AverageNCO sends us a link to the UK’s Sun which tells the story of our friends at the Walter Mitty Hunters Club and their latest scalp, Konnor Collins, a politician in the UK Independence Party (UKIP).
The partially-blind 54-year-old, who won votes pretending to be “the most decorated living British war veteran”, is one of the founding members of the tiny party.
Sarah Pye, 33, was married to the “cruel” fantasist for roughly four years, and wasn’t shocked to hear of his fabricated military career.
On top of lying about his military service, he’s also a bigamist.
Collins claimed to have served as a Regimental Sergeant Major in the Paratroopers, and said he received several military honours including the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross (CGC), the Military Cross (MC), the Distinguished Service Cross (DSC), and an MBE.
But after a thorough investigation the Walter Mitty hunters found no evidence of him having even served in the forces, let alone leading a remarkable career glistening with honours.
Ms [Sarah] Pye, who unknowingly wed Collins while he was already married to another woman, was far from shocked when she heard of his deceit.
The 33-year-old, who lives in Sheffield, said: “I’m not surprised because while we together he told endless lies.
“He would always big himself up to make him sound like something special.

Yeah and that claim is so hard to verify.
For those unfamiliar with current UK military honors, this jerk is claiming some seriously high UK military decorations.
1. The Conspicuous Gallantry Cross is the 2nd-highest British award for valor in combat, ranking below only the Victoria Cross on that scale. That makes it roughly equivalent to one of our service crosses (DSC, NC, AFC).
2. The Distinguished Service Cross (UK) is the 3rd-highest British award for gallantry at sea. It seems roughly equivalent to a Silver Star.
3. The Military Cross also a high award for valor. From the description and its place in precedence order, it appears roughly equivalent to a BSM awarded for an act of valor.
In short: this guy is falsely claiming the rough equivalents of the DSC/NC/AFC, SS, and BSM w/V device. Not impossible, but it’s quite rare.
And he apparently never served a day in the UK military. Freaking LSoS.
He also claims a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) also not handed out like candy canes during the holidays….

Hmm. 2003 was the 2nd Gulf War. I’m guessing this guy’s second wife was then young, naive, impressionable – and got “swept off her feat” by a returning “wounded warrior just back from the Gulf”.
The lady the jerk married first (c. 1986) is several years (8 or so) older than he is. I’m guessing he sized her up as someone worried about ending up alone as a “spinster” and used that to his advantage. He’d have been in his early 20s; she was then in her early 30s.
In short, he’s good at sizing up potential victims, flattery, and preying on naive or lonely people. Nice guy, eh?

I think the guy is a hoot. Before marrying a second woman, he didn’t bother divorcing his first wife who suspected him of cheating on him when she was being treated for throat cancer. Hmm, Konnor Collins ah his Mother Stephane Riding (Kevin Collins son and ex partner) have a ‘vote Liberal Democrats’ sign on their window today – 05/06/2017 – but the freedom of information act regarding the local elections, show they both seconded the local UKIP member to stand.
