BLUF- Laughing boy here would access vials of liquid opiates meant for patients for his own use, and replace it with saline. MrsAW1 is on pain management; the thought of someone stealing the meds that allow her to get through the day infuriates me. Hope he finds some real pain in the Federal system.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — A former nurse at the Providence VA Medical Center has been sentenced for tampering with hospital predcriptions.

Rhode Island U.S. Attorney Aaron Weisman said Friday 35-year-old Jared Scott, of West Warwick, Rhode Island, was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison.

Scott acknowledged that he removed liquid opioids from vials at the hospital for his personal use and filled the vials with saline.

He pleded guilty in December to tampering with a consumer product and acquiring a controlled substance by deception and subterfuge.

According to research, Jared Scott had been employed by that VA Hospital since 2010.

Even though he confessed to stealing the vials in 2017 who knows…he might have started earlier.

What is sad and at the same time alarming is that there may be others doing the same thing…they just have not been caught (yet).

I’m assuming this Murse (Male nurse) is a military veteran whose service led him to addiction and theft (sarcasm). The collective bargaining agreements with federal public employee unions should be rewritten to mandate frequent, random, and unannounced drug testing for workers in health care settings, vehicle operations, etc.

I was piss tested so many times in the military I lost count but I do remember providing a sample at my OIF mobilization site. If deploying service members are tested, why not let civilians who want to work for our rich uncle share in the fun. I’m not picking on civil service employees as I’m a retired federal worker. But at a minimum, civilian employees should be tested regularly during their first 2-3 years of conditional government employment. If you truly want to serve America, then be clean while you do it.

That is all. I’m out. Got to get over to my ROMEO (Retired Old Men Eating Out) chapter’s weekly early bird special dinner. Enjoy the weekend.

I’ve been in civil service for five years so far…only two drugs tests since 2014 and both were entry tests.

Truck drivers are subject to random piss tests. I’ve had several in the last couple of years and I don’t handle narcotics on a daily basis.

I’ve been in civil service for almost 3 years and they send my for a whiz quiz about 5 times a year

What a piece of sh^t. What a MAJOR piece of sh^t! Just imagine some poor suffering patient being given a saline solution for high pain levels, it’s not doing any good, the nurse is thinking they are faking their pain levels and does not increase the dosage. They suffer thru that time cycle and the next cycle they get another placebo. See where I’m going with that.

We phone factory worker bees get randomly tested all the time. The FIRST Level Manager has the authority to escort any employee, at any time, to the testing facility for an immediate screening. Violators are subject to disciplinary actions up to and including immediate termination.

ESAD mofo. Mr. Tiny will introduce you to a new type of pain.

I can’t tell you how many nurses, pharmacists, pharm techs and even Dr’s that have wrecked their lives, their career and everything that they used to live for wrecked.
I’ve had D.O.N.’s, supervisors and all kinds of people stealing drugs.
It’s pervasive, that much is certain.

Sad, know so many people that need them but choose to suck it up including my better half.

In the rush to fight opioids, it’s become more difficult for those with a genuine need for the drugs, to get them. Opioids are the best option for some pain, and the idea that this guy was refilling those vials with saline is reprehensible.People suffered because of him.
Morphine, Percocet, and Oxycodone made my life livable during times of great pain. The pendulum can swing too far if we’re not careful.

Thunderstixx

The morons, usually pharmacists and fake newsies, continue to push all opioids as horrific and super dangerous to civilization.
A guy here in Texas was said to have over 100 dangerous, highly addictive Tramadol pills when he was arrested.
Shit, I get almost double that every month
He was already mentioned on here, but when I read that stuff I just wonder how in the actual fuck these people continue to breathe without some computer reminding them….

He’ll have a better understanding of pain with his bunkmates.

As I’ve mentioned here once before, I’m a retired Chem Dep/Psych RN x 30 years. In 1982 at Chinese Hospital in San Francisco we had a male RN SOB sucking morphine out of glass ampules (rubber cap allowed this) and injecting patients (all Chinese) with Saline or who knows what. He got away with this for over a year due to this culture being particularly stoic with their pain tolerance. They almost never asked for pain meds. My blood boils every time I think about this guy. I know of other nurses who have stolen drugs but none where the patients had to pay the price. BTW … urine screen tests for health care workers is better than nothing but it doesn’t tell you WHERE they are getting these drugs.

Rhode Island, the bejeweled buttplug of New England.
There’s a special place in hell for this prick, especially given the street prices for heroin and fentanyl. Too cheap or lazy to get a $5 bag?

I feel like this sack of shit does all of us honest nurses a disservice. Its going to get to the point where liquid narca will have to be witnessed used by two nurses to prevent diversion, which is an automatic surrender of licensure. And at least rhode island has mandatory drug treatment in its prisons, so hopefully he will not come out even worse when he gets out of prison.

For 10 years I put up with lower back pain due to ruptured discs. Then, 4 years ago, my regular doctor told me it was time I see a surgeon. OK, I’m a wimp when it comes to hospitals and getting operated on, but I couldn’t deal with losing muscle in my right leg and walking like Grandpa McCoy. I got a bottle of percocet for pain, there was 60 in it. I checked a few years later and there are still 52 left. I guess I just don’t get that high that some folks get. I actually hated that feeling and the side effects of stopping up your ass. Tell y’all one thing, I listened to the surgeon and did everything he told me to do and I’m been fine since.
