Vet’s stolen medals recovered
Mike Pomeroy left his home during the Oroville Dam spillway emergency last week. In his absence, thieves broke into his home and they stole his medals. Several of you sent us links when it happened.
Well, the medals have been recovered and the thieves arrested, according to Fox News;
Police had been keeping track and receiving reports of a blue pickup truck that had been parked at the Yuba City St. Isidore Catholic Church’s parking lot. The medals had allegedly been seen being placed inside of a planter in the back of the truck.
The truck’s owner was unaware that the stolen medals had been placed in his vehicle. When he discovered them he delivered them to the Yuba City Police Department.
Two women and a man have been arrested in connection to the case. Their identities and involvement in the burglary have not been reported at this time.

Rat bastards stealing from homes during an emergency evacuation….glad they were recovered and hoping the state gives them the maximum penalties for their crimes…fuck those people…
Nice to know the truck owner is an honest person and went immediately to the police….
It’s Califruitsnnutz, VOV. The state will probably buy the perpetrators a new home, stock it with food and give them an apology for the police inconveniencing them.
Let’s hope the thieves get a few dump truck loads of karma from some pissed off Vets, the PRoCA is well known for giving criminals a slap on the wrist.
The thieves are scum. What was the point of doing that?
From what i see, they still have a big hole to plug in that spillway…these three slugs would be a start..
Cocksuckers.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
Very glad his medals were returned, and the culprits caught.
My biggest smile of the day! Good job Yuba City PD!!
A little background info on the downed helicopter and the rescue medivac flight that Pomeroy was on for which he received the Purple Heart:
Date: 18 Jun 68. 192nd AHC. UH-1H #66-16347
Accident Summary: During flight, the pilot experienced an engine failure and started an autorotation toward a large clear grassy area. During the autorotation, the pilot watched the RPM to such an extent that he lost sight of the intended LZ. The aircraft hit the trees with an excessive rate of forward movement. A fire occurred shortly afterward which also destroyed the aircraft. Suspect engine failure.
Aircraft Commander and Door Gunner survived. Pilot and Crew Chief were KIA. The pilot had only been in country 30 days.
Was that the one Brian Williams was on?
That accident summary is the real deal and should not be taken as a laughing matter.
Thanks, Claw.
Well said.
Claw, thanks for the insight.
But, I was wondering how a medic was involved in that crash, considering medics don’t normally man the 60.
Figured it out when I found this…….
“Almost 50 years ago, his air ambulance responded to a military aircraft down in enemy territory, he hoisted himself onto the ground and saved two airman from the burning wreckage.”
“Pomeroy was drafted in 1967 when he was 19 years old to serve as an army medic for 21 months in the Vietnam War. He earned the Purple Heart when a mortar exploded just feet away from him, sending shrapnel into his arm, according to KCRA. It happened when his air ambulance responded to a military aircraft in enemy territory, and he got onto the ground to save two airman from the burning wreckage.”
“They took soldier’s medals and valor awards, they took Purple Hearts and an air medal.”
Apparently he was the recipient of somewheres in the neighborhood of 23 awards.
I’m looking more into it.
There are whole units of UH-60s configured as medevac helicopters.
Love to be able to give those thieves some “wall to wall counseling”.
Why the fuck steal the medals? How much did they think they were going to get for them at a pawn shop?
Enough for a hit of meth? A 40 ouncer?
