Fired Parkland School Shooting Cop Reinstated

| May 14, 2020

Not one, but four Broward sheriff’s deputies upon arrival, stayed behind their cars instead of storming the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., during the horrific shooting there.

When police from the Coral Springs, Fla., Police Department arrived at the scene, they were shocked to find Broward County Sheriff’s deputies hiding behind their cars with weapons drawn.

Sgt. Brian Miller was one of them.

Deputy fired over Parkland school shooting to be reinstated with back pay: reports

By Brie Stimson

A Florida sheriff’s sergeant who lost his job after it was discovered he hid behind his car when a shooter at a high school in Parkland first opened fire will reportedly get his job back with back pay.

Sgt. Brian Miller, of the Broward Sheriff’s Office, was the first supervisor to respond to the 2018 shooting that took the lives of 17 students and staff at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

An arbitration ruling this week found the sheriff’s office “violated” Miller’s “constitutional due process rights and improperly terminated him,” the BSO Deputies Association, a union that represents deputies and sergeants said, according to the Miami Herald.

Miller will also receive full back pay and get back his seniority. He made more than $137,000 in 2018.

Coward of the county…BACK ON PATROL!!!

MI Ranger

And people say that Unions get a bad name!?

The Other Whitey

I suppose I can see it from a purely legal perspective, but this guy still utterly disgusts me. May his cowardice follow him everywhere he goes, and may he suffer Shakespeare’s “many deaths” of a coward for the rest of his days.

Trapperfrank

So a cowardly POS that left kids unprotected to be hunted down, get rehired and back pay.

MI Ranger

So this is really about “terminated him long after state law allowed it.” The arbitrator decided this, not a judge. The Sheriff (Isreal) was fired, and the new Sheriff chose to fire rather than reduce his rank. I see this one going to court, as the timing is based off of the event, not the new Sheriff taking office.

“Shunning” sounds like an appropriate punishment — that is, if there are any “citizens” (as opposed to “serfs”) in Coward – errrr – Broward County.

“Sorry, we have no seating in our restaurant for you tonight – or any other night”

You get the idea.

All who encounter him should show him their back when he tries to speak to them.

How about, everyone send those four each a white chicken feather.

(Toothy grin)

Add, maybe, a yellow stripe with a marker.

ArmyATC

I would love to see someone paint a huge yellow stripe down the middle of his patrol car.

Once again proving that what is correct under the law has nothing to do with what is just or honorable.

Fuck this guy and chicken shit cowardice…

He can look in the mirror every day and know he’s a fucking cowardly piece of shit…

I once heard a quote that said, “While I’ve never wished any man dead I’ve read a few obituaries with a smile on my face”

I understand the meaning of that quote far better each and every day when I see guys like these….self serving coward fuck…he has no business in any uniform unless it involves a paper hat and some fast food…

Classic example of why some LEOs and union locals have a bad rep. They got it the old fashioned way. They earned it! POS Coward! Crossing guard my ass, this sisy punk couldn’t guard a House of Ill Repute, much less do anything worthwhile inside of it. Maybe he could hire on as little hogg’s booty guard, they can cuck one another.

I’d venture to say that 99.69% of the TAH Family would have been marching to the sound of the guns, screaming into their radio for back up, as they checked their LBE for spare magazines.

Baby Girl is a roving school educator in Hillsborough County. Naturally, the story of this shooting has been all over them. She finally took the Papa’s advice, got her CCW, took a very advanced course, hits the range, and does her own protecting as she serves.

So how will he respond during the next crisis? Contrast to the cops in the North Hollywood Shootout.

Ex-PH2

Aside from wetting his pants and hiding, you mean?

rgr1480

Responding officers had to “borrow” AR-15s [ostensibly from a gunshop] until the SWAT team arrive with the appropriate firepower. Any word if the owner was reimbursed or commended? I’d really like to hear that part of the story.

ArmyATC

We definitely need a thumbs up button.

As memory recalls there were multiple deputies hiding behind vehicles and refusing to enter. A female CPT with the SO gave an order not to enter. She was allowed to resign by the sheriff. Several other deputies were fired over a period of months.

The deputy who was initially on scene was the school resource officer (Peterson). He was the first one to cower behind his vehicle. The POS attempted to immediately retire (not sure how that shook out) and was then charged with several criminal counts. I believe he is still awaiting trial and facing 80+ years in prison if found guilty on all charges.

Had a conversation with several LEOs from Broward county/adjoining agencies about a year or so ago. To say Sheriff Israel was viewed as incompetent is an understatement. The SO did not have a good rep with other agencies or even its own deputies. When officers from an agency bad mouth it to others, well, that kind of says it all.

The local PD did an amazing job though. As soon as they showed up on scene they entered despite the female CPT telling them otherwise. There was even an off duty officer who showed up/entered up in t-shirts and flip flops.

rgr769

No, he didn’t cower behind his car. He cowered behind a concrete exterior wing wall of the building where all the shooting was occurring. I watched it on a video at the time.

rgr769

I should clarify it was Peterson, whose full time job was to protect the school and its students and staff, who was behind the wall after the first shots were fired. His fellow Coward Brounty Sheriffs officers were the ones hiding behind their cars.

Penguinman000

As I was. Too many folks cowering to keep it all straight.

Cowardly POS, I hope he gets shunned every day of the rest of his life.

E4 Mafia '83-'87

He’s one of those “I’m just her for the OT type of cops” I’d bet. He stealthfully hides away in his crusier for 7.5 hours, then emerges to make a meager bust then drag that whole process out on OT. He’s the kind of cop that works extra duty jobs then sleeps when he’s supposed to be on patrol is probable as well. If he made $137K last year, about half of the that is OT/Etra duty. He wasn’t going to risk that kind of payday on some high school kids…are you guys nuts? He probaly has a boat & huge pick-up to pay for…can’t afford to be laid-up when those bills come due.

And maybe an Ex-Wife or two plus some Child Support payments as well…
