, dangerous, happy, sad, techically challenging … But nightmare causing … “Signalman Strike the BS Flags to Port Side”.

I spent a long time at sea … My dreams are much better than that!

Collony you are a dick!

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

Sorry … I meant to say:

Colonlly!

thebesig

Just by reading that, one doesn’t need an FOIA request, or Don Shipley, to know that this idiot was never a SEAL and is pretty much bullshitting about everything else. 🙄

Why did Cooper the dog lick his own ass? To get the taste of Paul Connolly’s bullshit out of his mouth.

Alleged Iraq vet hurt his back. Keeps 14 “Therapeutic” ducks. Village says no, he claims he needs them. Will see if I can find out more on this guy.

He is a quack!

Maybe he’s just a former ship’s poultry keeper, MCPO. (smile)

jonp

Well, hell then. Since this is branching out I am going to keep a therapeutic 14yr old Vietnamese Hooker.

WTF, Therapy Ducks?

CWORet

Umm, a 14yr old, jonp???

Hayabusa

This guy claims PTSD and that he can’t go out in public without a service dog because he participated in a drug sting 30+ years ago?

What a pussy.

jonp

I knew that I recognized him. He was that guy in The French Connection. Now it makes sense

Dave Hardin

Oh the good ole days when a couple of hookers and a fifth of jack made ya feel better. Never though of ducks the sick bastard.

In country South Vietnam 1968-69 tet; USMC w/2-9 cap dogpatch;Marble Mt Mag-16, Zulu Co, HMM361;H&MS16; doorgunner Hueys, 34 & 46..
..to spot a fake..asked him where, when and who he served with…most can’t…I’ve run into many of them..many say they served “everywhere”..some will say “they forgot”,,and then some just change the subject..one guy even wanted me to sign an affidavit at my VA clinic some years ago that I saw him boots in the ground in Vietnam so he could draw va disibily..I told him to wait,,got up and brought back a VA police officer and you guessed it,,he was gone,

some people will do anything for glory or benefits..except to answer the call

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

Sounds like VAMC, 23rd Street, New York, NY. The line at the pharmacy is always very long. And the trading and selling of the dispenced pharms just outside the building is just as busy as a clinic inside the building.

Hondo

His need for a service dog may indeed be legit, and may or may not be related to his military service. Regardless, seems to me he needs to adjust his attitude and quit being a pr!ck demanding special treatment vice accommodation for his disability.

Regarding his military claims: yeah, they seem suspicious as hell to me also. So far, all we have is approx dates of service, branch of service, and a partial name. We still need (1) full name and (2) either (a) SSN or (b) DOB and POB to file a FOIA with a realistic chance of a records “hit”.

If anyone can assist in coming up with the missing info, vector it to me thru Jonn and I’ll be glad to file a FOIA on this guy.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

Hondo,

Rog all. I will be focussing on finding a online discounted dog muzzle for Nancy today.

That is all!

GDContractor

Paul Michael Connolly Jr. born in Minnesota 1953. I have DOB. Should I post it here?

GDContractor

Never mind. Vectored. Not enough coffee yet.

Hondo

Negative. Send to Jonn with request that he vector it to me.

Wouldn’t happen to have the town or county in MN also, would you?

rgr1480

The article says he is 55. So if he’s 55 in 2014, he was born ca. 1959-60. He would have been ca. 17 years old in 1976.

Green Thumb

He needs a warm cup of soup and a hearty handshake.

jonp

This happened in Mass so I expect Obama to immediately come to the “Vets” aid and declare the restaurant acted stupidly.

I was going to say that we should wait to see what his records say but anyone who trots out the ptsd to bring fido into a business and lies about being a seal to get it done has burned the sympathy bridge with me.

Ex-PH2

I seldom get special treatment/help for anything. Most of the time, it’s ‘do it yourself’. But last night, my neihgbor dug the dead rose bush out of my flowerbed and mowed my lawn for me. That’s about all I ever get.

Former AT3

Crap! Their’s a petition to “hold the restaurant accountable.” I hope the sue his lying ass. http://www.thepetitionsite.com/778/839/448/ask-restaurant-in-minnesota-to-be-held-accountable-for-refusing-service-to-vet-with-his-dog/

Even “The Hair” commented. Can’t wait for the FOIA documents. If this guy wants to put this rest he’ll present his DD214 (ain’t gonna happen I know).

It was the 3rd of July, and they were slammed that evening. From the website: “The Restaurant is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Reservations recommended for the Dining Room; otherwise, open seating on a first-come basis in the “Martini Bar” and our deck.” They had no reservation, a large group, a dog that a dining customer had allergies to, and were offered a space on the deck. Regardless, Pauley is a lying POS. Reminds me of that jerk that video taped the young waitress at ‘Chik-Fil-a’ not long ago. She held her presence of mind, he got himself fired and chastised online. Seems like a wonderful idea, although I don’t think Pauley actually has a job. Just lookin’ for a free meal and some undeserved accolades. ‘Ret out..

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

I spoke with someone at restaurant today.

This issue IS not going away.

Our phony “Global Force for Food” isa going to be exposed BIG TIME!

My assessment is much like yours. Showed up at a place way above his pay grade and not within basic understanding … Looking for attention.

Well guess what, you have our attention now!

I would love to see the video … Betcha he is all decked out in Vet garb!

Ta Ta!

OWB

Hmmm. We seriously need to show that restaurant some love. It’s a rather long haul from here, but doesn’t there need to be a TAH northern regional meet up in Brainerd MN in the not too distant future?

Used to know some folks in that neighborhood, but they are a bit past frequently restaurants.

Just an Old Dog

Apparently he and his wife were at the place with a fellow named Woodrow who is involved with a Veteran’s Charity. In the story Woodrow refered to him as a SEAL also.
Its a good chance he has been blowing smoke up people’s asses a LONG time.
His wife seemed to be a full accomplice, making a scene, calling the cops and addressing the customers at the place saying they were picking on her poor hubby.
They started a bullhit petition too.
Sounds like a serious scammer.
They need to be called out.
The service animal crap has to be straightened out too. Too many frauds.

Mark G.

That stupid petition is up to almost 14K signatures now and worldwide.
Can we start another one to expose this assclown as a fraud?

CLAW131

The petition site has deleted all references to his dates of service, type of service claimed, and the NCIS dope sting, etc. It now reads as he is just a poor victim in all this and there was no wrongdoing on his part. Plus the site is now up to almost 17,000 sympathizers.

ArmyATC

Most likely good people who are unaware of his lies.

Just an Old Dog

Funny thing about looking through that mess all the signatures are from for\iegn countries. RThis fucktack had gonr global

Nanima

Hell I’m an Australian Army wife and I can smell the bullshit rolling off this guy from my nice cosy patio in Queensland. In all honestly I’ve been waiting and watching ANZMI for a poser to have an epic meltdown and try blame their past service for not getting their way. Is it wrong that I’m upset it didn’t happen in Australia so I could track said poser down to deliver a throat punch??

I don’t care if him and his dippy wife were offended because they were asked to move outside because they had a dog and another diner had allergies, if you’re a reasonable, well mannered person you get up, walk outside and sit the f**k down.

If you don’t like the idea of having to move to another part of the restaurant, you don’t have a sh*t fit, act like a bunch of braindead morons, call the cops and run to the media. You get up, leave and dine elsewhere.

Can someone update with any further info, a video of throat punch or the look on their faces when their lies catch up to them right in front of a bunch of journos??

– Nanima out.

The only thing he suffers from is SPEWING BULL SHIT. Thats it I cant take it anymore. These people that need a dog so they can go out of the fucking house for a sandwich need to get a clue .. WTF a busy Friday night should be take out or delivery you sad sack of monkey spooge. I am going to start kicking service dogs for not biting their owners head off !

Green Thumb

This dude looks eerily similar to a steaming pile of Phil Monkress that dog drops every morning.

Atkron

A couple of points:

1) The WT’s were the ones that worked on the big boom-boom bombs. Maybe a missileeman did, but wouldn’t they work strictly on the launch vehicle leaving the warheads to the WT’s?

2) Back in his day, and most of mine it was NIS, not NCIS…I still refer to it as such. I would think he most likely would to unless he was a fan of that shit show on TV.

Bobo

WTs were responsible for mating the warheads to the missile and keeping track of the warheads in the magazine.

Missile techs were responsible for the maintenance of the missile and its associated systems.

As a former MT, the only time I saw the warheads was on missile receipt when we verified that the warhead configuration on the missile was the same as the configuration on the paperwork. After that it was nosecone on and buttoned up.

Atkron

Sort of the same deal we had when conducting loads with our B-43, B-57, and B-61 shapes.
