BOLO Michael Allen Bradshaw; phony vet grifter
Michael Allen Bradshaw has been telling people in the Duluth, GA area that he’s a wounded Iraq veteran and abandoned by the Army and the Veterans Affairs Department to solicit funds to support his wife and child. You can tell by the mug shot that’s not true. He also ripped off the local VFW for a few hundred bucks until they finally checked on him and discovered that he was dishonorably discharged in May 2001 – before he could have had a chance to serve in Iraq.
He told an emotional story about being a U.S. Army veteran who was wounded in Iraq when he and his Sergeant drove over a roadside bomb.
Bradshaw claimed he’d just been released from a VA hospital in Texas and that he, his wife and 13-month-old daughter were in need of money.
After being shown what appeared to be some convincing paperwork, Dain gave Bradshaw $100 in cash he had planned to use to buy his own child some clothes. He also gave him a $100 Kroger gift card. His church reimbursed him for all $200.
He was also in Roswell, GA last year working the same scam there;
According to investigators, Bradshaw received $350 from VFW Post 7583 after claiming to be a non-commissioned Army officer who was wounded in Iraq. Bradshaw also submitted fraudulent documents to the post, including an application for admittance to the VFW and an affidavit requesting money for a Purple Heart.
Roswell police said the VFW manager became suspicious and ordered Bradshaw’s military records, which revealed that he was discharged from the Army for misconduct in 2001. He never actually served in Iraq and wasn’t wounded in combat.
Someone is asking for a serious curb-stomping. Apparently, he’s still on the loose and anyone who knows his whereabouts is urged to contact the Duluth police at 770-476-4151.

IMO, the fool picked the wrong area in which to pull this. Outside of Atlanta proper, Georgia is quite conservative and supportive of vets. I’m guessing he leaves town PDQ to avoid getting his ass kicked repeatedly.
It seems his honor remains lacking in civilian life as well.
But once again, SV is just freedom of speech and a victimless crime, right?

NHSparky: GA ain’t in the 9th Circus’ jurisdiction. If he actually claimed to have a Purple Heart, this worthless shit-for-brains might actually have Federal charges to worry about. Personally, I hope he does.

Is he only working this around Georgia? He looks like the guy who tried something similar to me here a couple years ago in El Paso. Trying to say he was a soldier heading to California with kid and his truck broke down. Asked to see his ID and he ran off.

@Jonn Lilyea – Georgia will recognize a CCW from any state that recognizes ours, so check to make sure your state isn’t imposing requirements more stringent than Georgia’s and thus not willing to recognize ours (ours just requires a background check, no training requirements).

In Arizona if your 21 you can carry concealed w/o a permit. I have one just to be safe. I think we have the most lax fire arm laws in the country.
Yat Yas 1833: one of the most lax. Alaska, VT, and WY also don’t require a permit.
Jonn – available public records link a 33 year-old Michael Allen Bradshaw to 9 different addresses in Effingham and Dekalb Counties in Georgia, Roane and Hamilton Counties in Tennessee and one address in Honolulu.
One more recent address is the Erlanger Health Systems campus on East 3rd St Chattanooga TN. (Teaching hospital, not a residential address. maybe he worked/works there)
Another more recent address is Ranch Road in Bloomingdale GA
Not 1000% sure this is the dude, but the age and location match up.
