Saturday morning feel good stories
From Blue Springs, Missouri;
Police say three young men broke into the home, ransacked it and stole two guns, including an AK-47 long rifle and a handgun. A get-away driver waited outside in a gold car, police say.
According to neighbors, the man who lives next door heard a gunshot inside his neighbor’s house, so he grabbed his own gun and confronted the burglars.
“‘Cause he saw two of the burglars running down the street this way so he was firing shots at them, ’cause he had heard a shot inside the house…. and then another one was running down the street this way,” said one neighbor.
The neighbor says he saw one of the suspected burglars running down the street, looking behind him.
“And I knew something was strange because he kept looking behind him,” he said. “And a guy started yelling, ‘Robbery! Robbery!’
Three of the crooks were rounded up by the police, the fourth is still in the wind.
From San Antonio, Texas;
Police say the man tried to get into the home through a window, but the armed homeowner met the alleged intruder and shot him.
The alleged intruder died at a hospital. Police said the man left a 7-year-old in the car during the attempted break-in.
From Phoenix, Arizona;
[Cindy Bulk] hid in the bathroom.
“Gun in my right hand, phone in my left. I was just leaning up against the wall as far back towards the shower as I could get,” Bulk said.
As soon as Lewis saw her, she said he just went into a screaming rage and came after her.
“And he just threw one punch after the other after the other with both hands. He was beating my head on the towel bar and then put me over backwards in the bathtub,” Bulk said. “I knew if he got me down in the bathtub it was over!”
“Nothing really prepares you, unless you have military or law enforcement training, for shooting at a person,” said Phoenix Police Sgt. Alan Pfohl.
He says even gun enthusiasts usually only shoot when hunting or aiming at targets at the range.
“Because it’s not normal to point a weapon at someone and potentially take their life. There’s always the trauma that somebody will deal with after the incident,” Pfohl said.
“I realized that this was a kid,” Bulk said.
She shot Lewis in the stomach.
Her attacker survived the gun shot, but she got rid of her gun when she got out of the hospital.

Here are some strange incidents, including one with the law abiding gunowner, holding her weapon and allowing a thug to beat on her. I can understand not wanting to shoot someone, I don’t want to shoot anyone, but when it is my life, my goods, my family, I won’t hesitate to shoot. And if I did have to shoot, I would have to decide who to call first; the cops or to order a pizza.
The pizza would probably get there first.
The lady in Arizona is nice for her own good.
We damage society greatly when we convince good people that it is better to accept a beating, or worse, than to injure or kill a thug who preys upon the innocent.
When that becomes a majority view, a civilization will fall.
Note who pushes that belief, and ponder what sort of a horrific world they wish to build where that insane and evil view is enforceable by law.
That is the law for slaves.
$10 bucks says after she calms down she gets another gun. That’s the only thing that saved her life. Sounds like she has been watching liberal media and guns are evil, but it saved her life. Ohhhhh the confusion ??????
I’m all for her giving the weapon up. If she’s not going to use it in that situation, it is only a matter of time before if becomes the possession of a common street thug.
Now that they reported she gave away her gun, she is a prime target for another nutcase, damned if I would stand there and let some punk punch me out while I had a gun in my hand!!
If anything ever clears up one’s doubt about owning a weapon for personal defense, she just had it happen to her and luckily, she got away with her life. If anything, she should have gone and bought another one and got in some range time. But as you said Sgt M, “Ohhhhh the confusion??????”
The linked news article makes it clear that
in spite of having been taught to shoot, the woman from Arizona was not mentally prepared to defend herself. Owning a firearm is useless to anyone not prepared to follow through when necessary, or who values the life of the attacker above their own.
Feel good story for me:
I RETIRED YESTERDAY!
Got 85 days of PTAD/Terminal to look forward to and taking the Mrs. to the Bahamas next month. Been a GOOD career!
Good on you Jay. Congrats. Enjoy.
Congratulations Jay and enjoy your well earned retirement!
Lucky you. I was looking for work when I retired; because why not? The day after I retired I started getting calls to come to work at a new job so my retirement lasted all of one day.
No regrets though.
Bahamas? That is giving me ideas.
YOU will miss it!!
Owning a gun DOESN’T make you a “superman” or sniper.
You must be prepared to DEFEND yourself and others IF your life is threatened.
She obviously needed more training and range time. One way to cure this inability to pull the trigger at the right time is to join a club like 3-gun, IDP, or a cowboy action club, where you shoot scenarios at least once or twice a month. It teaches you to perceive, think, react, and shoot (also known as the OODA loop). It builds muscle memory. People that do that are less likely to hesitate when the moment of truth unexpectedly arrives. The biggest mistake one can make is the one Cindy Bulk made–waiting too long to react decisively. Many who make that mistake do not survive to tell the tale.
