Timberlake follows through

| November 14, 2011

OND_Soldier sends a link to the story that Justin Timberlake followed through on the invitation he received from a Marine to attend the Marine Corp Ball with her.

According to local television station WTVR, the wife of one of the marines at the ball said Timberlake ‘posed for pictures and seemed like a normal guy’.

At his website
, Timberlake seems grateful for the invitation;

I had the honor and privilege last night of attending The Basic School Instructor Battalion 236th Marine Corps Birthday Ball at the Greater Richmond Convention Center with Corporal Kelsey DeSantis…

I knew I would have an evening that I wouldn’t forget… Something I could tell my friends about. What I didn’t know was how moved I would be by the whole experience.

I’ve always been very vocal about my support of our Armed Forces. I’ve always felt like they offered us the opportunity to live our lives freely without the fear that so many other nations have to endure still to this day. And, they do it without asking for anything in return. I had this very feeling walking into this dinner. So, to say I was stoked to be there would be more than accurate.

Good on Mister Timberlake. Nice to see that not everyone in Hollywood is a totally self-centered drug-addicted douchebag.

And yeah, I say it from first-hand experience.

What a great story. Could celebrity Hollywood be redeemable?

CI

My first inclination with a guy like Timberlake was to be suspicious of his motives, but it sounds like he was a stand up guy.

I wonder if Mila Kunis followed through? Timberlake was the one who prodded her to accept the offer, before he, himself was asked.

Good on him for keeping his word. His stock has gone up.

OND_Soldier

If the linked article is correct, the ball Kunis is attending will be this Friday.

@2. No.

@3. Agree.

Guess I’m being a grouch this morning, but it strikes me as somewhere beyond sad that someone (be it a celeb or anyone else) doing the right thing becomes a note worthy event.

#3, Corporal DeSantis is one of the best HTH combat instructors in the Corps. I doubt he would get far if he tried to get fresh with her.

#7 – OWB, I think it’s just nice to see a celebrity show himself to be a guy of integrity and class, who appreciates the military. THAT’s the real news here. It doesn’t happen often. Most of them are self-centered assholes. The fact that Timberlake turned out not to be a celebutard to me is newsworthy. I kind of always thought he was a prick.

He’s prob not perfect, nor am I generally interested in celebrities, but he said something HONORABLE AND RESPECTFUL and put the emphasis on those it should be on. It got him good press, sure, but he didn’t milk it. Good on him.

And man, CPL DeSantis is gorgeous. I’m glad they had a good time!

a mail to him thanking him for supporting our troops wouldn’t be out of order here. Thanks to Mr. Timberlake for stepping forward like a man and doing what he said he would. Of course, the fact the Marine is blond and beautiful had NOTHING to do with it…

I am shocked to read this. Thanks to Timberlake for his words AND actions. It is refreshing to see someone behave like this in hollywierd. Yes good press and all but seriously you think he needs it? I kind of hope this can rub off on some of his fans and friends (not saying all his fans and friends are hater hippies but…..)
