The Other Shoe?
A friend sent this link along.
One of Kerry’s enablers in propounding his imaginary heroism was a man named Wade Sanders, who himself held a Silver Star, and who introduced Kerry to the Democratic Convention. Scott Swett, who was central to the unraveling of the Kerry storyline, tells us that the Kerry enabler has been exposed for what he is. His Winter Soldier site has the details:
John Kerry was introduced at the 2004 Democratic National Convention by Wade Sanders, a retired Navy Captain and former Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy who served as a Swift Boat officer in Vietnam. Like Kerry, Sanders was the recipient of a Silver Star for gallantry in action. During the 2004 campaign, Sanders functioned as Kerry lead attack dog against the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, repeatedly denouncing the veterans on the air as liars and comparing them to Nazi propagandists.
Wade Sanders is now in Federal prison, serving a 37-month sentence for possessing child pornography. Now the Navy Times reports that Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus has revoked Sanders’ Silver Star. The highly unusual decision appears unrelated to Sanders’ felony conviction. A Navy spokesman cited “subsequently determined facts and evidence surrounding both the incident for which the award was made and the processing of the award itself.” John Kerry has to be hoping this doesn’t become a trend.
Not much to add. Child porn is disgusting unless yer a member of a certain peaceful religious group (look it up), but I highlighted the kicker for me. Looks like a stolen valor case, but I don’t have the skill set or time to explore that aspect.

Wow.
Karma is a bitch.
If I may add, for some reason, the Navy Times has not posted their story of this on the internet, but Politico quotes their print version;
“Had the subsequently determined facts and evidence surrounding both the incident for which the award was made and the processing of the award itself been known to the Secretary of the Navy in 1992, those facts would have prevented the award of the Silver Star,” [Mabus spokeswoman Pamela] Kunze said.
That the dude was thrown in the jug for the kiddie porn isn’t what caught the eye in this story and could have been left out of the story completely. I want to know why his award was revoked and what the initial awarding of the SS was for.
MilitaryCorruption dot com has a post on this as well, citing the Navy made the decision in 2010 based on ‘new information.’ (http://militarycorruption.com/wadesanders.htm)
Thinking about it, the Navy played pretty fast and loose with awards back then: Kerry put himself in for, and received some medals. Admiral Boorda wore ribbons/medals/appurtenances that he wasn’t authorized either. Why wouldn’t other folks have sidled onto the gravy train if there were no controls?
DaveO #5: Yeah, Scott referred me to similar info. Thanks!
#4- exactly.
And was John Kerry involved somehow in the awarding of the SS in 1992?
I can hardly wait for the day when I can shit on John Kerry’s grave!
So there was a question about the three purple hearts, and the SS he might of might not have earned, this guy is a winner. Just out of curiosity, didn’t he also commit perjury in front of the senate? I’m pretty sure 99% of the “winter soldier” testimony had been proven false.
The wikifolk are having this huge meltdown in their discussion area on a lack of a source on this one. Does anyone have an actual hard copy of the Navy Times that they can look it up on? Not that I doubt this really, but every source goes back to the same thing (the swiftboat link). Hard to get anymore info on this, and I am REALLY CONFUSED on how the Navy could hold this shit back. Obviously no National Security implication if what they are saying is that this never happened. I would think a FOIA would get the info immediately. So, just kinda confused.
Can anyone think of a way the Navy can avoid the FOIA on this? I’m not entirely clear on how that law works.
Doc Bailey #9: Reckon yer kinda shifting things a bit. This Sanders puke is already in jail. I do hope that stripping him of his SS is the most gentle of his punishments. Been a while since I’ve seen the inside of ‘A Correctional Facility’, but pedophiles have a special place.
Kerry is a different story. Some of us Nam types will happily reopen THAT issue, but perhaps not here?
TSO #10: Jonn found it and Scott told me on the phone that that print copy of The Navy Times is/was his reference.
It is worthy of note that the decision appears to have been made last year.
I have no/zero/nil experience with FOIA.
Here is an interesting tidbit…..
When this assclown was downloading his kiddie porn, he was the “Veterans Affairs Advisor” to then then LT Gov of California. That former Lt Gov is now a Congressman from California, I’ll let you guess which party.
I wonder what that Rep thinks of his prior employee now.
And thanks Zero, I was just trying to head off that avenue of retreat early if possible. Pretty shitty of Navy Times not to post an e-copy. If they wanted traffic, this would have helped.
Shit, I’d post stuff about Jonn if I thought it would drive traffic.
@#14:
Some super secret ninja squirrel you are, ya rat bastard.
LOL
I gave up my subscription to the Marine Corp Times about two years ago. They are part of the main stream media and everything that entails. I’m surprised they even printed a story concerning a senator from the “Name that party”.
Interestingly, on page 6 of that completely disgusting “Sentencing Memorandum” is this tidbit:
“Defendant believes that his interest in “researching” child pornography is related to obsessive compulsive behavior, a condition he developed while serving in Vietnam.”
That’s a new one. I suppose he never had the condition before.
BTW, I had to quit reading that memo about page 8 – I had to go puke.
I’m just wondering what is the process for revoking awards. I’ve never heard of that being done after they’ve been awarded. I’m sure there’s some FOBbits sweating they’ll lose their BSM.
[…] Kerry enabler, Wade Sanders who lost his Silver Star to enhanced scrutiny at the Navy Department, Zero wrote about it and we discussed it last night. So I’m not ignoring your emails, I’m trying to give you […]
Hey has anyone found out the cause for the revocation yet? I’m pretty sure someone will eventually put a FOI request in soon.
#8 Do you really want to wait in that long line? Once out of the Army I vowed to never to stand in a line again.
#17: OCD is usually linked to PTSD by the VA.
#5.
I think after his suicide, Admiral Boorda was exonerated of the charge of wearing unauthorized ribbons/medals/appurtenances.
#23 Susan – yes, AFTER he’d removed himself from the situation.
John Kerry sent a letter on Senate stationary to the judge asking for a mitigation of the jail time due to Sanders being a Navy hero, with a silver star. It appears he got a much reduced sentence for that reason. I wonder if the revocation has any consequences. Does he get to continue with his military retirement after serving federal time? Or has someone stepped in to have it continued. I wonder if John Kerry had any review of his medals……lot’s of doubts from those that served with him. I believe Sanders was in a position in government to have helped enhancement of his award and maybe others……..he was friendly with.
[…] J. F. Kerry gives JGs a bad name and those guys need all the help they can get. And now this clown. […]
Just to establish a timeline, can anyone ferret out the actual date of Sanders’ appointment as “Deputy Assistant” to SECNAV and the actual date of his SS award? Surely the award (sometime in 1992 according to all reports) preceded the “DA” appointment (either at or sometime after Clinton’s inaugural).
It’s certainly plausible that the SS was solicited to inflate his CV for the position and one can’t help but wonder if Kerry didn’t play an active part in the substantiation of the award in the first place…and that would be reflected in the documentation, no?
