Chad Dermyer; blue lives matter

Chad P. Dermyer

Mick sends us a link to the Virginian-Pilot which reports that Chad Dermyer a Virginia State Trooper was killed yesterday in Richmond when a gunman shot him several times in the chest in the bus depot there. I wish he’d had been wearing his body armor;

Trooper Chad Dermyer, 37, died after being shot multiple times, according to state police Superintendent Col. Steven Flaherty. Dermyer previously was a Newport News police officer from June 2003 to June 2007 and is survived by his wife and two sons. He was the 62nd trooper to be killed in the line of duty in the Virginia State Police department’s 84-year-history.

[…]

Flaherty said investigators don’t know what sparked the shooting. Dermyer had been participating with about a dozen other troopers in a training exercise at the bus station when a brief encounter with the gunman quickly turned violent, he said.

Dermyer was also a Marine, according to the article. His murderer was also killed in the exchange of gunfire.

RIP trooper.

I remember being told in the academy that cops need to be ready to go full throttle with anyone they contact. You never know when the crazy bastard will come out of the woodwork intent on ending your life just because you wear blue.

RIP brother.

For Pete’s sake, if you’re issued the vest, wear it!

As always…what the MSM didn’t tell you about the perp speaks volumes. Surprise…..

An official source identified the shooter as 34-year-old James Brown III of Aurora, Illinois.

CBS 6 found a James Brown III., an African-American with a long criminal history in Aurora, whose date of birth matches up with the information from our source.

Brown is well known to police there. Court records show James Brown III had been charged with murder, intent to kill, aggravated battery with a firearm, failure to obey police, resisting a corrections officer, aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, aggravated battery of an unborn child, numerous drug charges, intimidation, domestic battery, felony possession of a weapon, among many driving charges.

‘”He had a lot of anger about the police in the past,” Edith Brown told Richmond TV station WTVR of her nephew, who was shot and killed by state police. “He said he would never go back to prison again… he would fight it out with them.”

Brown previously had been charged with crimes ranging from cocaine possession to murder, serving prison time for domestic battery and aggravated battery of a pregnant woman. Police say he was on his way from Raleigh-Durham, N.C. to Aurora when his bus made a scheduled stop in Richmond.’

Maybe so but was he carrying drugs? You don’t just open fire on a cop or group of cops if your not doing something. It’s plain suicide.

Another “innocent angel” gunned down by police! Where is Sharpton and the BLM crowd?

Tell me again how that gun control will stop criminals from getting guns?

Is there a fund for his kids?

RIP Marine, Trooper.

RIP Trooper Dermyer. My thoughts and prayers for you and your family.

About the vest – hopefully a lesson-learned to law enforcement folks that we in the military know all too well – train as you fight.

Fair winds and following seas, Marine. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

I found this whole story puzzling to me. Was he and the others in uniform? If so why were they not wearing vests. Isn’t that standard equipment in drug interventions? What prompted him to walk up to the murderer? Were they just stopping people at random or was he showing them how it was done. All kinda strange as why did that guy just open fire? No talk of any drugs being found was mentioned.

Too bad another brave officer lost his life in the line of duty.

ceefour

They were doing drug interdiction of people coming/going on the buses. The shooter, a gentleman of color, didn’t like police and reacted. Do you think this shooter was a member of the NRA? Had a CCW license? Voted Republican? Was a screaming NUT?

WarEagle82

I am sure they are trying to connect the shooter to the TEA Party and KKK right now.
