Cespedes case reaffirms Castle Doctrine
By Ray Scherer
The decision from a recent Buchanan County jury trial is serving as a reaffirmation of a state self-defense law for homeowners, and comes amid growing interest in gun safety courses.Raydel Cespedes, who originally came to St. Joseph looking for work, was found not guilty earlier this month of second-degree murder. Cespedes shot and killed a man he said posed a threat to his family on the night of Aug. 10, 2017.
His attorney, Matt O’Connor of Kansas City, relied on arguments to the jury that Cespedes was simply protecting his family and property when he fired the fatal shot.
“I think the (Missouri) Castle Doctrine was reaffirmed,” O’Connor told News-Press NOW. “It was a huge factor.”

Idaho Falls police officer killed in Utah home invasion was facing felony charges
By: Nate Sunderland
IDAHO FALLS — It’s unclear what events led up to the death of Idaho Falls Police Officer Blaine Reed at the hands of a Utah homeowner Thursday night, but there is some indication Reed was having difficulty in his personal life.Reed, 35, was placed on administrative duty in October, and administrative leave a month later after he reported a domestic dispute between himself and an ex-girlfriend to his superiors. That physical fight eventually led to felony and misdemeanor abuse charges filed against him in Jefferson County.
Hours before his death Thursday, Reed’s troubles began in eastern Idaho. Bonneville County Sheriff Sgt. Bryan Lovell says Reed was involved in a “disturbance” in Ammon that morning. The nature of the disturbance has not been released, but it was reported to and investigated by authorities after the fact.
Out of a desire not to impact the Layton Police Department’s investigation, the sheriff’s office is not releasing information about the Ammon incident, Lovell said.
Later in the day, Reed left Idaho and traveled to Utah. In a Facebook post, Reed’s lawyer, Joe Filicetti, says Reed was having a dispute with one of his best friends over a woman.
Police reports show Reed entered a home in Layton uninvited and confronted the homeowner about a relationship involving an ex-girlfriend. Police say an argument ensued, and the homeowner shot Reed several times.

Never date your friends ex.
Nice finger control.
Got any photos of her cheek weld?
Finger control? Cheek weld?
Heck, I was too busy looking at the buttstock.
Need. More. Caffeine.
It’s 5:30 am here. Why am I up so early on a Sunday morning? (smile)
You young fella’s need to control your selves here, us old folks see important things first. We may be slow but we are old. Shucks only took me 10 minutes to realize there was a rifle in the picture, course 10 later found was a pistol there too. Now gonna have to check out the finger, old and slow but not dead.
There is gunz in that picture? How did I miss that? She made me feel good, and that’s no story. In my next lifetime, I want to be a pair of her blue jeans.
2/0/1 is still very decent for a Sleepy Sunday Sidewalk. ‘Course we all know that # 3 will show back up, eventually if not sooner.
Outcast, to avoid the uphill in both directions, take the side door from the garage to the front door of the Manor House. This ain’t Brucies, there is no entrance in the rear. It’s exit only.
You sure about the front door, neighbors might complain to you about the riff raff you allow there, they do here all the time and I live here. At least this picture here is giving me some hope for the future. Flipped on the tube and was young couple, moving to Alaska, looking at homes there, wasn’t bad looking at all, granted had somewhat whiny voice but southern drawl took a little edge off it, there is always duct tape, so she commences to voice likes and dislikes of bedroom after looking over the house and I swear I heard her say she did not like the door knob, 2 to 3 hundred thousand for a house and she don’t like the door knob in the bedroom. News flash from Alaska, your new dumbocrat congress person has been found. Oh one question, since there is no photo as to the one in the wind does that mean we can pop a cap at anyone that fits the description, been a lot in the past with that dress code that suddenly find themselves with a new air hole in their body. Keep your powder there dry as they might try to visit you and all that change you are accumulating. Will try to get shopping cart after window opens.
Need a little eye relief, beans?
Open sights. Folding Buckhorn.
Since it’s Sunday…ahmma jus say, that child is blessed.
Amen to that, IDC SARC!
There is hope for younger generations. Sure hope that she does not squander her potential in some sorry-ass festering incubator of pitifulness aka college.
If she is on the west coast, those anti gun freaks that run the colleges there wouldn’t let her enroll in one there anyway. Schools here have room for her, well except boulder or branch of that arm pit of cali ran school.
[…] This ain’t Hell… has your Sunday feel good stories. […]
Got that girl’s number? She’s hot….
Easy stud. She’s also armed.
*grin*
two of them, with rings.
Oh yes! I love me some gun porn on a Sunday morning!I totally agree with ID Sarc!
That girl sure has some nice bullpup(s)!
I didn’t even realize there was a pistol in the picture until outcast pointed it out
See, given time us old goats can manage to see other things, I repeat old and slow but not dead.
