Today’s feel good story

| April 16, 2012

CavRick sends a link to story with a very happy ending in Jacksonville, NC when three Marines dispatched two gentlemen who happened to be minding their own business inside the Marines’ home;

“This was not a typical home invasion” since the residents interrupted their attackers instead of the assailants barging into an occupied home, Yaniero said, adding that there was no indication the residents knew the decedents.

While the investigation in still in its early stages, the three residents involved are not likely to face criminal charges, authorities said.

The residents have not been officially identified by authorities. They were transported to Onslow Memorial Hospital, treated and released. One resident, a male, had visible injures to one of his arms, which were from a shotgun blast, according to neighbors who also said one of the residents was hit in the head.

Telecommunications traffic during police response to the incident indicated that there were four to five assailants in the house.

NCIS isn’t identifying the Marines yet, but there seems to be no doubt that the two gentlemen who have since gone to the arms of their Lord meant harm to the Marines. There seems to be an inevitable end for criminals in Jacksonville;

The shooting marked the second time in a week an occupant has killed an alleged intruder in Onslow County.

And there’s not much sympathy in the community for these two gentlemen;

Neighbors have rallied behind the residents, saying they would have done the same thing.

Of course, according to the article, the community is made up of current and retired Marines. Bad choice for criminals, actually.

Well, I don’t know if it’s a feel good story for you, but I feel better that two criminals and potential murderers have left this world to meet their eternity.

Apparently these two douche bags (dead ones…the best kind) slept through the block of instruction on “Selecting Victims” and never ever heard of “Understanding the Operational Environment”, considering the high percentage of Marines living there.

Classic case of “SAOAFR”.

Kudos to the Marines…speedy recovery to the two injured men.

Bobo

I live in a decidedly USMC heavy neighborhood just out the back gates of Quantico. The running joke there is that, of all the possible crimes, home invasion has the least probability of success.

Spigot

WARNING: unless you really want to get pissed off and spike your BP this late in the afternoon, do NOT go to the link and read comments from the two dead animals “peers”.

Seems like they were really good guys…in spite of multiple felony raps, etc.

One stupid bitch even said that killing them was a “…murder…”, but I’ll give her this much credit…she spelled the word correctly in her comment.

Fucking animals…

Kevin

Give them some time… I’m sure they’ll be able to find pictures of those two when they’re twelve years old…

El Marco

Yup…I feel better. Already the world seems a better place with more oxygen.

CavRick

They have not bothered to read NC’s new Castle Doctrine law.

CavRick

Spigot and Kevin I work in a prison here in eastern NC not far from Jacksonville. Both of them were our guests for a while. All I can find of them are their mugshots, the same ones in the article. It really takes a galatically stoooooping person to pull something like this in Jacksonville. Then again we get of Army CID folks coming to the prison wanting to talk to inmates from around Ft. Bragg.

AW1 Tim

I guess this line from the article proves that editing is a lost art:

“During the fight Skinner and Everette were killed, and later pronounced dead at the scene.”

Sigh.

Hack Stone

They are lucky they didn’t try pulling this shit at the home of 1st Sgt Brian Camacho. He would have pulled a snatch and grab on them faster than you can say stolen valor.

OWB

Well done, Marines!

The Old One

And the world has lost two aspiring rap artists…such a crying shame!

NHSparky

I’m just waiting for one of the friends of the “yutes” to show up like they’ve done for other recently deceased and make the same, “But they was GOOD boys!” claims.

The Old One

But,but, but, Sparky…they were just turning their lives around…

NHSparky

You know, If I saw every one of those shitstains who’s mommies, daddies, and homies claimed they were “just turning their lives around” I swear I’d get so dizzy I’d puke.

Now all we need are the guys from Long Island popping in to tell us that had the cops been there, they would have been wrong to shoot them too.

Yeah, if you’re lurking (although I doubt it) you know who I’m talking about.

CI Roller Dude

You mean the media hasn’t fucked this up to make the Marins look like they were at fault for defending their home? Wow, I’m shocked…they must have missed it.

GOOD FUCKING JOB Marines.

Marine_7002

Wonder what their death certificates will show as the cause of death.

Is “terminal stupidity” a category of death in the coroner’s handbook?

UpNorth

OK, all I can ask is, which one had the Arizona Iced Tea and which one was carrying the Skittles?

PintoNag

The intruders were in the Marine’s home.

Case closed. Tag ’em, Dano.

streetsweeper

Why does this most excellent news article put a really huge grin on my ugly mug? Per Marine_7002 Is “terminal stupidity” a category of death in the coroner’s handbook? Absolutely fricking priceless! HAHA! Best wishes to these men recovering from injuries sustained. No wonder I keep a Mossberg loaded and parked in the garage….

Old Tanker

Marine 7002

Acute lead poisoning……..

Yat Yas 1833

Close encounter with a discharged projectile?

NHSparky

185 grain deceleration trauma brought on by terminal case of the dumbass.

Yeah, in the, “Play stupid games, win stupid prizes,” they just took everything off the top shelf.

TacticalTrunkMonkey

They must have woke up that morning, and had a HUGE bowl of “down syndrome”.

The must have caught the “Bullet Flu”. It’s an airborne virus, moves rather quickly, and is easily passed from person to person in a matter of seconds.

NC laws are kind of weird when it comes to home invasion, unless they’ve changed since I went through my CCH course. You can shoot someone through your front door if they are trying to gain entry, but when they gain entry you have to make a “reasonable attempt to retreat”, which I call “getting into the weaver stance”. Fuckin idiots got what they deserved.

Redacted1775: if you attended prior to 1 Dec of last year, NC law may well have changed since you took the course. The original article linked to by Jonn’s above indicates that NC law regarding home invasion and use of deadly force changed last December. What happened here appears to be completely OK under the new law. Not an NC resident, so I’m not sure.

Where I grew up, these formerly-breathing oxygen wasters would have been called “ate up with the dumbass”. I think Marine_7002 just used the technical term for same above. (smile)

The news article said that there were 4-5 assailants. I know some states allow murder charges if any death occurs in the comission of a crime, regardless of who it is, suspect or victim. Can the survivors be charged with their accomplices death under NC law?

Redacted1775

Yeah I took it in 2006. No more retreat :D.

Hondo

J.M.: I believe that’s generally referred to as the “felony murder” rule. And North Carolina does seem to be one of the states that allow all perpetrators of a crime to be convicted of murder if any death occurs during the commission of a burglary or armed robbery.

Redacted1775: Please double-check; I’m only relaying what the article says. I’m neither a lawyer nor a NC resident, and if the article’s wrong – then I’m wrong.

Hondo

Addendum: 29 above should begin “Please double-check with a reliable source (e.g., a lawyer, a law enforcement pro, or find and read the law yourself); I’m . . . .”

J.M.

@28: So the survivors could be caught and sent away for their accomplices dying, sweet.

Redacted1775

Eh, if I end up relocating to NC next year I have to renew my permit anyways. I have plenty of time to check, granted, I’m hoping I never have to stave off a home invasion. Still never hurts to be prepared though.

Old Trooper

@3: It is said many times by the relatives and friends of room temperature thugs that “he was a good boy”, or my personal favorite “he was just turning his life around”. It’s almost as if they think the public is stupid and will ignore a criminal rap sheet and believe your pontifications, instead.

I guess the rest of the country hasn’t got the memo put out by that city councilman that told people that they should just be a victim and not fight back?
