Steve Cushman; phony pilot revisited

| June 24, 2014

Steven Cushman

The other day we wrote a bit about Scotty’s work on Steve Cushman, a fellow running for county commissioner in Florida, some damn where. He did an interview with a local journalist and hinted at a career in the Air Force as a pilot – the Air Reserve Personnel Center told us that he had been an E-3 in the Reserves for about a year. When we published our point of view, Steve shot us a couple of emails and admitted that his “career” had been in an ROTC program and that he had actually flown aircraft for the Air Force and, even though he hadn’t claimed in the interview to be a veteran, he was indeed a veteran.

Well, no, he’s not. He was a college student who was probably also a reservist until he voluntarily left the ROTC program and the Reserves after a whole year of participation. The month that he left coincided with the invasion of Kuwait by Saddam Hussein, by the way. Was it a factor in Cushman’s decision to leave the program? Only he knows the answer to that question.

My problem with him is that he was trying to pass himself off as a careerist pilot. Did he claim it in the interview – well, he said he did seven or eight years in the Air Force and we know that isn’t true. But we got this screen shot of his old Facebook profile from a while back, and he was certainly claiming to be a career Air Force pilot if you scroll to the bottom of the screen shot;

And, oh yeah, there’s this picture that he shows everyone as “proof” of his pilot creds;

Cush9

Yeah, that could be me in that picture for all I know. But it looks to me like an ROTC cadet posing next to jet to impress the chicks back in the dorm.

And then there’s this news report of Steve’s legal woes from a a week or so ago;

In the video he says that most of the lawsuits result from his automotive repair business and that 85% of customers aren’t happy with their car repairs. I guess that’s why he’s not in the business anymore. But he had problems long before this weekend.

I swore in at MEPS the day we attacked Saddam.

Should I file for back combat pay?

Ranger Rick

Haha!

crewchief guy

don’t forget, that’s a t-38 he’s next to, a TRAINING jet. that means absolutely nothing. i’ve got plenty of pics of me with an f-16, doesnt make me a pilot.

(who would want to be a pilot anyway? they never know what they’re doing…)

Instinct

They are good at breaking stuff though. Without them, what would we have had to do if there weren’t flight ops going on?

crewchief guy

that’s true. remember, it takes a college education to break it, and a highschool education to fix it.

Sparks

crewchief guy…You got that right. Four years of college gets them, “hey I think the Nav system is off, or, the radio seems to have a some kinda static”. “Yes sir, we’ll have maintenance take a look at it.” You get in and the knobs and dials are all off or set wrong.

crewchief guy

“yeah, it wont work in the OFFICIAL position”

“the what?”

“the OFFICIAL position, you know, OFF”

Sparks

crewchief guy…ROTFLMAO Thank you I needed that this morning!

Eggs

They do have a handy How Mal code for Operator Error.

torinojon

I had the privilege of using it a few times in CAMS. One of the highlights of my career. 🙂

Sparks

crewchief guy…You Too! Who knew? I stood next to a lot of C-130s at Little Rock AFB. So does that make me an AC-130 Pilot or gunner? (Even though there were no AC-130s at Little Rock, still a C-130 is a C-130) Can I finally claim that now? Man I always wanted to fly on an AC-130 when it was tearing up some shit hole road crossing on Vietnam! They made such pretty light trails in the night sky! That’s it! It’s going on my resume now!

ArmyATC

“(who would want to be a pilot anyway? they never know what they’re doing…)”

Yep. It takes crew chiefs to tell them how to fly and controllers to tell them where to go.

Just an Old Dog

Denny Cheeselayer posed on the other side of the same plane.

OWB

What are the odds that they know each other? Creepy, but oddly funny thought.

OAE CPO USN Ret

Somewhere I have photo’s of me standing next to the following aircraft: UH-1N, F14, AV-8B, SR-71, B-1, B-52, and P-3.

And I had the dubious fortune of having to stand guard on the F-117 during it’s overnight stay for an airshow.

Eat your heart out, I’m a Naval Marine Army Air Force LieutenantCorporalCaptain.

Keep digging Stevie wonderboy. You haven’t quite hit rock bottom yet.

Instinct

I’m sure all this is just some vast conspiracy against him… yeah, that’s it.

Flagwaver

You should see some of the pics I have. I must have been a top secret fighter transport bomber spy pilot or something because I was standing beside an SR-71, F-14, and the Spruce Goose!

streetsweeper

NO! Not the Spruce Goose! My mostest favorite of all time! lol 😎

GDContractor

Too bad he can’t time travel and join CAP back in the 1980’s. If he could then “US Air Force Retired” could be explained away. Of course, moldy documents always help.

Is that Chevy’s fat ass on the port side of that Talon?

OAE CPO USN Ret

He’ll have to wait in line for the time traveling Space Nazi’s to get through with their mission first. If they bump into each other going opposite directions in the time stream, there could be negative consequences.

Sparks

Well Cushman’s old Facebook says Air Force Retired on it plain as day. So I think he’s been rockin’ this crap longer than we know and to more people than we imagine. Bull shit is bull shit. I learned the fine art of bull shit story telling in the military by listened mostly, to the dreaded, worthless, “lifer” NCO’s. (Man I hated them!) The one’s with a permanent finger bend to fit a coffee cup and a bulge in their pocket from a Pinochle deck. Didn’t do a lick of work, just kissed ass to the the First Shirt and CO. Gathered young troops around them who didn’t know any better and told them bull shit stories ALL DAY LONG. And if the young troop was a future “lifer” in the making and really sucked it up and always wanted to hear more, the NCO “lifer” would keep him close and give him great assignments and cushy work details. Never to do “cigarette butt police up the area”, again. But I digress in my memories of old things that still gnaw on me. To the point, Cushman was better off not in the military. We didn’t need more of his kind to endure.

Delilah T.

He ran a repair shop and his customers didn’t like the results. He has an inflated ego and sneers at the peons who he thinks will be silly enough to vote for him. And he concocts stories about his ‘career’ in the USAF.

Yes, I think being a politician was definitely the next step for him. Politics is frequently a do-nothing-get-paid lucrative job that requires no more than showing up and voting ‘yes’ or ‘no’, as we all know so well.

Look what we go with the last guy like that.

Thunderstixx

All I ever got to do was to ride in the back of a deuce and a half and snowshoe all over Alaska….
We did have Huey’s, but they took them away from us to save gas, they also took away our bullets to save… Oh I don’t know, gunpowder…

Combat Historian

Hey, don’t mess with this guy; he’s AFROTC Retired…Oops, he didn’t even “retire” from AFROTC, but dropped out after a year…pure poser shitbag…

Atkron

As a Plane Captain on A-7E’s and F/A-18C’s I used to ride brakes during tows on the ship and back at the beach. I wonder if that qualifies me for?

streetsweeper

Qualifies you for…riding brakes? lol.

NHSparky

I got more stick time flying the carny airplane rides at the county fair than this clown ever had, so can I head over and get me some of those badass Naval Aviator wings to go over my fish?

Green Thumb

Dude needs to pack up and head to Merritt Island.

BMallow

Don’t send him down here. How about back to Texas.

Green Thumb

He could be the official corporate pilot for All-Points Logistics.

Just an Old Dog

No Texas, He could fly Drones for Chevy and Associates.

ArmyATC

From crooked businessman to politician. That’s a natural progression for shitbags like him. I wonder how many people actually went to his shop because he claimed retired AF service.

Otto

As a proud retired Air Force Navigator, in the history of the Air Force, NO ONE take their “hero photo” in blues next to their airplane, it’s always in a flight suit.

Poetrooper

That caught my eye too, Otto. I spent almost three decades calling on military physicians, many of them flight surgeons, and on all of those glory walls I’ve had the opportunity to peruse while waiting for the doctor, I never ever saw one of them posing by an aircraft in anything but a flight suit.

3/17 Air Cav

One thing these shitbag posers seem to have in common. They all want to “Talk The Talk” but never Walk The Walk.

I’ve read a lot of rebuttal by wannabes on this sight. But never one as condescending, looking down their nose, that screams that hey, I’m smarter than you, that was directed at Jonn.

What a asshole!

3/17 Air Cav

Site not sight damnit

USMCE8Ret

…and he graduated from Denton High School in 1987. He ran either cross country or track. (I knew of this guy, but didn’t know him personally. DHS was a relatively small school back then). It’s plausible he attended the University of North Texas, but I’m sure a call to the school or AFROTC Det 835 would verify his attendance at the school.

He claims to have worked at a cattle ranch in Denton. Which one?

Denton County Texas court records show he has some litigation behind him, to include his car repair business in that city. The site doesn’t list specifics of the cases, but its a coincidence he’s having litigation in FL for similar issues.

I can’t post the Denton County records here, but if you type his name under CIVIL, FAMILY & PROBATE CASE RECORDS, unspecific info about the cases appear:

http://justice1.dentoncounty.com/PublicAccess/default.aspx

Ex-PH2

Maybe he went to Texas Women’s University. Used to be Texas State College for Women.

Or maybe he’s just full of –it.

HMCS(FMF) ret

Looks like he tried to sue the Denton PD… and at least three issues with his first divorce (deadbeat dad?). Also, he seems to have the same “mad lawer skills” as the one that shall not be named…

Cushman takes in the tush, man

Just an Old Dog

The most daning thing about this isnt that he has had Lawsuits in court. Divorce and Foreclosures are something even the best people have.
His company got sued by a flipping SCHOOL DISTRICT. Do you know how blatantly you have to screw up something to get a School district to sue?
Then he talks about 85% of the people being unhappy because their car broke down and it wasn’t “his fault”.
Well despite his smug little attitude and low opinion of the publicat large, most people who sue repair shops do so because the car broke down do to improper repairs.
If your company is constantly being sued its because you are a fuck up.

2/17 Air Cav

I just like the fact that he was caught BEFORE he took office. Most politicians don’t start their games until after they’re seated. In Congress, anyway, it’s as if they say, ‘Okay, those morons bought all of that bullshit. Now, what’s in this for me? How many lobbyists called to welcome me? Anybody in my parking space? Where’s the gym? Write me a bill. No, make it three. That way we can prove I didn’t do absolutely nothing my first term.’

Too cynical? Name me an honest politician and I’ll show you a one-termer.

Green Thumb

I he a Instructor at Tallahassee Community College as stated in the video?

Or is that bullshit as well?

Green Thumb

Keyboard is sticking.

IS…

James Long

No BS, pawns himself off as a professor

Green Thumb

I guessed as much.

Does he teach?

AverageNCO

I said it on the earlier post, but I’ll repeat it here. I think the E-3 designation is from him signing a contract after completing his ROTC camp in San Antonio. When cadets finish their advance camp, prior to starting their 3rd year of college, they sign a contract. As part of the contrct they collect a stipend equivalent to E-3 base pay. The contract also says they have owe Uncle Sam a two-year enlisted tour if they drop out of ROTC, or Mommy & Daddy have to pay back any stipend/scholarship money they have received. I wonder how he got out of that?

arealveteran

No confirmation on this but wondering if all the businesses and bankruptcies happen to be more of his lies and games. Could he be applying for loans under the tax id numbers and skipping out? If he did it with the ROTC program why would he stop there?

rb325th

Steve Cushman, fake air force pilot, phony veteran, apparent habitual liar, and honor thief. GFY! You are not a Veteran, never have been, never will be!
