Wabash Trail homeowner opens fire on intruder in kitchen, two later arrested in burglary

Karl Etters
Two suspects who traded gunshots with a Wabash Trail homeowner Wednesday used the victim’s stolen keys to enter the house.

Amarion Meeks, 16, and Tyree Tillman, 20, used the keys, which were stolen along with the victim’s car days earlier, to enter the home at about 3:40 a.m., according to the Tallahassee Police Department.

Both men were charged with attempted murder and burglary with assault Friday morning. The Tallahassee Democrat identifies juveniles when they are charged with serious crimes.

Court records indicate that two other men, who have not been charged, also were involved in the home invasion.

TPD Spokesman Damon Miller could not comment on whether more arrests were expected, despite a second person being hospitalized with gunshot wounds likely from the home invasion.

The homeowner saw the armed suspects in the kitchen, retrieved a rifle and fired 25 shots at Meeks and Tillman. They returned fire and fled in a stolen car. They left behind clothing, jewelry and a stolen gun.

A blood trail was noted leaving the house.

About an hour later, TPD responded to a report of someone suffering gunshot wounds on south Adams Street, who turned out to be Meeks. Police said when they questioned him at the hospital he lied, saying he was shot by an unknown assailants as he walked down the street.

Man shoots burglary suspect: First tried to fend him off with a stick

by Q13 News Staff and Ali Bradley
THURSTON CO., Wash — A man in Thurston County is forced to defend himself when an homeless intruder broke into his home Friday.

Police say the suspect trespassed onto the property and refused to leave after being told by the homeowner. That’s when things took a turn for the worse.

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office said when the intruder didn’t leave, he started to come through the back door and attack the homeowner.

Detectives say the homeowner did his best to fend off the burglary suspect in his kitchen, using a piece of wood. When that wasn’t enough, he fired the single shot, hitting the intruder in the chest.

Boise woman fires shot at man trying to break into her home

By Katy Moeller
A Boise woman shot at a burglar she found on her porch, apparently trying to break into the front door of her home Thursday night.

In a press release Friday, Boise police said the woman heard a noise and then noticed that her front door was ajar. So she grabbed her gun before going to investigate.

She confronted the man on her front porch and fired the gun one time, police said. He fled the scene.

Police found evidence that the burglar was using a pry bar to try to get the door open. They searched for the suspect with a dog and drone but did not find him.

The first article could use some clarity, Delta Whiskies and Whisketts, but this is what I have to work with. Anyway, looks like we have zero morts despite what seems to be a mag dump in a kitchen, four inconvenienced and awaiting trial, with three in the wind. This totals out 0 / 4 / 3, a rare double Trifecta.

Besides the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation, the existence of subordinate governments, to which the people are attached, and by which the militia officers are appointed, forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than any which a simple government of any form can admit of. Notwithstanding the military establishments in the several kingdoms of Europe, which are carried as far as the public resources will bear, the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms. — James Madison, The Federalist Papers, No. 46

“home invasion”

They have a very low success rate as evidenced here, daily.

That’s a mannequin. But I would keep one eye on that blade anyway.

Tallywhagger

Looks like a zombie who got caught in daylight. Yep, probably a mannequin. Al-Gore could probably get lucky with a mannequin.

Claw

“That’s a mannequin” Yeah, but you gotta love that braided Paracord bracelet it’s wearing on the wrist just above the blade.

As I’ve posted before, FSN 4020-246-0688 will get you a 400 yard spool of OD Green 550 Cord.

That is almost enough to re-rig a whole MC1-1. I’ll bet you can even give us an FSN for that aged piece of critical gear.

I know this entry will be overcome by events, but here’s the FSN for the MC1-1B:

The NSN for the subsequent model MC1-1E is:

Amarion & Tyree….sigh…Claw?

A double trifecta FIRST thing this morning! Life is good. As promised yesterday, we’re meeting at the Clubhouse for the Sunday Morning Bloody Mary Surprise Brunch. Make mine a double. Put it on my tab. The King of Battle, Winner of Wars, and The Bringer of Dignity to the otherwise Vulgar Brawl is feeling extremely generous towards his loyal minions.

Mannequin? Nothing manly about that firie ginger. I’ll be her man kin. She could become the next in a long line of Mrs. 5/77. Who cares if she can cook.

Knife? There was a knife? and a scary black rifle?

Amarion Meeks (WOT) 20×2=40
Tyree Tillman – 16
Jaylin Baldwin – 29 (Name gleaned from the linked article as a Felon in Possession of a Firearm)

CLAW scores again!

Glad to see you, Sir.

I want to see her manually load a magazine with those nails…

Note: upon loss of a key to a home, -immediately- have a locksmith change the lock. Crooks -will- use them, and there have been cases where soem hoodlum is smart enough to duplicate a key, then allow the original to be found.

Change the locks on loss of a key. Always and immediately.

And, use a no-key deadbolt when sleeping.

26Limabeans

Mount the deadbolt lock upside down from the entry lock. Even someone with a key will be flummoxed. I did it by accident and it took me a long time to figure it out.
So I left it that way.

That KSG is probably the number one rental at our range…customers LOVE that thing. I read that at serious schools they don’t hold up well to hard usage, but as most folks run them they do fine. You do pay for that capacity though.

rgr769

I hear they have improved their functioning in the past five years. I attended a tactical shotgun course five years ago and one of the students in our class had one. He frequently had cycling and ejection problems.

No one mentioned the holstered semi auto on her right hip.

Those flowers look pretty against her fake red hair.

rgr769

That is a for reelz redhead, as she has ginger eyebrows. I’ll bet the curtains and carpet match the drapes. 26L, you may need to visit the optician and see if you need you prescription updated.

11B-Mailclerk

Color enhanced. Her roots are showing. Note the shade of the eyebrows does not quite match the hair.

She is “on the spectrum”, but the hair has had “enhancements”.

rgr769

Yes, but most women that good looking do rinses and whatnot to improve the tint, etc. of their hair. You must have x-ray or infra-red vision if you are seeing dark roots. But maybe you are an expert on redheads.

Ex-PH2 dyed her hair?
