Trump did not make it easier for the mentally ill to buy guns
Since the tragic shooting in Florida this last week, the meia has been engaged in a misinformation campaign charging that teh President made it easier for the mentally ill to buy guns, you know, after the God of Light Obama made it harder.
are you aware that one of the regulations you got rid of made it more difficult for mentally ill to get guns? https://t.co/r5lRKZHhnd

The rule that Obama’s Social Security Administration wrote didn’t take affect until December 19, 2017. Not only did the NRA oppose the rule, so did the ACLU on 4th Amendment concerns.
The rule required that a targeted individual defend himself in court under duress from the government in order to keep a constitutionally-protected right. If he didn’t, he’d automatically lose his right to own a gun.
And, oh, by the way, Congress did the same thing for the Department of Veterans Affairs;
The second measure — which passed 240-175 — would prohibit VA officials from submitting records of veterans with severe mental illnesses to the federal criminal background check system, thereby preventing them from purchasing firearms. Exceptions would be made for court orders mandating the conditions be reported.
Yeah, it wasn’t just “veterans with severe mental illnesses”, it was just whoever the VA bureaucrats decided should be on NICS, for even the fact that they needed someone else to keep watch over their money.
I’m sure the media wouldn’t want to prove their sanity before they were allowed to exercise their First Amendment rights although some of them should.

Since when did the left let facts get in their way when they screech their propaganda?
Liberalism is truly a Mental Disorder.
Zactly. The way this usually works is some blogger puts something false out there and some TV/radio news station or local paper picks it up, reports it, and then the Big Left Media get to report the same bullshit by simply giving attribution to that local paper or TV/radio station. Once the poison toothpaste is out, there’s no gettin’ it back in the tube.
Liberalism is an ideology with a vision of reality based on an utopian expectation of human behavior.
I prefer to see it as intellectual laziness coupled with intolerance of dissenting views and extreme immaturity.
That pretty much nails it…
Intolerance of dissenting views… isn’t that most of this site some days? I also see extreme immaturity as well. Love you guys, but this is a mirror. Look at it from time to time
Nobody here in TAH is immature.
I can see your point, SSG D. We mostly tend to see things through military goggles, and can be pretty blunt stating our opinions. To be fair, everyone can make their points- just be prepared to defend them.
I think liberal views are misguided (and leftist ones are dangerous), but I do not have an intolerance for them. I have voluntarily attended speeches of both Bill Clinton and Barack Obama and judged them on their merits. I read HuffPo, Salon and other liberal cesspools from time to time, and I don’t need trigger warnings before I do. Furthermore, I am not shocked that people hold such views, which is what some media people seem to be when they encounter conservative views. To summarize, thinking a viewpoint is stupid is not the same as thinking it should be forbidden or silenced.
As for immaturity, this isn’t a professional outlet. I use a lot of curse words when I post here, as do others. I make jokes, I use sarcasm, etc. I am NOT doing this for my job. I do not expect to see this behavior from CNN.
Aw1Ed and CPT11A,
Thank you both for seeing that the world is not black and white. I also see things through military goggles at my day job in the operating room. I tend to abuse the shit out of my residents and med students. However, when they have a valid point, I listen. Some here, don’t listen at all.
counterpoint: the polite tolerance of evil and or stupid does quite a bit of damage to society.
So courtesy and tolerance have a place. But, with limits.
Actually, IMO everyone here listens. But most here are also not afraid to tell someone they think what they’re saying is BS – very bluntly. And also explain why.
The Left isn’t used to that; they’re used to having everyone nod and agree. So they perceive differing opinions (AKA resistance to Leftist Groupthink) as “intolerance”.
It’s called “political correctness in action”. Or, more accurately, “Newspeak”. Take your pick.
That post, particularly paragraph #2, is spot on.
A Priest at a Church I used to attend once referred to the “I’m okay, you’re okay” mentality and political correctness as social and spiritual suicide and I still heartily agree with that.
Also, FWIW, it’s been ten years since I saw Obama speak (he was only a candidate back then), but I really found him boring. Conservative mockery of “hope ‘n change” resonated with me because I experienced it live. Lots of shiny rhetoric, very little actual substance.
All he ever spoke was truisms and proggie platitudes/talking points. He was always short on substance.
Liberals believe that if they could just get enough votes they could change the laws of Physics.
Invariably, if these progtards are flapping their cockholsters, they are lying.
Cockholsters?
Humm…
Hahaha, I got it!
“I’m sure the media wouldn’t want to prove their sanity before they were allowed to exercise their First Amendment rights although some of them should”. You win the internetz for today, Jonn.
It”s always gonna be DTrump’s fault! ALL ways and always! You all ought to know that by now.
Yes, I know it, but it still pisses me off.
to be fair, at least they aren’t blaming GW Bush this time…it isn’t progress, but it is a change…
Chris Cuomo is such a leftist demagogue. That he parades around as a journalist is almost as comical as his credentials as a lawyer (“Remember, it’s illegal to possess’ WikiLeaks Clinton emails, but ‘it’s different for the media”).
He, brother of a far left NY mayor, is, along with George Stephanopoulos, proof positive of the media’s far left bent. They don’t even try to hide it any more.
Governor, not mayor. And he has dreams of occupying the Oval Office.
Did I mention he’s a complete douche bag?
“Did I mention he’s a complete douche bag?”
IMHO that’s like saying that water is wet, fire is hot and SHIT STINKS.
I stand corrected. I was thinking governor, but typed mayor for some reason as I mulled over which office he was besmirching.
Heard a rumor that I hiccuped in my sleep last week, therefore it must be my fault that guy over there three states away drove drunk. That’s just about how much sense lefty “logic” makes.
Of course, they are not trying to makes sense. They just want to reach their goals. Guess it’s easy when you don’t care who you hurt doing it.
The fact some elements of the news media lie about President Trump isn’t necessarily a demonstration of insanity. It’s more likely lack of a moral compass. It might also be pointed out that about 80 percent of journalists are now on Twitter with its own hive mind that does not tolerate dissent.
Not all elements of the news media have the same anti-Trump agenda for the same reasons. Lydia Polgreen, editor of the HuffPost, most likely hates Trump basically because she’s an aggressive black lesbian who blames hetero white men for everything wrong in the world
Over at the Washington Post, things are a bit different. Jeff Bezos, who owns both the WaPo and Amazon, sees Trump as a threat to Amazon and its fundamental business model. Part of which has to do with sales taxes, anti-trust, and H1-B visas. Bezos might not have handed down a direct edict to reporters to trash Trump, but people tend to do what makes the boss happy.
It should also be mentioned that there currently is no effective means of punishment for reporters who choose to bend or embellish the facts. On the contrary, monetary compensation based on page views means it’s more likely reporters will be rewarded when they make stuff up.
One of the interesting news media insider stories going around has been about the melt-down at Newsweek magazine. It turns out that a large portion of stories running in Newsweek are not originally generated. They’re instead quick-and-dirty click-bait rewrites done by piece workers in India and the Philippines.
Newsweek staffers in New York call it the “Shit River.”
“The fact some elements of the news media lie about President Trump isn’t necessarily a demonstration of insanity. It’s more likely lack of a moral compass.”
Not even that, they’re following their political agenda and dogma regardless of the truth.
“If you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it, and you will even come to believe it yourself.”
“Propaganda must facilitate the displacement of aggression by specifying the targets for hatred.” – Joseph Goebbels
Today’s liberal news media does all it can to follow in Goebbel’s footsteps while the left labels US as “Nazis” and “Fascists” offering further proof that liberalism is a Mental Disorder.
Jeff Bezos dislikes Trump because he threatens the very existence of Amazon…which cannot exist without tax set asides, subsidies, and tax free internet trading. As for visas, companies like this thrive on far cheaper labor from overseas as a central piece of their business strategy. Note that walmart is evil for paying at certain rates, but Amazon is good incarnate for doing it.
In the left’s never ending crusade to diminish personal responsibility we can see they’ve diagnosed this shithead already and the discussion isn’t about evil shitheads that murder but rather the mental illness they’ve been championing for decades to celebrate their abnormal retarded behavior. So which is it? Is mental illness bad or good today?
“There is no need for propaganda to be rich in intellectual content.” – Joseph Goebbels
The left does all it can to follow in his footsteps.
Lacking intellectual content?
Maxine Waters and Nancy Pelosi immediately come to mind.
Or look at the drooling redheaded buck-toothed Kennedy Stepchild the left trotted out to counter President Trump’s SOTU Speech!
Thinker for the day:
I have come to the conclusion that 99.99% of the problems we have with the media (and society in general) is that nobody is allowed to drink from the skulls of our dead enemies anymore.
What makes you say…
…oops, never mind.
*rustle_rustle*
I’ll hoist a flagon to that, Claw, after I finish sharpening my claymore…
Huh?
How the hell do you sharpen a claymore?
Yef,
The original “Claymore” was a Scottish two handed long sword.
Google it Yef, and do that with other things before you sound off and STOP eating the daisies!
Yef can’t help it. He is a millennial; their lack of knowledge of history (especially of warfare/weapons) is mind boggling.
You could tell a Millennial like Yef to keep his powder dry and he’d think you’re talking about foot powder!
Yef,
Daisy-chain the Claymore with foogas or other incendiaries.
Shake N Bake
I can’t wrap my head around how anybody can look at this with and twist it into bullshit with a straight face. Then again, I was taught as a small child that lying is wrong.
Trump is a big fat meanie!
Gersch, have you had your loppadickoffomy yet? We know your cajones are gone, but that only makes you a eunuch. What is your transition status?
I’m just the vagina he was born with…he masquerades as a male, a beta make for sure, but he has no Y chromosome…and he wears thongs that chafe the hell out of me
Did y’all hear about the grieving dad who was attacked on Twitter because he was photographed arriving at MSD to find his daughter (who had been killed in the attack) and he happened to be wearing a Trump shirt? Lots of pieces of shit saying things like he enabled the attack, and they felt sorry for his daughter and not him. A bunch of people with approved political thoughts get to grieve more openly than a guy who actually lost someone dear to him, because he voted wrong.
We need to start attacking the collectivization of grief in this country.
I have not cried or lost any sleep over the Parkland shooting. You know why? Because it’s not my tragedy. Same thing for every other mass shooting. Same thing for Kate Steinle. Same thing for the Christian/Newsom murders a decade ago. It’s not my tragedy, and I’m not going to adorn myself with someone else’s pain to show how much I care. I hate that in this virtue signaling culture we have many people who do exactly that.
When I was in grad school last year, I had an SJW classmate who constantly talked about police shootings of black men by using their first names. My heart breaks for Alton, Philando, Eric, blah, blah, blah…
Oh, did you know them? No? So why are you acting like you did just because you read about them on the news? I actually lost friends in Afghanistan but I don’t go around name-dropping them so I can score political points. And you didn’t even know these people. Looking similar to them in one small way doesn’t grant you kinship, so shut the fuck up.
If you lose someone, grieve. Grieve any way you want. If you don’t lose someone, don’t steal other people’s pain to make it about you. I hate that shit.
Bravo, Cap. Very well said!
Those sickos trying to score points on the dad are likely as not to be the next mass murderer. They are not Republicans committing these killings.
Oh hey, here’s NBC airing gun control interviews with kids from the affected school.
This in no way takes advantage of the emotions of children to push political narratives.
One of them said that ARs shouldn’t be available because they can kill hundreds in minutes. So being an expert or well-spoken in this subject certainly isn’t a valid excuse.
I saw those today as well. Made me cringe. To see such grief and sadness, harnessed so quickly to push a defined political agenda, is sickening.
Until we re-learn how to engage in reasoned discourse, work for and accept compromise, and show willingness to look in the mirror (as a society), instead of blaming the other guy for everything that goes wrong, events like these will only get worse and more frequent.
One of the kids at the school said in an interview (paraphrase) if only Coach had a gun…
Yup. They ain’t runnin that 24×7.
Look at all the laws already broken as well as the failures of Government Entities like NICS and the Federal Bureau of Indifference, and more Government is the cure? More laws aren’t the cure because those hell-bent on being murdering maniacs don’t give two shits in the wind about laws.
I explained this to a California liberal back when I was in college.
She said she’d just feel better with these still undefined laws in place.
Well, sweetheart, put your feelings in one hand…
I’ll just repost this here.
Not only the ACLU, but 23 National Disability groups.
https://www.aclu.org/blog/disability-rights/gun-control-laws-should-be-fair
I only counted two lies in their (short) statement. That is a good day for a socialist organization.
Was talking to my Dad yesterday, who fears that Congress will cave to leftist/media pressure this time around. Personally, I think it’s more likely and more appropriate that they go after the admission of gross negligence by the FBI in this case.
President Trump himself got on the FBI’s collective ass:
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/trump-blasts-fbi-over-parkland-shooting-says-too-much-time-n849121
I personally find it VERY sickening how the sniveling liberal lackeys in the mess media are using the Families and Survivors of that to further their agenda for more laws while ignoring the existing laws that were broken along with the indifference and incompetence of Government Entities that could have prevented that cowardly lunatic from acquiring or possessing a firearm.
Pssssst……
Now DONT go telling the libtards that one could easily make a smoothbore, open-bolt SMG from plumbing, general hardware store materials and basic tools.
They will then want to ban indoor plumbing(think of the children!!) and we will all be digging latrines.(again)
Dont get me even started on DIY guncotton
Hell, how ‘bout DIY ANFO?
McVeigh didn’t need much from the hardware store to do what he did, neither did those two ‘Slamonazis in Boston. When are we going to have bans on batteries and pressure cookers? Commonsense hardware “safety” anyone?
Oh, that is just -all- we need, the handful of spree-killing loonies here in the States switching from guns they barely know how to use to bombs that just have to sort-of work to create massacres.
11B- Most millenial snowflakes I am familiar with can barely cook pasta. They would prolly delete themselves if they attempted organic peroxides. I hope anyway…
TOW… True dat Guncotton has a much better RE.
‘Some’ people brew their own GC for stump removal. Drilled to the right depth, a 3/4 .50BMG case-full with a BP booster will do the job on most.
I’ve been deleting Colorado Joe’s comments about how we hate children, to save you the heartburn. You’re welcome.
Thanks. I guess cretins gotta crete.
If ever there was an individual who should have been a blowjob, it’s Rock-Humping Joe.
Is he one and the same as “shit-n-run” Joe?
Well, Jonn, you might slip one or another in for us. We do like our playthings from time to time.
Ass nuggets like Joe do ALL they can to get whatever attention they can and getting deleted usually drives them up the wall. KUDOS, Jonn!!
Yeah, there’s that. We can hope his deleted comments were long and many.
I view Joe as highly as I do those who wipe their feces on the walls of certain places or spray paint obscenities wherever they can.
The problem with COJoe is that he wants attention, and goes where he thinks he can get it all the time, so he says things just to piss people off.
He’s forgotten that rule ‘be careful what you wish for’.
It’s likely that CO Joe has gotten so mad about being ignored he’s gone to stomping on the beanie babies he keeps hidden in his closet when he thinks his Momma isn’t looking or listening.
For the benefit of those looking here who have recent history memory failure, what the 0bama admin wanted to do was have the VA report every veteran who had someone appointed to cash the veteran’s VA check to the NCIS as mentally unfit to possess a firearm or purchase one. The 0bama regime tried to do this by one of his pen and phone regulation fiats, but it never went into effect because of the uproar from the veterans community.
That whole presumption of innocence thing. So outdated.
The arguments typically make as much sense as suspending my driving privileges because some drunk three states over wrecks, killing a child. Objecting makes me a meany, child hating racist.
Just say “no” to ol’ Jim Crow.
I much prefer Russell and Cameron
FYI,
The song ‘Jump Jim Crow’ was so popular at on time that a visiting American delegation in Mexico was greeted with the tune. The Mexicans thought Jump Jim Crow was the US national anthem.
Crazy eh?
