Tuesday morning feel good stories
We start out the morning with an “aren’t you glad you don’t live in Canada” story. I think this is from Newfoundland where 53-year-old homeowner Gilbert Donald Dennis Budgell struggled with two fellows who invaded his home. Budgell shot one of them and the other escaped and now he’s facing attempted murder charges. According to the Defense Lawyer Mark Gruchy it’s about “proportionality” – if someone punches you, you can’t stab them – it wouldn’t be cricket. Apparently, in Canada you can’t shoot a criminal until they shoot you…or something.
The other day we speculated on who shot a thief in a Metro PCS store in Jacksonville, Florida. The latest article provides details. The clerk complied with the thief’s demands until the criminal pointed his gun at him. The clerk pushed the thief’s gun aside and drew his own piece which inspired a gunfight – a gunfight that the criminal lost. He ran to the hospital where the police rolled up on him.
In Brazoria County, Texas, Brian Spinks shot Deputy Brian Harper, but he didn’t get away with it. Four witnesses nearby tackled Spinks and disarmed him. Deputy Harper was struck in his protective vest and suffered only a bruise. Spinks is in the hoosegow until he comes up with the million dollars of bail money.
In Eutawville, South Carolina, a homeowner walked outside his home and noticed someone was sitting in his car. He went back inside and grabbed his shotgun. The stranger took off running and the homeowner punctuated his flight with a couple of blasts from the scattergun. He says that he wasn’t trying to shoot the man, and that appears to have worked. The police couldn’t find the stranger.
In Wichita County, Texas, a homeowner caught 40-year-old Grant Lynn Franklin stealing his property and fired a warning to get his attention. Franklin tried to take off in his own pickup, but the homeowner fired another shot that disabled the truck and Franklin crashed into a fence. That slowed him down enough for the police to catch him.

I didnt realize Joe Biden had so many supporters in S. Carolina.
The South Carolina po-po should be able to find the thief – just follow the hole in the air from his speedy flight outrunning shotgun pellets.
“Proportionality”… wow!
Would’nt be cricket? Where in hell did they get that lawyer? In DC? May burglars break into his house and kick his bloody ass!!
Does proportionality mean an 80 year old woman has to fistfight a 200 lb hopped up home invader ex con who’ s been pumping iron in prison for ten years
