Eugene Ruf; 108-year-old Army veteran
Chief Tango sends us a link to the report that 20-year Army veteran Eugene Ruf celebrated his 108th birthday the other day in San Antonio, Texas and his shares his secret to longevity;
“All I can say is good clean living. Lots of Heaven Hill and Budweiser.” Heaven Hill is a brand of Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey.
Ruf is an Army veteran. He served in World War II and the Korean War, but he now spends his days playing Skipbo and leading a crossword puzzle group.

Word
Naaa…Tennesee sippin’ whisky, Ol’Jack 😉
Wine. Wine and cheese. Wine and cheese and a good book. Lots of long walks, too.
Red wine is good for the cardiovascular system but the cheese not so. White wine does not contain the same medical value because of the fermentation process that draws the positive attributes from the grape skin, but I drink it anyway cause some of the German and Alsace are sooo good.
Raw cheese from unpasteurized cow or goat’s milk are excellent sources of probiotics. I like blue cheeses, but many think it smells like stinky feet.
It’s wine. It’s good.
Clean living with Bud and whiskey…
As Conan answered, what is best in life.
I watched a short video and heard the distinctive sound of the NY accent. And, yup, he was born in NY and lived in Joisey for years, according to the 1930 and 1940 census. Another reliable source has his enlistment as December 7, 1942 when he was “33-35” and lists his serial number. Cheers, Mr. Ruf.
“…Lots of Heaven Hill and Budweiser…”
So given my consumption of beer and Bourbon, I ought to live to at least age 110.
Why would you want to? Believe it or not, there are quite a few Americans older than he is. BUT, it looks like he may be the oldest male American alive who was actually born here. If not, he’s close.
Cool deal.
Drink up.
Awesome.
Great old warrior. Keep drinking and I hope you see 120 Sir!
I guess that means that I’ll live until at least 108 years….but I wonder if it matters that I prefer Woodford Reserve?
BZ!
👍👍👍👍
The Scot and Irish in me got the wisk(e)y covered. The Spaniard, the wine. As I see it I’m covered either way to at least 120.
lol unless “sir” rocious gets to you first 😉
You guys are forgetting something. Cigars, nothing goes with about three fingers of Buffalo Trace like a La Gloria Series R Maduro, and that includes the ladies.
