Sunday morning feel good stories

From Mobile, Alabama, 81-year-old Leonard Boltz laments the fact that he didn’t shoot the crooks who robbed his store;

“I walked out from behind the counter and then he followed me back behind there and then he grabbed me,” said Boltz.

A struggled ensued between Boltz and the suspect on the floor behind the counter, while the second suspect stood on the opposite side of the counter watching the front door.

“He knew where the money was because I kept the money in my pocket,” said Boltz. “Finally he took me down and when he got the money him and his buddy took off.”

Boltz said the suspect took the money from the register underneath the counter as well and headed toward the front door.

He said he was able to get up and grab his gun from behind the counter before the suspects left the store.

“I got my gun and I pointed at him and he was at the door,” said Boltz. “I should’ve shot him because he hurt me, but I didn’t. I let him go.”

From Burbank, California;

After complying with the robbers, [Raul Gutierrez] said the two kept pushing him toward the back of the store.

“I didn’t have any more money so I thought they were going to beat or shoot me either way, so at that point … it made me decide to go for it, to go for the gun,” Gutierrez said.

According to Sgt. Derek Green with the Burbank Police Department, one of the suspects attempted to shoot Gutierrez in the chest with the gun, but it didn’t fire.

The store owner said he was able to take the handgun’s magazine during the struggle.

He should have shot him, taken back his money, drag the corpse out to the curb and then call the public works for a trash pickup.
