Venezuela – Here We Go Again
Maduro really is one stubborn asshole. Bolstered by his squabbling phone discussions with Lavrov (Russia), however contentious the article says they may have been, Maduro has decided to stay in Venezuela instead of bolting for the door like a sensible person.
From the article: [On Tuesday, Pompeo said Maduro had been prepared to flee Venezuela but that Russia had convinced him not to leave. A day later, he and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a contentious telephone conversation in which each accused the other of destabilizing Venezuela and demanded an end to the other’s interference in the country.
As the dispute intensifies, Pompeo plans to meet with Lavrov to resume their as-yet unproductive discussions on Venezuela. They will be in Rovaniemi, Finland, for a meeting of foreign ministers from the eight members of the Arctic Council.]
The article reminds us that this also has to do with Russia’s backing separatists in Ukraine, annexing Crimea in 2014, and bolstering Assad in Syria.
The real question is this: is the US going to do the diplomatic thing, and invoke the Monroe Doctrine (which Russia ignores), or is this going somewhere else?
Despite Vlad Putin’s bully pulpit tactics, he doesn’t have the military might that China has. That’s blatantly obvious even to a mere bystander like me, on the outside looking in, and I don’t think he really wants a shooting war. He wants money. There is money in oil, which is the only logical reason he’s sent people to Venezuela and is backing Maduro. The illogical reason he has his people there is that is pisses off the USA and he knows it.

Sean Penn and Michael Moore could not be reached for comment.
Neither could Oliver Stone.
This will only be over when they stand Maduro up against a wall.
It’s the only option… anything else will just continue the pain and suffering of those that can’t get out.
Bernie Sanders was also unavailable for comment.
Ojos-Locos was out to lunch…
Par for the course for her.
Kevin Spacey is unavailable for comment.
Well at least we’ll get to see Maduro strung up like Mussolini instead of him living out his days in luxurious exile in Russia or Cuba.
My thoughts exactly.
String him up and let the crows eat him.
Hey, he didn’t stuff a carry-on bag with gold bars and beat to Havana on the last Cubana flight out, so ending up like Mussolini or Khadafi is a distinct possibility. His dumb choice.
OK, just spitballing here…… take a look a this image.

Trump could have a “training” exercise flying a group of B-52s from Barksdale and back.
What do you guys think? Oh and KC-135s and fighter escorts, of course. And maybe have some Naval assets too.
Just spitballing.
Well ChipNASA, there’s many reasons for the NOTAM getting American airplanes out of there.
I hope your idea is the right one.
Sure – give the Opposition a chance to see how good their SAMs are, and maybe start WW III…
Excellent find, thanks!
The geography on this one favors the United States doing whatever it deems necessary to restore order should we choose to go that route in this case.
China’s not going to press this with any success and Russia’s become nothing more than a joke worldwide. Their GDP drops much lower and 25 states will singly outpace their entire nation.
The BIGGEST problem for both Russia and China: How to get a credible amount of manpower across half a world without anyone noticing or having time to react.
It’s simple for us.
How terrible must your life be that you would risk your families well being by taking them into Columbia.
The current regimes in Brazil and Colombia are friendly to the US, and hostile to Maduro. They both share borders with Venezuela, and both have strong and experienced militaries. My prediction is that they will “intervene” (with our blessings) to stop the influx of refugees from their dysfunctional neighbor. The Russians would not have the wherewithal to stop columns of armored vehicles simultaneously crossing the borders from both sides.
The people of Venezuela overwhelmingly voted for this outcome. They wanted “muh free” everything and now they found out what the price of “muh free” is.
Tough Sh*t for them.
The best part of this whole situation is that Guaido is no different than Maduro. The whole contest is over whose turn it is to be the jackwagon in charge.
Venezuela is not worth one drop American, Colombian, Brazilian, or even (dare I say) Venezuelan blood.
But then, socialist shit holes never are.
What about Russian blood? Venezuela is more worthwhile to us than Syria or Crimea ever were.
In the eloquent words of the President; “they have to go”.
But if Russia thinks Venezuela is worth the price, by all means, let them pay it.
Venezuela voted for this shit. It is a sewer that will ingest any who enter.
Don’t forget that China has a significant investment there, and has an INSATIABLE thirst for oil. Just like Japan did prior to WW II.
Thanks for the quick update.
