Dwayne Rodgers – Claims SgtMaj, BSM (2x), PH (3x), CAR
The folks at Military Phony send us their work on Roosevelt Dwayne Rodgers, who claims he was recently released from the U.S. Marine Corps in November 2018 after a career spanning 34 years.
In a four-page resume, one posted to one of several of his LinkedIn accounts, he claims that he was in the Marine Corps for 34 years, was awarded a Bronze Star Medal, two (2) Purple Hearts and a Combat Action Ribbon.
We suspect this was an earlier resume because on another he labels a “DD-216” but internally calls it a “DD-215” Rodgers claims he was awarded two (2) Bronze Stars, three (3) Purple Hearts and a Combat Action Ribbon (CAR) – so he picked up another Bronze Star Medal and another Purple Heart somewhere along the way. Or, they slipped his memory on the first resume.
For those of you unfamiliar with a DD-215, it is a document to add additional entries on an individual’s DD-214. For those of you unfamiliar with a DD-216, which we were not, it was either a typo on the SgtMaj’s part or we have speculated that it is also used for additional entries that cannot fit on a DD-214/DD-215. When a Marine has a career spanning 34 years, there is a lot to try to jam into those pesky one-page forms.
He also has Intel, Parachutist and Combat Diver, because… well, why not?
Rodgers career as listed on his resume, if accurate, reads like one of those books that the recruiter pulls out to offer all the MOS’s that one can be should they be interested in the Marine Corps. A Sergeant Major of Marines with this kind of resume had to be legendary.
We ordered his records from both NRPC and DoN/HQ-USMC but were expecting to pay huge duplication fees for what we expected to be the size of a phone book, but instead, we received the following…
He was a Travel Clerk (3431) and served from 1982 – 1984. It shows that he got out as a Lance Corporal (E-3) vs. a Sergeant Major (E-9). It seriously had us thinking that there was an entire second career on and off of active duty, just as he claimed.
But if this were the case, NPRC would not be the curator of his military records. There was no result in DoD Manpower for him being on active duty in 2018.
If there is the slightest chance that we are missing something we will be the first to apologize to SgtMaj Rodgers and buy him a cup of coffee… or froth-topped caramel macchiato if that’s how he rolls, but we think not.
The Purple Heart and Combat Action Ribbon claims are in direct violation of the Stolen Valor Act and Dwayne Rodgers needs to remove that from his resume. If it was leveraged to get employment or other advantages, he may have already been in violation of the Stolen Valor Act.

Scumbag.
JFC….What a fucking dumbass. No concept of time, trying to lie about working IMA, OMA, plus special ops + schools/training + everything else?
Such an ass-clown.
Gyrene equivalent of Master Sergeant Soup Sandwich; hope he’s smart enough not to show up at the Marine Corps Ball wearing everything he’s claiming…
oh I hope he does and that they film the results. 🙂
A defacto Para-Dive insert is warranted.
Another Lance Coconut spinning yarns. Do I look surprised?
Proves crayons are toxic.
*Sorry about reporting your comment. Dyslectic clicky finger.*
He could get that suit tailored to fit him properly and get it pressed, and get his hands out of his lap.
It seems to me that, deep down inside, this guy wanted to be a H’wood actor but never made it there. He wanted to be SGT Apone in “Aliens”, but just didn’t have the chops. Missed his calling completely.
Its my understanding that Al Matthews ( Sgt Apone) actually had military cred…several years in the USMC, time in Vietnam, medals, including the purple heart.
RIP Al Matthews/ Sgt Apone
Yes, he did. He had 13 years in the USMC, and after Vietman, he went to England and made a living as recording artist. He had other roles besides SGT Apone, but that was a memorable character he left behind.
From Wiki:
Matthews was a member of the United States Marine Corps, and served during the Vietnam War.[citation needed] On his website, he stated:
” I spent six years in the United States Marine Corps; I hold thirteen combat awards and decorations, including two purple hearts. I was the first black Marine in the 1st Marine Division in Vietnam to be meritoriously promoted to the rank of sergeant; I served with Kilo Battery, Fourth Battalion, 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division, of that I am very proud.”
He certainly does have a vivid imagination. He’d need a time machine to serve in the Viet of the Nam at a present age of 55. I spent some time running around the 1st Marine Div base when they were standing down and re-deploying to Okinawa. I never saw any 10 or 11 year-olds running around Camp Reasoner in Cammies.
That’s Al Matthews’ bio, NOT Rodgers’.
Well he will make a Good Democrat Senator or Social Justice Activist Like Ole Chief Crazy Horses Ass Who Smoke um to much peace pipe drank um to much fire water and spoke with forked tounge.
I’m sorry, SARC, should have checked my backup.
Tailoring…if ya mean sew him up inside a parachute and drop it into open ocean, I think that’s a great fashion based solution to his current attire deficiencies.
What is he sitting in front of? It looks like an entertainment center with slots for CDs or DVDs but none are present…like his awards file!
Maybe he told all his friends that he got called back to active duty when he went missing for a few years (due to time spent in a government institution)? Anyone look for arrest records?

That suit screams insecure douchebag.
$10 says this winner has a record, my guess is impersonation of a LEO.
Just a guess.
Homes be stylin…bet he’s sporting some classy reptilian or avian skin shoes too…seen a lot of his type during my stint in contracting…over the top dressers but under the bottom performers
OK, ahmma ask because I honestly don’t know. WTF is the story on USMC University? I went to the website and I see nothing in their academics that offers any Bachelor’s in Business or an MBA.
Am I missing something? He may be just that stupid, but I would imagine that if he was applying for a job, they’d want to see the sheepskin, though they may not give a hoot about a DD214.
You might be surprised.
Worked with a guy once who supported me on a project. He was newly hired, right out of college, and wasn’t bad at what he did.
He worked for a different employer than I did (the two employers had a contractual relationship). After he’d been there some months, one day I got the word he was being let go.
Turns out the guy was one course short of meeting his degree requirements, and hadn’t actually gotten the degree he’d claimed. He simply claimed it anyway, and got away with that lie for months. I think he only got caught because his HR department was unusually dilligent.
I’m guessing this guy thought he could do the same.
Yeah, but if that guy claimed he went to college for Major X at least a cursory look would show the program existed.
These SV guys often always choosing schools claiming majors that don’t exist there.
I wasn’t really surprised by that or the lack of responsible people checking the veracity of the claim. I was interested in hearing about USMC U from someone that might have been familiar with it.
Gotcha. Wasn’t tracking before.
LOL, I have been trying to figure out how to explain the Marine Corps University.
The Corps has many levels of higher education. We could start with NCO School, Staff Academy, Command and Staff College and then what is now called the School of Advanced Warfighting.
I had the pleasure of meeting with General Al Gray this past October. He is usually the one that people give credit to for the programs. Most of it did exist long before that but he really put it all together.
There are Marine Corps Institue courses that most all Marines do. They are what people today would call “Distance Learning” courses.
MCI courses can be on topics that are ranging from how to cook through Counter-Insurgency.
It all sounds nice and impressive to folks but you have to understand I completed most of my MCI courses while I was sitting on the shitter with a number two pencil.
The Commandant also has a recommended reading list. I think the current reading list is located here:
https://www.marines.mil/News/Messages/Messages-Display/Article/1184470/revision-of-the-commandants-professional-reading-list/
Some Marines take things to an extreme. I know most of you find that surprising, but here is an example.
https://www.marinecorpstimes.com/news/your-marine-corps/2015/10/28/retired-gunny-honored-for-completing-439-mci-courses/
Hmmmm….
“How to Cook Through Counter-Insurgency”
Now there is a cookbook that could spell disaster for the Bad Guys and the Very Bad Guys.
Where do I get a copy?
“The Corps has many levels of higher education.”
So is MC-U mostly just CON-ed for Officers?
Thass what my unsophisticated enlisted guy brain sees when I look at the website.
I have a lot going on right now, so admittedly, I only had time for a sort of drive-by look at the site.
How does one explain to a prospective employer the lack of a job history that spans 25+ years? (i.e., subtracting initial hitch of 2.5 years and his 5+ years of claimed recall to active duty) Or was he moonlighting as “a very successful Global and Enterprise Certified Sales Executive” while in the USMC?
Tap shoes…gotta be a damn fine dancer.
AMWAY, BABY!
Twenty two years sounds about right for a second degree murder conviction.
These turds that claim to be parachutists should be made to make a static line parachute jump in full combat kit to include face paint at 22:00 hours on Sicily DZ.
Not Sicily, Luzon DZ at Camp MacKall. Has way more trees to get stuck in if you don’t slip the right way.
And make that TOT about 0330. 😀
I’d rather he sees it coming in the light of day. Matter of fact, tape his eyelids open.
No, a HALO jump and don’t tell them where the ripcord is. He’ll have the rest of his life to figure it out.
HALO would turn into a HANO.
Interesting that the page 11 (assignments) page included doesn’t have his name at the top of it. It says Genelle Young, maybe a mistake?
That’s the admin/clerk reviewer – at least the one initially starting the page. It is quite common, but yes, it throws one for a second.
Rock Warnick Captain…
Hmm, interesting that someone would sign a document with “Brush Script MT” underneath a printed name and rank.
It doesn’t get more signed because someone changes font. Or does it??
It’s also interesting that that document has the notation “DD215” in the lower right-hand corner. I guess that’s supposed to make one think it’s a DD Form 215.
I have DD215s adding stuff to some of my DD214s. But those forms aren’t on any type of letterhead.
Since the DD Form 215 is a DD Form, all four branches use the same thing. So I’d love to hear his explanation of why his looks so different.
To add:
Rock Warnick is an Adjutant in the USMC, but he’s not a Captain and doesn’t work in the Pentagon.
While Room 2C253 is the Human Resources Department for civilian employees who are assigned to the USMC and work in the Pentagon, they certainly don’t retain records for current or former USMC uniformed members.
Was about to add the same pair of pennies MSgt. He’s currently with 2d MAW in Cherry Point. I’d be interested in shooting the good Louie and email and asking if he knows the “SgtMaj”…..
And that he’s using Rock’s good name. 😉
Also, a DD-215 is a form. Not just some logos on a piece of white paper. The military would never have something that snazzy. They would, and ofcourse does have, a form.
Tracked this sonovabitch to COMCAST in their Philadelphia, PA regional office and being the helpful person I am, shared this post with key executives and their media people who always love good publicity for their company. If this is one of those rare occasions when there is a reply, I’ll wager they either say “Who?” or he is long gone which has been the case in several of these cases.
[Montgomery Burns voiceover]
EXCELLENT
Cocksucker
That is one heller of a edjumication from the USMC Universary.
Exactly… especially since Marine Corps University (MCU) doesn’t offer undergraduate degrees.
https://www.usmcu.edu/
Clearly this guy is a dumbass.
I nose dat, dats why eye says it!
but do they offer an MBA…cuz I didn’t see that either.
As I re-read this in re of Roosevelt Dwayne Rodgers (got the Military Phonies post in last night), Google hit for you bitch, I see a lying embellishing POS that doesn’t even deserve the title of Former Marine. 2 years???, travel clerk????, dahell??? During the time frame you were in, you could of had a 34 year honorable career with a chance to travel. I think you were basically a dip shit that the USMC got rid of the first chance they had. ESAD mf’er. And yeah, Comcast, like other consumer oriented utility companies, don’t usually keep liars on the payroll. Especially if their lies got them the job in the FIRST place. Good luck finding a new job!
Was it me or did anyone else notice that true Marine Hero SGT Al Mathews, a real Veteran that was in country Viet of the Nam, served in the Artillery. “Kilo Battery……of that I am very proud.” (HT to IDC SARC)…. Just saying….
Artillery…The King of Battle…Bringing Dignity to what would otherwise be considered an ugly brawl.
godawgs/rtr….goarmybeatnavy
I was a Corpsman with 1/10 before I was a Recon Doc, so Cannon Cockers are also special to me. 🙂
You did notice the UA/AWOL and DFR lines in his record of assignments, right? (smile)
Roosevelt Dwayne Rodgers should have had the “DD-215” signed by Rock Hudson… it would be more honorable than his cocksucking lies.
The irony of having Rock Hudson sign his “DD-215” is that way over half the folks that read it would not catch it to even question it.
Sergeant Major (DD-215/216), or Master Gunnery Sergeant (LinkedIn account)? It’s all just so darned confusing.
Looks like our hero here found a copy of the USMC MOS Manual and went surfing through there picking out anything that sounded “cool”.
I noted that he’s also claiming the MOS of “7577 Aviation Weapons and Tactics Instructor”. Now that’s impressive. That’s because 7577 is an additional MOS that is only assigned to Marine Corps Aviators and Naval Flight Officers after successfully completing the Weapons and Tactics Instructor course at MAWTS-1 for their respective type/model/series aircraft. I wonder what aircraft our hero thinks that he flew in as a pilot or NFO?
Oh well, at least I can’t see any phony claims of Scout Sniper and/or Force Recon, so we’ve got that going for us.
Which is nice.
As he was constructing his resume, he probably came upon Scout Sniper and/or Force Recon, sat back in his chair, thought about it for a second, shook his head and said to himself “Nah, that’s a bit too much on top of the other 200+ skills and quals I’m claiming.”
He probably figured he was going to fly under the radar.
See what I mean about the number Three?
Gotta have three phony Purple Hearts.
DeWayne earns a Kerry Factor of KF3
Hey, I’ve got two, count them, 1, 2 National Defense Service Medals. That’s an NDSM with a bronze star. (sarc) Where do I apply to get my free Carmel Macchiato?
Gotta send in your $39.95 application and processing fee first.
Damn….
Damn, damn…. (doc from back to the future)
Chickenfucker
For those that missed it, this POS also has almost a month of UA.
Look carefully!
Actually, he has over a month of UA: 830201 to 830302, or precisely 30 days. The line following that is DFR for desertion. He returned to military control, either via apprehension or voluntarily, 5 days after that.
Yes but he is a superior dickstepper compared to our Marine fake-combat Injun since he only has one UA compared to three. Though, 30 days and DFR is pretty impressive.
I remember a neighbor being taken away by two plainclothes guys in a car with Air Force plates. I think I was like 5 or 6 years old. One on either side grasping his arms.
My dad said he was a deserter and would be shot. Maybe not a smart thing to say to a child but it drove the point home and I thank him for that.
They should be shot. We all know how serious desertion is.
Now instead of letting the Taliban feed and clothe Bergdahl the US taxpayer is.
Seriously, though…who the fuck deserts from the AIR FORCE? Even back in the day, I’m sure the Air Force had better accommodations and chow than the other services. Maybe if you were stationed at Elmendorf or Eilson and it was wintertime, but still.
Good question.
It was the Boston area. There was Hanscom and Otis at the time.
Not exactly tough duty.
Korea was in remission.
Took my ODA to Ft Rich and booked rooms at Elmendorf AFB. We O’s stayed at the BEQ with the team. Nicer than any Army BOQ.
Just sayin’.
Have a phony and need help. It’s ruining our family and is going to destroy my nieces life. She is taking her husbands side and he is the epitome of stolen valor. Served 7 mos never completed his MOS school. He has caused a huge rift in our family and claims guys in a black suv picked him up because of his in-depth knowledge of North Korea. He disappears because “military stuff and is classified” and my niece doesn’t believe us he’s lying and either does her mother. My brother knows he’s full of it and has gotten to the point they quit talking to my brother because “he was trying to break us apart!” Someone please help your my only hope. I have screenshots of the claims.
Regards,
Ken

When I finally got to his real time in service and saw 2 years out as a lance coolie I lost my shit. Literally laughed out loud for a good minute.
What a fucking mouth breather.
Turd.
I wonder just how soon we’ll see him pop up playing The Race Card®™️? He looks like someone who would do that!
He’ll be reporting us to the VA-OIG by week’s end.
Like a Dutch Rudder Gang wannabe.
Now let’s just calm down a bit. After all, he has a document signed by Adjutant Rock Warnick of the Marine Corp. I remember this guy from the Space Shuttle Gunnery Course at Fort My Records Got Lost. He was replaced by the first openly gay Marine Corps Officer, Major Dick Fitzwell. I’ve got this shitbirds Linkedin account opened right now. According to his writeup, not only is he an E-10 (Space Shuttle Gunnery Sergeant Major), but he’s also a Master Gunnery Sergeant. I’ve seen this before, but only with Marines who have a split personality. 🙂
“Major Dick Fitzwell”.
Haven’t laughed myself to the floor in quite a while.
Thanks, Contractor; I needed that.
Fitzwell later went on to serve under Col Rip Colon. Unfortunately, he was later med boarded out of the Corps under unknown circumstances.
Major Mal Function testified that CPT Vi Agra was caught helping Major Dick Fitzwell to serve Col Rip Torn.
Rip Torn is a real person. Army vet too.
My bad Mason, typo, should have read “Rip D. Colon.
Trying to read those old carbon flimsies is rough.
Does anyone besides me think this guy knows what he just and hopes no one else smells it?
Just stole that shit.
If someone has the time (and patience), could they add up how long each school is for the claimed Military Occupational Specialties? While attending all of those MOS schools, where did he find the time to deploy? Inquiring minds want to know.
I’ll look into it and try to post results by tomorrow. It’ll take a bit since alot of his claimed MOS’ require follow on schools (i.e. aviation)
Oh, it’ll probably come up to 45 or so years, but since he’s a shit-hot type of guy, he never took leave, 3-4 day weekends, never needed to PRT, go to medical/dental, just class and right back to work 24/7/365. Those Purple Hearts? Back to work so fast John Kerry asked him for advice.
So, he just able to squeeeeeeze in those 45 years into 34 years.
He was a clerk, right? Somehow he got hold of this form, and maybe even Warick’s signature, and modified whatever this orig was into this hot-mess of shit. I guess that’s another fraud “charge” on top of Stolen Valor?
Travel claims. 2 years before getting the boot.
Either pissed hot or fraudulent travel claims. More likely the former as the latter would see him booted as an E-1 with a BCD/DD after substantial brig time.
The short story of all his MOS’s is he claims some Officer MOS’s – some of which are billet MOS’s and others primary. (There are other types, but I’ll leave that alone). Among his other lies, he claims to be an Aviation Precision Measurement Equipment Calibration Repairer (MOS 6492), but that requires a series of schools within the Aviation Calibration Technician Pipeline. That’s a long time. His claim of being an Aircraft Electronic Countermeasures System Technician on the EA-6B airframe means he attended the Initial Avionics Course, followed with the Avionics O Level Course, then the EMC Organizational Maintenance Course. That’s probably a 1 1/2 year school track alone. His claim to be an Ordnance Systems Engineer (officer MOS designator 8826) requires a graduate level degree in computer systems, electrical engineering or similar discipline along those lines. To be a Joint Terminal Attack Controller (MOS 8002), a pre-requisite is to hold MOS 0321 or 0861. He doesn’t claim either of those MOS’s. (In fact, he doesn’t claim any combat arms MOS’s that I could see). For those of you who have experience or background in jumping out of airplanes, you’ll enjoy this: He claims to be a Parachutist/Combatant Diver Marine (MOS 8026), which means he would first have to attend the Multimission Parachute Course, Airborne Course and the USMC Combat Diving Course. He doesn’t claim any kind of jump wings on his “DD215″, so that’s another problem for him. His claim to be a Marine Corps Security Force Guard (MOS 8152) means he would have to be any of the following MOS’s as a prerequisite” 0311, 0341, 0352, 0369 or 5811. The 03XX MOS’s are infantry related and the last one is Military Police. Again, he doesn’t claim any infantry related training. For him to claim Aircraft Communications / Navigation Systems Technician experience on any airframe (KC-130, F/A-18, CH-46 (phased out), or CH-53) – or any other aviation related MOS, means he would have attended over 20 technical schools. Some MOS schools are so complex and technical that they last 8-10+ months. Since he’s not a commissioned officer, he can’t… Read more »
Nice breakdown. Thanks for doing this.
It’s almost like the preponderance of circumstantial evidence, in this case, false claims seem to close the door on him.
However, he could have been writing this up for a civilian audience banking on the chance that noone with the proper military background would catch it. That’s like employing hope as a strategy.
Looking at his assignments it appears his UA/ Deserter stint went almost straight into Hospital stay.
There is a good chance he was fucked up and his command let him slide, although the time would still be noted as UA.
Also no such animal as “Command Sgt Major” in the USMC.
He claims he was discharged and then called back to active duty but his record just shows active duty to his ultimate discharge date.
If someone does retire or leaves the service and is then recalled to active duty, does the 214/215 show that as a break in service or does it just go straight through.
