Just a warning; You know how much I hate to beg, but our rent comes due on July 5th so I’m going to be begging next month. Some wonderful soul gave us $2000 towards that goal already. I’m not asking for donations that big, all it would take is one dollar from each person who visits on a single day for us to pay the $7200/year fee for our server. I get a $1200 discount because I make a single payment every July on my credit card, which brings it down to $6000/year. So anything you can give next month would be a help. I’m telling you now to give you time to dig that change out from between your couch cushions.

Over the dozen or so years that I have been at TAH, I have seen many people come and go. It’s now my turn to go, and I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of you Dickweeds for the years of pleasure I have derived from being here. I have thoroughly enjoyed the exchanges, the great humor and the many fine folks that regularly and irregularly visit TAH. For wit, wisdom and heart, TAH is second to no web site. None. (I will not, however, miss the rat bastards who never leave Jonn in want of valor thievery or embellishment to spotlight, and I trust that the younger Vets will carry on this just and necessary fight.)
Naming names of the people I especially would like to thank would carry the risk of omitting one or two. So, I won’t try to do it. Besides, you know damn well who you are and, if you don’t, you weren’t on the list. As for me, I have kept my life quite private over the years here and that’s the way I’ll keep it as I take my final leave.
Housekeeping: I hereby relinquish maintenance of The Book of Firsts, the leather-bound and gilded volume in which WOT first commenters are recorded. Also, since I am no longer available for WOT rulings, you’ll have to squabble or get a new rules guy.

The City of Palm Bay is embroiled in controversy after the head of city’s veteran’s programs said a local veteran’s group established to build and provide housing for disabled vets had been misspending donated funds on things like parties, gatherings, booze, etc.
The person accused of spending the money is the Deputy City manager who happens to be the husband of a County Commissioner.
The County has suspended all matching grants to the group while FDLE is investigating. The Deputy City Manager has agreed to pay back all of the questionable expenditures.

This weekend marks the 75 year anniversary of the Battle of Midway.
The Battle of Midway was the turning point in the Pacific War in that the Japanese no longer were on the attack and were instead placed on the defensive. Of course it would be a long bloody war following that but the loss of four of their front line carriers was a blow to which they could never recover.
Here is the history of the battle, it is very well written and is spot on with the descriptions of the action in that hugely important battle between the two heavyweight fighters embroiled in a war that was truly the greatest struggle between good and evil in the history of mankind.

On Thursday, 6/1/17, I attended the 6th Change of Command since I have been privileged to be in Support of the Ranger Instructors at Camp James E.Rudder, home of the Florida Phase of Army Ranger School. The outgoing commander this time, LTC Bart Hensler, is by far, the the most respected, the most liked, of all the CO types that I have seen before him. All were good soldiers, but this guy had the respect of his men like no one I had seen before. The new CO has some big boots to fill, but has a past that should have him well prepared for the next two years.

Why is it not binding? Because OUR US CONSTITUTION says specifically that a treaty has to be ratified and signed by two-thirds of the Senate, which is something that gladhanding sack of shit bodaprez – now GONE FOREVER – did not do.
The United States is NOT under ANY obligation to knuckle under to an agreement like the Paris Accord.
