I wonder what Heaven is like for a man who’s already flown pretty close it…

Godspeed, sir.

God sees John coming and says “Welcome back. Nice to see you again.”

Now, there was a man.

Flags are at half staff today. Fair winds and following seas, Marine.

He died Dec 8, 2016? just now burying him? I never heard anything about it, 4 months? something weird here?

Heaven kept him this time, Rest In Peace Sir.

Hondo

To quote the late Scott Carpenter: “Godspeed, John Glenn.”

Must have been a fine reunion when he arrived Upstairs back in Dec. Glenn was the last surviving Mercury 7 astronaut.

Very fitting comment, Hondo…

A great man passes, as we all must do.
God’s peace on him and his family.

Green Thumb

Rest well, Sir.

He passed last Dec. I know (first hand) that it takes 4-5 months for a service to be held at Arlington but I thought there were exceptions…like an icon and man of steel like John Glenn.

RIP Sir.

Buckeye Jim

I believe he requested to be buried on this date because it is his wedding anniversary.

Classy. Thanks

Rest in Peace John Glenn.

Let me understand this. I’ll get strapped into this monstrous contraption, from which there is no escape, and have a few hundred/thousand tons of extremely flammable liquid or solid fuel surrounding me and blast off into space several times the speed of sound. And, if anything goes wrong, my chances of return intact are virtually nil.

I’m surprised there was enough propulsion to get him with his massive stones off the launchpad.

What a man. Thank you for your service, Marine. I am humbled by men and women such as you. Fair winds and following seas.

The Atlas was a real testy bird in those early days… now she’s a rock solid launch vehicle all of these years later.

All built by the lowest bidder…no thanks!!

Rest In Peace, Among the Stars, John Glenn.

Deplorable B Woodman

One of my teen heros. I always wanted to go where he went, into space, but sadly, never made it.
It’s dusty here. Damned allergies.

Indeed, there was a man. So glad we had him for a while.

Well done, Marine. Rest now in Peace.

Little of trivia on this: John Glenn’s wingman in Korea was Ted Williams. Makes me nostalgic for a time when Americans would leave (at the height of) their professions, to serve this country….

2 Great Americans to emulate.
