Thursday morning feel good stories

| June 29, 2017

From Okeechobee, Florida;

The Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office says a man and his wife arrived at their home on NE 138 Street just before 10 p.m. Tuesday and saw their front door wide open.

Deputies say the man walked inside the home and retrieved a shotgun. He found the burglar going through their property and confronted him.

Officials say the burglar ran out of the back door, and the homeowner fired two shots at him. The man told deputies he wasn’t sure if either of the bullets hit the burglar.

Deputies and K-9 searched the area but couldn’t find the burglar.

From DeKalb County, Georgia;

DeKalb County police said around 2 a.m., a gunman forced his way into an apartment located near Stonecrest Mall. Police said the father and his teenage son were inside the unit.

The father and son apparently didn’t have any cash, so the gunman forced the victims into his pickup truck and made them drive to a SunTrust located on Panola Road.

Once the truck parked at the bank, the father and son made their move, according to police.

While struggling with the home invader over his weapon, the gun went off at least twice.

Police said the suspect died at the scene.

Both the father and son waited for police to arrive and are cooperating with the investigation.

From Las Vegas, Nevada;

The owner and the father of three says he had a bad feeling when the customer walked in but did not expect what came next.

Suddenly, the man kicked over the counter and smashed the glass.

While the thief grabbed an iPad and cellphone, the store owner was grabbing his gun from a safe.

When the man saw the gun, he immediately dropped the items and walked out with his hands up.

Well, I’ll be damned. Today we have an actual example of a criminal with enough common sense to pour p!ss out of a boot.

Nah, if he were that smart he would not be knocking over cell phone stores. Self preservation kicked in.

I’m annoyed that that the title says, “clerk” instead of “business owner”. A clerk most often will not put it on the line to protect a business where he is poorly paid to do a minimum amount of work. A business owner will be more likely to do what is necessary.

Could be, but I’d argue otherwise.

The guy realized – in a split-second, while under high stress – that he was in a losing position and had precisely one way out that preserved both life and a chance at freedom. He took that option. Sounds like he’s substantially smarter than the average crook.

I’ve heard a couple of folks say that looking down the barrel of a gun encouraged them to reevaluate their lifestyle. (I can say from personal experience that having weapons pointed at you, even when held by an Allied soldiers, certainly gets your attention.) Maybe this guy will be one of those few.

It does get your attention (14th & K in DC during the Martin Luther King riots).

I’ve been a store clerk EM (early marriage).

You can bet that if it had been legal for me to have a firearm while on night duty, I would have – and used it if necessary.

Fortunately times have improved.

When the punks see an armed citizen their attitude changes, as a video here shows. In another instance, a punk shot himself twice, fatally while trying to take from good people.

So today we have one out of three goblins no longer wasting oxygen.

They need to drop the charges on her now, before she gets behind the wheel again. You do not mess with women five months along and not expect consequnces.

Jonp

Both bullets from the shotgun missed him…..face palm

Bill M

Noticed that too.

The Old Maj

They make caliber adapters but these are single shot devices. Probably not what was going on here.
