An Update on Everyone’s “Favorite” Berkeley Alumnus
Now, don’t jump to conclusions – the “fine individual” I’m referring to doesn’t seem to comment here. (smile)
It looks like our “favorite” Frank Zappa/Leon Trotsky wannabe lookalike is getting the attention he apparently craves. But as is often the case, perhaps he should have heeded the old proverb: “Be careful what you wish, you just might get it.”
Drexel professor and self-proclaimed leftist idiot “actual communist” George Ciccariello-Maher is in the news again. In case anyone’s forgotten, this is the moronic jerk tool made famous by his “white genocide” and “want to vomit” Tweets over the past few months. Jonn’s written about him before.
Well, it seems as if Drexel University caught a bit of heat over the “fine professor’s” commentary – which apparently also includes a Tweet where he urges people to “off the pigs”. At least two prominent Drexel donors have withheld promised donations to Drexel, apparently due to Ciccarielo-Maher’s commentary. Numerous other prospective students have recently apparently told Drexel, “Um, thanks . . . but no thanks” as well due to the guy’s idiocy – and have elected to go to school elsewhere.
Nonetheless, it also appears that Drexel’s leadership may be “getting the message”. Cigarillo-Moron Ciccariello-Maher reputedly received an email earlier this month (3 April) from Drexel’s Provost expressing concern regarding his “extremely damaging conduct.” The email also advised him that “a special committee of inquiry” had been formed “to investigate your conduct and provide findings and recommendations.”
Yeah, the professor had the right to speak his mind. But unlike Ivory tower academia or some mythical Progressive Utopia, in the real world actions have consequences. And Drexel is a private university – so they have the right to fire someone who’s costing them money without worrying about Free Speech or civil service issues. I’d personally be overjoyed if the Drexel leadership decided to let this tool go ASAP.
Yo, “professor”: free speech doesn’t equate to “zero consequences for anything you say”, dipstick. It only means the government can’t regulate what you have to say. Employers outside the government can and often do take note of what you say – and sometimes take action when your public words hurt their reputation.
A private employer can fire your stank-ass if what you say costs them mucho dinero or damages their reputation; I’m thinking you might be about to find that out fairly soon. And even government agencies can discipline employees who violate internal policies relating to offensive speech.
But I’ll say this about free speech: as you’ve proven here, free speech certainly does make it easier for idiots to identify themselves to the rest of the world. (smile)
(Hat tip to TAH commenter Bobo for the original version of the last phrase.)

Maybe he can get a gig selling software to the federal government.
For anybody that doesn’t know how universities work, donors are the real power brokers. When some guy cuts a check for $10M to name a building/school after himself, he’s got the juice to make things happen.
I never read anywhere that he’s a tenured professor, so Its Alpha Mike Foxtrot prof! Adjuncts are a dime a dozen. Drexel doesn’t want the decline that Mizzou has had since it caved to the radical left.
Since he likes to write about Venezuela so much, maybe he should move there.
He’ll just walk his happy ass over to a state run university recruiter and get a job where he can run amok. You don’t think he’s just going to fade into the distance, do you?
Sometimes your words have consequences. Sometimes the consequences are as minor as losing your job or being disciplined without losing your job. Other times those words can be construed to be a direct violation of your contract, especially if it has certain clauses pertaining to behavior that “damages” the business by placing it in a bad light. Contract violations can be expensive.
These used to be called morals clauses, many contracts still have some variant of those words.
In the absence of a contract many people are unaware of just what “employment at will” actually means. When they get to court they learn quickly that their attorney has taken their money with little chance of winning.
Even here in the liberal PRoM we are an at will employment state
Sometimes it is better to remain silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
“Off the pigs”?????
Oh. My. God. That is SO-O-O-O 1960s and Black Panthers!!
Is this guy living in the Stone Age or something? What’s next? Burning your draft cards? Chanting ‘Hell no, we won’t go!’ and sticking flowers in rifle barrels?
Glad to hear that Drexel U. is not amused by this crapweasel. My recommendation would that they show him the door and make it very public.
In regard to state-owned schools, the University of Missouri (Old Mizzou) last year lost 2100 freshman students because of BLM and other nonsense.
http://dailycaller.com/2016/08/24/black-lives-matter-has-officially-cost-mizzou-2100-students/
They also lost several millions in alumni donations and tuition income, something on the order of $20 million.
Once this wave of manic behavior is over, things actually will go back to ‘normal’, even if don’t agree. But it should be a reminder that when we assume that things will just move along as they should, there are weevils and roaches waiting in the woodwork to destroy it all while we so complacent.
I hear that he once tweeted “hey, hey LBJ how many kids did you kill today”.
Twist, I’m still half asleep!
You think Country Joe and the Fish will show up to support him?
Speaking of Bezerkely, they’re being sued by the YAF and BCR:
http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/its-official-berkeley-hit-with-lawsuit-over-coulter-lecture/article/2621135
“Though UC Berkeley promises its students an environment that promotes free debate and the free exchange of ideas,” the suit says, “it had breached this promise through the repressive actions of University administrators and campus police, who have systematically and intentionally suppressed constitutionally-protected expression by Plaintiffs … simply because that expression may anger or offend students, UC Berkeley administrators, and/or community members who do not share Plaintiffs’ viewpoints.”
FREE SPEECH FOR ME, BUT NOT FOR THEE!!!
Good to see that the YAF and BCR are taking a page from the strategy books of the left and filing lawsuits against the U.
“Punch back twice as hard.” (And three times as often?)
Glad my mug of morning tea was emptied before I read that. Laughed so loud I woke the cats!
Thanks to the Post 9/11 GI Bill (I am very grateful for that benefit) I have been going to a fairly conservative college for the past few years (graduate in 3 weeks with a fire fighting degree) and even there I have run into the twisted realities of some of the professors.
One woman was convinced we train Soldiers to kill babies and small children as psychological warfare and I mean she was absolutely brain washed over this. Another was a geology professor that talked about how we invaded Afghanistan under false pretenses of looking for weapons of mass destruction (Iraq, Afghanistan .. why quibble) but we were really there seeking to exploit the natural resources.
I am an in your face type and didnt let these statements go unchallenged but I have zero illusions I changed their beliefs any. Acadamia is a cesspool of twisted group think where there really is no interest in exploring various views and debating the various merits of each.
Since my kids are all over 30 and have been out of HS for a long time it makes me wonder how much of that indoctrination starts at that level.
“Since my kids are all over 30 and have been out of HS for a long time it makes me wonder how much of that indoctrination starts at that level.”
Look at how the number of families who choose to home-school or sacrifice for a private-school education has grown over the last 30 years. There is your answer. It starts in Kindergarten.
Kids can regurgitate the political talking points that schools shove down their throats, at the expense of the three “R’s”… just look at the test scores over the same time period.
Yep.
The purpose of a school is to indoctrinate children in the values or ideology of a culture.
It is just that public schools have been overtaken (thanks, in large part, to DOE and state “Education” departments) by leftist ideology rather than classical Western ideology.
Giving parents the right to choose a school – and hence an ideology – for their children is the best remedy for the insanity that has produced the snowflakes in many universities.
I would not cry any tears for the DOE employees if the whole thing went the way of the dinosaurs.
Truth. My wife is home schooling our 2 oldest while being a student herself just because we don’t trust the school systems anymore.
Another homeschooling mom here.
Natural resources? What, dirt, rocks and filth? That was pretty much all the “natural resources” I saw there.
We have dirt and rocks in the American Southwest and as for filth – ah, no comment. 😉
“… as for filth …”
.
Just visit virtually any west coast college/university, especially in California.
I have a pdf of the USGS’s mineralogic survey of Afghanistan. The only resources it has are something you can bag and label ‘garden fertilizer’ and sell at the hardware store.
A colleague of mine occasionally pushes that “Afghanistan is about exploiting natural resources and mining rights” on me. I really wonder where they get this silly shit.
ex-OS2:
Clueless leftist professor in the open.
You know what to do.
Cleared hot.
Cocksucker.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
(copies of ‘Das Kapital’; red Soviet hammer & sickle flags; and his lovingly framed photos of Marx, Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Erich Honecker, Che Guevara, Castro, Ho Chi Minh, and Nicolae Ceausescu all go flying everywhere in a huge cloud of smoke and dust)
Ka-Blam!
Don’t fear the commie!
Did someone say “Don’t Fear the Commie”?
By the way, Poodle – does 2 plus 2 still equal 5, like it did in that early-1930s Soviet propaganda poster? Or maybe our “good” Zappa/Trotsky wannabe lookalike professor here, AKA Cigarillo-boi, would like to hazard a guess?
Can we just eliminate the lum from alumnus when it comes to him?
Which one, 2/17 – Poodle or Cigarillo-boi?
Yeah, I guess it has to be one or the other because referring to both would require the plural and ani just doesn’t pack the same punch as anus. Speaking of an anus and to answer your question, I was referring to Lars.
Either works with me, so I concur. (smile)
There’s nothing to fear from Communism.
Everyone knows that.
Hey! Chicky-boiar! Here’s a video you can probably related to. It’s just a shame you missed the right birth date for it, ain’t it? Did anyone tell you you’re an asshole yet? Looks like Drexel may be doing that!
Just substitute “Afghanistan” for ‘Vietnam’, stoopid.
And before you claim that I’m advocating the same thing that UC-B did to Coulter, Poodle – no, I’m not.
Private employers can fire employees for what they say publicly if it reflects badly on their employer. Last time I checked, Drexel was a privately-funded university.
In contrast, Berkeley is state funded and is a entity of the State of California. Let me know if you need me to help you connect “the rest of the dots”.
Be careful Hondo, the zika-commie’s head may explode asking him to do something remedial this early. He has barely choked down his latte and meds.
I think that it’s a good idea to allow these whack jobs to be as visible as possible. They’ll scare a lot of sensible people, pick fights with people who can beat them up, and in general, become so thoroughly obnoxious that no one will want to have anything to do with them.
Arghhhh! Do we have to tie Frank Zappa to this blowhard? My buddies and I used to get together on the 4th of July to get hammered, play pool, shoot bottle rockets at the drunkards across the lake (cause you know, they live over THERE!) and listen to Frank Zappa. This crowd consisted of myself (the token weekend warrior that worked for Boeing to pay the bills), a physicist, a cop, a mechanic and the token attorney (you cant watch out for your buddies all the time.). Frank Z along with Warren Zevon provided the theme music for a lot of partying.
Oh and to be honest, I had to go look up the definition of “conflate”. I hadn’t run across that word until reading the posts from the Commissar yesterday.
According to the Google search page (https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=conflate&spf=68) the initial entry for Merriam Webster reads; “Conflate derives from conflatus, the past participle of the Latin verb conflare (“to blow together, to fuse”), which was formed by combining the prefix com- with the verb flare, meaning “to blow”. The source of Latin flare is the same ancient root word that gave us blow.”
So, to blow huh? As in “windy”, full of hot air, maybe we could say “pass gas”?
The Drexel prof should be aware of his emissions and possibly filter them. I know the land grant university up here in the NW corner takes its donors VERY seriously and they manage to unload those who embarrass their reputation, with more ease than one would think a state institution of higher education should.
As always; thanks for your patience with my disjointed posts. 🙂
“Mike?”
“I’ll take Zappa for $800, Alex”
Alex: “He called this a Harley, a dagger, and a monster.”
Mike: “Um. Ah. Um.”
Alex: “Sorry, time’s up. Dinotanker?”
Well, since it’s been nearly an hour . . . .
http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/frankzappa/bwanadik.html
(smile)
You needed to put that in the form of a question! You know the rules.
I’ll cover you just this once. Your answer:
“What is Frank Zappa’s dick?”
Alex: Correct!
LMAO! Thanks guys, that was too damn funny. 🙂
The beautiful Afghani Agates, Carnelians, and Lapis Lazuli are certainly worth going to war for.
