Michael Chesna, Weymouth officer, killed
JacktheJarhead sends us a link to the sad news that Weymouth, Massachusetts police officer Michael Chesna was murdered by 20-year-old Emanuel Lopes.
Police say the suspect crashed a car, fled the scene, and was later discovered by Chesna allegedly vandalizing a home. Prosecutors say that’s when he attacked Chesna with a rock to the head. Chesna fell to the ground, and officials say, Lopes took the officer’s gun and shot Chesna multiple times in the head and chest.
Lopes then fled and fired more shots during a chase. Police say one of those shots fatally struck the woman in her home.
Lopes was shot in the leg during pursuit by other officers. Unfortunately, he’s expected to recover.
According to Weymouth Police Chief Richard Grimes, Chesna is a military veteran of the war in Afghanistan;
Grimes said he had spoken to Chesna’s mother and she said her son joined the military ‘‘to open the doors to get in this job.’’

Actually, I have had a CCW in Massachusetts for 35 years. It is not as hard as most people think. Not all of us are liberal, tree huggers. Try telling that to Officer Chesna or the poor woman who this animal killed.
I had a non-resident permit back in the 70’s. They kept upping the price. Started at $5 per monthly renewal and I gave up at $30 per monthly renewal.

Next time someone wants to whine about why a cop shot someone supposedly “unarmed”, I’ll show them this.
It will change nothing. It is sick to say, but there are people in this country who are glad when a police officer is killed. And guesses how many times Lopes has been caught and released? How many times has he been on probation? Hell, he’s probably on probation now or had pending charges when he committed these murders. Yeah, committed, not allegedly committed.
To add to your questions, 2/17, how many times was Lopes deported? Was he on release, with a promise to appear at immigration court, “sometime in the future”?
He had been arrested last October for selling Cocaine to a minor and resisting arrest. So more than likely either on probation or awaiting trial.
We have a large Porteguese and Cape Verdian population in our state. He is probably original from Fall River or New Bedford and was more than likely born here. His last address was Brockton, which, unfortunately, breeds scumbags like this.

Five gets you ten that the warrant that should have been requested for Lopes in Feb or March by pre-trial release is being hand-carried through today. CYA is always more important that doing the right thing when you should.

Actually his momma sort of apologized and blamed the system by saying the poor boy’s domino set only went up to the 4/2. And she had tried so hard to get him help but he refused to take his medication and the mental hospital refused to take him.
At least he refused the medication that they gave him. Lots of other drugs he had no problem with. Not an honor student either, this guy got expelled from school for stabbing himself with scissors in class.

The system favors the dirt bags, we have judges who tell career criminals jail isn’t working for them and let them go w/o bail to kill a cop (Off. Tarentino Auburn, MA) or refuse to send heroin dealers to jail for dealing because they were “just trying to support their family”. Tremendous sadness. A good man goes in harm’s way to protect us and killed by a PoS who probably has contributed squat to this country. Justice should be swift, but he’ll probably not be tried for years and will then get ‘hammered’ with a ten year sentence, and he’ll be out in six with ‘good’ behavior. I have mixed feelings about the death penalty, but not so much when a LEO is killed. Lay him down and I’ll start the IV. Done it thousands of times.
If Lopes is in a Weymouth or Norfolk County lockup, I’ll wager that he will be found hanged.
