Anna “Armed and Dangerous” Heres
Folks at Fort Bragg, North Carolina are being warned about Anna Heres who officials claim is “armed and dangerous”. She is a former Lieutenant Colonel and a former New York State corrections officer who has threatened to harm folks who work at Fort Bragg’s Womack Army Medical Center and the Warrior Transition Center, according to Stars & Stripes.
Heres is banned from the military installation, “but may seek entry through deceptive means and has done so in the past year.”
She is described as a black female, about 5 feet, 4 inches tall, about 120 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. She may be driving a silver 2009 BMW 328i with a New York license plate that reads “FZK-5156.”
She has expressed “homicidal intentions.” If you see her, call 9-1-1.

Remind me again why we aren’t allowed the right of personal self-defense while on base? This woman is a poster child for the 2nd Amendment.
What is her reason for doing this? (If she has one, that is.)
I’m guessing she was deployed, came home and was in the WTC for a while and didn’t get treated like the perfumed princess she expected to be. They might have pushed back on her claims of pain or trouble and didn’t give her what she wanted.
Some people don’t have a fun experience in WTC and are genuinely disgruntled for sincere reasons. However, from the sound of this response I’d say she’s not got valid reasons to be mad at them.
Agree. If I had to guess, I’m thinking someone didn’t get the Med Board result they wanted and flew off the handle afterwards. I could easily be wrong, though.
THats not the case at all she was sexually assaulted by LTC David E Cothran who per the CID report sexually assaulted this soldier and walked due to his affiliations on FT Bragg where he is a GS 15. I️ have the CID report
Can I see the report
I was put in a WTC after an injury. I certainly wasn’t pleased with being medically retired (Although it was a more than fair shake with what they rated me), but I can’t think of what level of butt hurt would cause me to threaten to kill my fellow soldiers.
I believe beening sexually assaulted can mess anyone up. It’s sad to see a MSG comments on how she is a perfume princes. This has always been a cover up issue in the military. Instead of downing her, how about we be helpers. I hope this all ends well. And you wonder why our suicide rate is so high.
And she knows that for the large part most Bases are “gun free” zones. She knows she can go an shoot up the place and have some time before there is an armed response.
/sarc/ Lets hear it for gun free zones; like ranges but without the worry of having someone shooting back. /sarc/
Gun Free Zones do little more than guarantee some perpetrator a free fire zone full of unarmed victims.
Because during the Clinton administration, they decided it was “too dangerous” for Soldiers to have personal weapons on posts. I remember the briefing quite well while I was at Bragg when they changed that.
If you lived on post, you were supposed to sign your weapons into your unit’s arms room, OR to the MP station. If you brought your weapon onto post to fire it at the range, you had to tell your unit, tell the MPs, get approval from them, and then you could go to the range and leave right after.
The amount of ridiculousness of that was astounding. But it was also pre 9/11 and Clinton was doing a good job of debilitating the military and adding stupid rules.
LTC Heres received a GOMAR at Bagram AFB in the winter of 2015 for her behavior against A CPT Hernandez that was a part of my staff while I was on leave in California during Christmas of 2015 with my family.
LTC Heres is in the IRR and was promoted at max time in grade and I even tried to find a unit that would take her in an 05 slot and found out she has a GOMAR FROM 2006 as well.
This Soldier along with SFC (sorry to know him) Jason Andrew Carpione conspired to have me charged with multiple charges of theft and sexual Assualt.
After staying at Ft Stewart through June of 2016 I was cleared of all charges when both Soldiers were found to be lying in the title 32 hearing and both her lawyers quit after returning to Ft Bragg, NC where she has been in the WTU since June of 2015.
How she managed to stay there so long is beyond me.
She is upset because she lost her case and did not get what she wanted from the WTU.
I lived through the ordeal and lost my clearance for awhile and then retired as a LTC 90 days after leaving service in June of 2015.
She has a very expensive home in NY and no job and now she is in a panic.
Run very far from these Soldiers if you ever meet them. She never was tried for lying in court. Both Soldiers built witness statements exactly alike and spent over 750 hours working at night into the am hours to create these statements only to lose in court.
She is trouble and a ticking time bomb who actually had a SGM borrow 75,000 from her and never paid her back.
Now everyone knows the rest of the story. I was in the Army for 30 yeas, six months and 20 days and never had any issues with my commands or OERs prior to meeting this motley crew.
Yikes. Thanks for the warning, sir.
What’s missing in this story, the initial basis for her discharge?
The obese reserve (lowercase) ltc sexaually assaulted this officer. I️ have the CID report he Voided prosecution due to his connections on the installation as he is also a GS employee
That sounds like they are uber-toxic to all concerned. Sorry you had to deal with that trash.
May what happened to the man who accused me of child abuse happen to them: he died suddenly from a heart attack in his 40s.
Funny comment LTC(retired) I️ hBe a copy of the CID report and in fact you did grope and sexually harrass this American hero. Furthermore since your a reservist and a full time Dept of the Army employee on the installation of FT Bragg you escaped conviction!!! You fogo to mention that in your comments. Typical.. are you jealous of her nice home in NYC???? How did you know she loaned an enlisted member 75k? Isn’t that illegal? Did you report that to authorities??? No you didn’t. Coward and your a disgrace to the uniform you fat fu@&$9
She is “familiar with weapons”… I am breathless with anticipation.
They probably meant familiar as in she knows what one looks like.
I wonder if she uses a chainsaw bayonet ???
Tough call between that and the under-barrel velociraptor. I could go either way myself.
How about one of those ray gun pistols that were issued to Ming The Merciless’s guards up on the planet Mongo. Where is Flash when you need him.
“Candy gram for Mongo!” (sorry, the Blazing Saddles thing is metastasizing)
Until they come up with a turbo rocket-powered chainsaw bayonet, i’ll simply settle for either a light saber bayonet or an under barrel Cthulu launcher!!
Dunno, Animal. If the report that she is a former NY State Corrections Officer is accurate, she might actually know how to use one.
Depends on what she did there. A lot of corrections officers have little exposure to firearms. They’ve got to use their brains to get them out of problems. She obviously didn’t have the brain thing going for her.
She is using the Hillary Clinton version of the AR. The one that comes with a Blame Thrower.
No argument. Just pointing out the possibility she might actually know which end of the barrel is dangerous, where the bang switch is, and how to press it. Whether she can make the bullet go where she intends is a separate question.
However, if she was in long enough to make LTC she may actually have had to qual a few times. Her branch brass in the less-cropped photo at the link seems to be TC vice MC. Perhaps some of her units actually had their officers qual as requiredl. (Medical units have somewhat of a reputation of not exactly being sticklers for their doctors/nurses maintaining weapons proficiency).
Or maybe not. Who knows? But it’s still safer to assume she does and plan accordingly.
I’druther assume she is proficient with a firearm, and be wrong, than assume she isn’t and be wrong.
Being wrong about an assumption sometimes is a good thing.
No argument here either. I was just assuming the stance of a keyboard warrior for this one.
“If you see her, call 9-1-1”
Before or after?
A BT-800 is on the loose.
Anna Heres was involuntarily separated from the Army. I won’t be surprised that she was removed as a result of a series of poor judgement calls, plus these mentioned in the article:
* Making death threats
* Attempting to enter the post deceptively
These appear to be declared acts of retaliation to the incidents that lead to her being involuntarily separated. This woman appears to have control, and anger, issues… Like that guy that lit the young Army lieutenant up.
She has taken it personal as well. There’s a lot of history leading up to this, and the common trend in this involves her poor judgement calls motivated by the issues highlighted above.
You left out: it’s all everybody else’s fault.
Perhaps a strong sense of entitlement?
And Bingo, again!!
Bingo!
Y’all need to QUIT yelling “Bingo” before TAH gets stampeded by a crowd of little old ladies yelling “OH, SHIT!!!”.
I’ll take “how to make a roomful of old ladies yell OH SHIT” for $1000, Alex!
‘…TAH gets stampeded by a crowd of little old ladies…’: Not necessarily a bad thing. Sarc and I will hit them.
Not left out, that falls under the “Series of poor judgement, anger issues, control issues” umbrella.
Oh, well then that makes it “all YOUR fault”!
The ‘dindo nuffin’ wrong’ syndrome has been going viral for a while with all sorts of people.
According to this updated story, she is not a threat to Fort Bragg or the general public as a whole. Fort Bragg knows her whereabouts, but will not discuss it:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wral.com/alert-bars-soldier-from-fort-bragg-no-threat-to-public-/17102605/%3fversion=amp
Ummm ,,, looks like another CYA on the Army’s part in case someone in Fayettenam sees her and decides to put her down with two to the chest and one to the dome on principal.
Pretty stupid move on the Army’s part.
People that are nuts enough to make threats on base are nuts enough to do shit off base as well.
She may decide since they are banning her from base she should go for a soft target like a VA clinic or recruiting office.
Wonder what the fuck spun her up so bad. She made Lt Col so she’s been around a while. But with the caliber of officers like Bateman, Commissar and Rapone that have been infesting the military recently perhaps idiocy is the norm.
What annoyed her so much she went off the trolley?
Maybe she got passed over for promotion and was told she will retire at O-5 instead of O-6. That’s as good a guess as any, isn’t it?
A Field Grade Officer making threats like that? Something I’d expect to hear coming from some sub-par Enlistee getting thrown out, NOT an LTC!
What is this idiot’s major malfunction?
Looks like an idiots Colonel malfunction 🙂
There is something “fishy” about this story.
I have never heard of an Army Lieutenant (O5) being
“involuntarily separated”.
Bet she was Army Reserves (IMA) or National Guard since the majority of her addresses are listed as New York State.
Hondo, I think you are right that she could have been Transportation Corps (TC) since one of her addresses is Newport News, VA, which is outside of Fort Eustis, home of the TC. Course, she also could be Medical Service Corps and did her time as an IMA at the WTC at Eustis or McDonald Army Hospital (both Branch colors are similiar).
Most Officers make O5 close to their 20th year. Plus, on the BOLO, there is a “R” in parenthesis after “LTC” which tells me she is Retired ( normally it would be “Ret” and if she was Reserves, it would be “USAR” and National Guard “NGB”).
Another strange part about her name: one has “usmc” ana heres listed as her name. There is an address for her at Quantico, VA. She could have received her commission at Marine Corps OCS, then transferred to an Army TPU or IMA. She might have been passed over for O6 or received her 20 year letter or possibly deployed and injured or suffered PTSD…but again, have never hear of a LTC being “involuntary separated.” 2LT, 1LT, CPTs yes (passed over for promotion), Majors when there is a RIF, but LTCs? No. If the Army does not need you and you have 20 years or “points”, it’s Masalama Sadiki.
I think this made the news because of other shootings that involved active or former Military members. And again, she is not a threat to Fort Bragg, the Fayetteviile/Cumberland Co area or the general public. Fort Bragg knows where she is located.
We shall see.
AP: it’s rare, but it is at least theoretically possible for a relatively junior O5 to be selected for RIF action and not have 18 years active service – and thus not qualify for sanctuary. (As you noted, first/second consideration for O6 generally happens around 20 years or so, so 2x nonselect probably isn’t in play here.) It’s also possible for an O5 to be selected for involuntary early retirement by DA board action. And as CA_SGT observes above, not everyone is pleased if they’re involuntarily retired for medical reasons (med retirements generally aren’t optional). All of those are involuntary separations – though in the latter two cases, they come with a pension. (smile)
There’s also the possibility of a board action leading to involuntary release after some type of misconduct, but I think we can rule that out in this case. I’m pretty sure that would have come out already had that been the reason behind her involuntary REFRAD.
Bottom line: it’s entirely possible for an active component O5 (or any officer) to be involuntarily released from active duty for other than disciplinary reasons. But since there are proportionally fewer O5s and above in comparison to the rest of the Army, you don’t see it happen as often as you do with lower-graded officers or enlisted personnel.
Haven’t heard of any SERB boards or non-SERB RIFs for O5s lately, though I might have missed them. So my guess would be either a forced med retirement or that she was a member of the reserve components (ARNG or USAR, with the latter more likely based on her branch), ended up doing a contingency tour, tried to stay on active duty after her tour ended for one reason or another (possibly for med treatment/board action), and was eventually told she was being REFRAD. The fact that she was apparently assigned to a WTC is consistent with that possibility, as you note above.
Addendum: thought of one other possibility for an involuntary discharge. The article gives her age as 50. If she was commissioned immediately after college into the reserve components (USAR/ARNG) at age 22, she’d have reached max years of commissioned service for an O5 at age 50. Barring some other rare situation allowing her to continue service, that would mean she’d have to be involuntarily REFRAD and placed on the reserve retired list (or simply retired, if she had 20 years of cumulative active service).
This is just weird.
Do any members of the military of any branch, any rank make it through an enlistment without some degree of heartburn over some stupid decision coming from higher? Doubt it. The longer you are in the more opportunities arise. How that translates into a willingness to shoot up innocent bystanders is curious, to say the least.
This whole self-centered notion of what an individual wants trumps whatever needs to be done is absurd whether it is from low level enlistees or upper command structure.
