Rest in Peace, Mr. E
Keith Emerson, of Emerson Lake and Palmer, passed away this past week in Santa Monica, CA. He was 71.
May we remember you as you were, Mr. E – at your best.
Rest in peace, Mr. E. You were indeed a one-of-a-kind talent.

Damn. ELP was definitely an influence on my own music.
It’s that time, I guess. The giants who laid the foundations for a sea change in music are passing away.
ELP was my favorite band when I was a teen back in the 70’s. I had every note of Brain Salad Surgery and Tarkus memorized. I played those albums until I almost wore them out. Karn Evil 9 is one of the most brilliant classical rock compositions, ever.
There are reports that he was severely depressed because of nerve pain that inhibited his ability to play the keyboard.
He must have been pretty devastated to take his life over that.
Rest in peace, Keith.
Was never a fan of ELP, the Moody Blues, etc. Not my kind of music (too soft and folky for me). That being said; I convey my condolences to his friends, family, and fans.
Here’s an interesting version with Jeff “Skunk” Baxter (Doobie Brothers) and John Entwistle (The Who).
Thank you Hondo for the remembrances of the old and greats. Keith sounded like he had four hands when he played.
He is missed, as are the old days…
RIP Sir, and may you enjoy your reunion with so many that have moved on to the next chapter of life…
