Thursday morning feel good stories

| March 2, 2017

Amy sends us a link from Houston, Texas;

When HPD arrived at the scene, they found a male who had been shot several times. Police said he was transported to the hospital in serious condition.

While police were there, another male walked up and told police that he was the one who shot him, police said. He told them the man was attempting to rob him there in the parking lot.

Police said the alleged robbery victim, pulled out his gun when the suspect pointed his gun at him demanding his things. They both started shooting at each other, but the robbery victim managed to wound the suspect.

The robbery victim was not hurt, police said. The victim being robbed advised HPD that he had a concealed handgun license permit.

In Foley, Alabama;

Foley Police say 20-year-old intruder Sedrick D. Jemison broke three doors with a pick-axe before entering the business, Elite Marine, in Foley.

The business owner, who also lives on the property, was awoken by a “loud crash” and retaliated with a gun. The intruder was shot dead. No arrests have been made.

From Jacksonville, Florida;

The man who owns the rental property went to check on the house, where he found the intruder inside, police said.

The property owner shot the intruder, police said.

Officers said they found the property owner still pointing a small black pistol at the intruder when they arrived.

The intruder was treated at the scene, then taken to UF Health in unknown condition, according to police.

In Ridgeville, South Carolina;

A retired Berkeley County deputy shot a burglar in his home in Ridgeville Wednesday morning.

Berkeley County deputies responded to the scene, but since the incident involved a retired deputy, they turned the case over to State Law Enforcement Division.

SLED says the burglar was wounded in the incident but had no word on the suspect’s condition.

We will protect what is ours. Whether it be our lives, the lives of our family and friends, or our goods. Whether you have a gun, or a knife, or a pick axe, if we feel threatened by you, we will shoot you.

Foley, AL … “no arrests have been made” Why would there be any arrests? The perp is dead.

“The victim being robbed advised HPD that he had a concealed handgun license permit.”

Beans Beans and Moore* P.A. advises that the victim should not have disclosed that information unless asked. Texas law may be and probably is different.

Texas Law requires a CHL holder to notify a LEO if (s)he is interacting with the officer, has a CHL, and is carrying at that point in time.
It is highly suggested that even if one is not carrying at the time of the interaction that a CHL holder advise the LEO of the fact.

So – the victim did what was required by law.

When a police officer runs a license-holder’s driver’s license, a big red box flashes on his screen to advise that the person he is dealing with is potentially armed, albeit legally. It’s always best to start that conversation on friendly neutral terms. The cop already is aware you are capable of shooting someone… best he not also be viewing you with suspicion.

TNX Graybeard. In Maine you must inform the LEO if you are carrying legally without a permit. First words out of your mouth. If you have a permit they must ask because it is none of their business unless you are under arrest.
It is a new law that has had zero problems over the last year.

Texas CHL holders are trained to tell police officers of their license each time they hand their ID to an officer and tell them whether they are armed or not. This is because when they run their ID it will come back as “known to carry a weapon”.

You don’t have to tell them or show them until directed by law but most instructors give you the above advice in Texas.

Armed robbery in Houston should be considered attempted suicide. ERRYONE is packing here.
