Sorry, Ward, I couldn’t do it
While I was at the protest today, I got a chance to talk to Ward Reilly and Bill Perry. Bill told me that if there weren’t so many witnesses around, he’d have punched me. I laughed. Then he complained that I posted the video of him admitting that his testimony at Winter Soldier I was BS. You’re right, Bill, you can’t hear much on that video, but you and I know what you said.
Reilly complained that I shouldn’t talk about him like I do. If you missed the post it’s here. Then I followed up with this one.
Reilly complained that he never said he was a Ranger, that his unit called themselves the 1/16th Infantry (Rangers). And that he’d turned me into the 1st Infantry Division Association and that “they hate you, too.” I said it was “Iron Rangers” and that I was a member of the 1st Infantry Division Association and no one had ever mentioned it to me. I said I was a member because I went to actual combat with the Big Red One.
At that moment I figured it was stupid to argue over it and I told myself that I’d lay off Ward.
But, then he walked away and I noticed this on his hat;
That’s a Ranger Tab above the 1st Infantry Division patch. If you go to the first link, you’ll notice that Reilly didn’t go to Ranger School and he’s not authorized to wear a Ranger tab. I don’t know why he’d have that tab on his hat if he’s not trying to convince people he’s a school-trained Ranger. So, sorry, Ward, no breaks here – all bets are off.

Another phony sack o shit. What a shock.
Can’t that be taken as stolen valor yet?
There going after the Colorado c_cksmoker for claiming he was a Marine, why not for a Faux Ranger?
Whoever falsely represents himself or herself, verbally or in writing, to have been awarded any decoration or medal authorized by Congress for the armed forces of the United States, or any of the service medals or badges awarded to the members of such forces, or the ribbon, button, or rosette of any such badge, decoration or medal, or any colorable imitation thereof shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than six months, or both.
Check with the Ranger Assoc.
They eat this guys ass for breakfast.
TSO, in my humble legal opinion, wearing a Ranger tab when one is not authorized to wear one should be covered under the language quoted above. Further, if it is not, well it damn well should be. I strongly suggest that the next time this asshat is anywhere with that hat, which is probably always, you get extensive photographic evidence (try to get a shot with the hat and his face) and refer this to the US Attorney for prosecution. You may not get very far at first, but my experience is that repeated hounding eventually gets even the most recalcitrant prosecutor moving.
Ward Reilly is truly a despicable POS. He certainly does not merit a Ranger tab at all. The 16th Infantry however did, and may still, go by the plural name of “Rangers” that was supposedly earned in WW II in support of the actual Ranger unit. Viewing the tab on the hat Reilly is wearing, it looks to be a plural spelling. I do not think the “Rangers” tab is authorized like the official Ranger” tab?
This is how he signed that wacko E-mail he sent me: Ward Reilly

Looks to me like he is implying to be a “Ranger”…..
I like that he’s wearing tiger stripe as well. Something I highly doubt he ever did while with 1/16.
Spade: In the book Charlie Rangers, the authors talk about going to the dedication of the Vietnam Memorial and noticing that there were more people there wearing tiger stripe fatigues than there were people authorized to wear them in Vietnam.
1st Cav: That is definitely a Ranger tab above the Big Red One. It is in the proper place for a Ranger tab, for those authorized to wear one. I am not authorized to wear one, I was around enough of them, but in order to wear it; the wearer would have to earn it, something I think Reilly wouldn’t be able to do. With his mindset, maybe he should pin on a CIB, also, since he was probably in a unit that had a few guys that were wearing it.
We had a faux Ranger with us who made it all the way to Kuwait before he was outed. I ran into him on a FOB some time later and his life was made completely miserable as his name was firmly planted on the 11B grapevine. They not only dumped his arse back on the line, but it was known to all who ever would come into contact with him about his fraud. His wife even sent emails trying to defend him and how they should be nice to her husband, which as one can imagine, made matter worse.
Worst part of all of it was that the soldiers really liked this guy and many even looked up to him. I do believe that all he really wanted was to serve, and being an older guy, thought he needed the tab to impress everyone. Just checked on AKO, and he is now a SSG with the same unit so glad to see he made it through. I’m willing to forgive that guy b/c on some level I see where he was coming from, and he persevered. This Reilley guy is absolutely leading people to believe he is tabbed to further his own ego/political agenda, and that is irreprehensible.
Again, Reilly couldn’t handle Cold War mechanized grunt duties in Germany back in the day & now he’s sporting the coveted Ranger tab??!! My brain hurts… And decking out in Tigers or OG-107 cammies like he was a Vietnam war LRRP makes you wonder if he’s compensating for an overzealous circumcision.
Good job on getting the picture. I would have probably grabbed the boony hat as evidence and completely forgotten about the cord around his neck.
I think it is funny that his mind is so highly compartmentalized that he probably sees no conflict between wearing a Ranger tab while telling you that he never claimed to be a Ranger but rather was simply with a unit called the “Iron Rangers.”

Great, now the posers have a green light.
Thanks for working to expose those that steal the honor of combat veterans and heroes. Please keep up the great work.

I too am glad to see that he took his lumps like a man.
I have no hard feelings (even though I NEVER earned the tab so I have no room to talk) about anyone that embelishes their stuff, get found out, take their lumps, and go on to do great things.
I guess I can forgive and forget…it’s the jack*ss’ that get out/never served that do it and have NO way of making amends (too old/batsh*t crazy to serve honorably).
Am I wrong for thinking this way? Too compassionate?

Ya know fellas, I’m really starting to think it’s ok to let them live their lie. On their last day they’re gonna have to face themselves and admit TO THEMSELVES, they’re liars! They’re gonna have to admit to St. Peter they’re liars, if they make it that far. Otherwise, they’re gonna have to admit it to Satan that they’re liars and he ain’t gonna care. I know on my last day I’ll be able to look myself in the mirror and report to St. Peter, another MARINE reporting Sir, I did my time honorably.
Old, gnarly shitbaggy loser.
This clown is priceless.
