I especially like it when the perp is shot with his own gun
An off duty cop should have a gun in the house
Here is an argument for “home carry” inside the house

Could be a departmental requirement that when off duty the weapon be secured in a safe, and the cop couldn’t get to it in time.

I have no knowledge one way or the other, but folks outside of Texas are a little weird that way.

‘The concealed pistol license holder…’

I did not know that CCW permits are issued as weapons-specific documents. Does that mean that I have to get a CCW for my A&P57A as well as a separate CCW for my GrBn0.051, too?

Graybeard

At first in Texas one had to qualify with the type of pistol one intended to carry – revolver or semi-auto. I don’t remember which was the case, but one qual allowed either type of pistol, the other was type-specific only. They did away with that nonsense later.

But in the defense of the reporter, (s)he said “pistol” probably because a long-gun is not covered, but the expected readership might not know that.
