Sunday morning feel good stories

| June 3, 2018

From Memphis, Tennessee;

New information about the two men shot and killed in East Memphis.

Police said the duo broke into a house on Myrna Street, and the homeowner shot them.

It happened Friday night.

“It’s a good neighborhood,” said Charles Harris, who was rattled by the blue lights he saw. “They kept me awake pretty much until midnight or a little longer than midnight.”

Next door to Harris is where police said a burglary turned into a shooting that left two people dead.

We spoke to the man who lives in that house.

He was too traumatized to do an interview, but told WREG he came home from the barber shop around 7 p.m. He saw his door pried open and heard his dog barking like crazy.

He says he then saw two men snooping through his house.

The men reportedly aimed a gun at him. He grabbed his weapon and opened fire.

Police said the attempted burglars were shot and died at the scene.

The homeowner was taken into custody but later released.

In Salisbury, North Carolina;

The man shot by a Salisbury police officer after he stabbed a business owner following an alleged bank robbery and chase Thursday has died.

Jerick Raheem Gray, 42, of High Point, died Thursday evening at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, according to the Salisbury Police Department. Gray was identified as the driver of a vehicle officers pursued after a robbery at First National Bank on Innes Street in Salisbury on Thursday.

Wes Anderson, the co-owner of Anderson R/C hobby shop in Thomasville, remained hospitalized Friday recovering from stab wounds.

Jerick Raheem Gray

I’m guessing the guy’s father was either Jerry, Rick or Raheem.

Claw

To end any confusion as to whom his father may have been:

Jerick Raheem Gray (DOT) 38×3= 114

Both stories, three Perps, two DRTs and one DOT.

Sounds like a real good day at the plate.

Hondo

Sure was, Claw: BA, 1.000; OBP, 1.000; SLG: 4.000; OPS, 5.000. Can’t do much better than that on 3 PAs.

I could be mistaken but it seems to me that non-police are killing many more bad guys than the police these days. It makes sense as there are many more non-police and people don’t normally burglarize a police station or mug a cop but still….

Tallywhagger

To be honest, I think that the second story is probably derived from Salisbury, North Carolina.

I wish that the police notes would be a wee bit more specific as to the caliber of firearms used in the stories.

OWB

Looks like you are correct. The story mentions I-85, which goes through Salisbury, NC. And it’s not very far from High Point, mentioned as the home of the bad guy.

Why do these publications take such care in avoiding any mention of what state they are in? How difficult would it be to include two little letters in their masthead?

STSC(SW/SS)

Three Perps, Three dead. Hat Trick complete.

Ex-PH2

Sister Mary Grace makes note of this confused sentence:

The man shot by a Salisbury police officer after he stabbed a business owner following an alleged bank robbery and chase Thursday has died.

Because Thursday is not known to die, unless there is nothing else to do, Sister Mary Grace takes out the yellow marker, highlights the confused sentence, and the No. 15 yellow editing pencil and gives the writer a thump on the noggin.

This is how to provide accurate information in a nonconfused way:

A man who was shot by a Salisbury police officer has died. He was shot after he stabbed a business owner, following an alleged bank robbery and chase on Thursday.

Did Sister Mary Grace ever put stars on well done work? If so, was there a choice of colors?

Ex-PH2

All sorts of colors, mostly metallic. No special colors, except for the magenta star which was rare.

That was when stars and stickers had glue on the back and you had to wet the glue with your tongue. That’s “unsanitary” now, isn’t it?

All the fun stuff is gone. No more cap pistols with the caps on a paper roll. No more bonfires, unless you have a permit and notify the Fire Department. No more stomping and splashing in puddles because you might hurt a rare flounder. And don’t jump off the garage roof because you might get a concussion.

Wilted Willy

I really agree with you on this one Ex, they have taken away all the fun things we used to do!!! All the kids do now is sit on their ass in their virtual world and they don’t even know what the sun looks like!!

I can see a lawsuit by the stabber’s family against the Salisbury PD for denying perp gray his constitutional right to support his family as a holdup man.

David

Damn good job in Memphis…bad guys already had gun(s) out yet the homeowner started from zero and took them both out. Bloody well done, sir!

Agree!

And the world is a more peaceful place…….now.
