Bachmann Aide; Marine pretender
Javier Sanchez, the senior legislative aide to Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) who was arrested last week for stealing money from the Congresswoman’s office looks like he may have embellished his career as a Marine, according to Talking Points Memo. They claim that they have his records and that he served with the Marines 1994 – 2002, but other people, not Sanchez himself, have mischaracterized his service. TPM says that the highest rank that he achieved was sergeant, and that he left the Marines as a Lance Corporal, but on several news shows, like Fox News, he has been referred to as a captain and that he served in Bosnia and Iraq, but his records indicate that he never served in those conflicts;
The Marines released the military service record matching Sanchez’s name and age to TPM on Wednesday. It showed that he served from 1994 until 2002 and was stationed at Parris Island in South Carolina, Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, Camp Butler in Okinawa, Japan and at American embassies in Manama, Bahrain and Tokyo, Japan, and bases in Quantico and Arlington, Va. The highest rank he achieved was that of sergeant, according to the records.
At some of Sanchez’s public appearances, however, he was described as a Marine who had served in Iraq and Bosnia, and as having achieved the much higher rank of captain.
To be clear, there appears to be no evidence immediately available that Sanchez directly made false claims during his public appearances. The conflicts came when other people introduced him at events or described his history. But Sanchez appears to have done nothing to dispute these characterizations of him.
Yeah, not only did he not dispute the claims about his service, the people who made those pronouncements must’ve gotten the information from somewhere, most probably Sanchez himself. And the fact that he’s been charged with theft, only proves that folks who lie about their service have other criminal flaws.

Looks like he did a tour, reenlisted for Embassy duty, got promoted to Sergeant, stepped on his crank, was busted to Lance Cooley and pretty much had to get out at 8.
Would want to know whats behind that, he could have been a real dirtbag, but its easy as hell to get busted out on embassy duty.
I served with some pretty good guys that either failed out of school or got relieved early for minor screw ups. They have zero tolerance for any misbehavior ( especially involving alcohol) when you are part of an Embassy Detachment.
Every eye is on you, whether you are on post or not. You can get shit canned for farting in formation. Literally.
Maybe this dumbass is one of those mythical “Lance Colonels”.

#7: Like almost all good civvies, Bachmann’s chief-of-staff probably took numbnuts’ USMC resume at face value and assumed everything was true and he/she was giving an OIF vet a well-deserved break. These civvies probably do not have a friggin clue as to how to go about vetting a vet’s resume and the claims made therein…
Worth pointing out the Congressman Tim Walz from MN has done the same thing-been introduced on national TV as a combat vet and not immediately corrected the record. No one seemed to care about that.

I’d remind everybody that Bachmann was the first Republican to start calling for cuts to veterans’ benefits. maybe if her aides weren’t liars and thieves that might not have happened.

You know what sucks? The Cap Po-Po set up a sting. The bait was $80 in one envelope and $120 in another. Thus, Senor Sanchez is charged only with misdemeanor theft. He’ll probably get a PBJ (that is, probation before judgment)and serve not 5 minutes. Of course, he’ll probably get hired by some Democrat now and end up in better shape than ever.

There does seem to be a high correlation between Stolen Valor and other real crimes. There’s evidence that John Giduck violated PA state ethics statutes, had ITAR violations, and has had really bad hair days.
I was once introduced as “The smartest man in Seattle”. I immediately corrected the fellow by saying that since neither he nor I had met all of the men in Seattle he had no basis for that statement. He amended the statement to say that I was the smartest man that he had ever met in Seattle. All one needs to do when a third party misstates your bio is to immediately correct their error. That’s what people of integrity do as a matter of honor.
Here’s my two cents… if you go from Sgt to LCpl you either screwed up once really big and got a court-martial which took two ranks at once….. or you screwed up twice kinda big and had Bn or higher NJP which took one stripe at a time.
Either way, he was going to be out at EAS and really no chance at re-enlisting.
So he’s either one big turd or two medium turds hooked together.

Bosnia? Wow, I had more fun working in Bosnia than any other job I’ve ever had. I felt like I didn’t even a weapon there…but when I go to places like Oakland, CA, I take 2 with me and a few friends with guns.
