One killed, seven arrested in Oregon standoff

According to the Oregonian, one of the occupiers of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge near Burns, Oregon was shot by police when they resisted arrest during a traffic stop last night. Details aren’t clear at this point, except that Robert “LaVoy” Finicum, 55, one of the spokesmen of the Bundy Bunch was killed and Ryan Bundy was wounded.
Also arrested during the stop were his brother, Ammon Bundy, 40, of Emmett, Idaho, Ryan W. Payne, 32, of Anaconda, Mont., Brian Cavalier, 44, of Bunkerville, Nevada, and Shawna J. Cox, 59, of Kanab, Utah. They were charged with conspiracy to impede federal officers, a felony.
A little more clarity from the New York Times;
The F.B.I. and the Oregon State Police said that Mr. Bundy, his brother and three other people, including Shawna Cox, 59, of Kanab, Utah, and Ryan Waylen Payne, 32, of Anaconda, Mont., were arrested on a state highway, but they provided no further details. Ms. Cox and Mr. Payne were prominent in speaking for the refuge. Also arrested on the highway was Brian Cavalier, 44, of Bunkerville, Nev.
The authorities said only that shots were fired during the course of the arrest. Two other people: Peter Santilli, 50, of Cincinnati, and Joseph Donald O’Shaughnessy, 45, of Cottonwood, Ariz., were arrested later in Burns, and John Eric Ritzheimer, 32, turned himself in to the police in Peoria, Ariz., the authorities said. All of the defendants face a federal felony charge of conspiracy to impede officers of the United States from discharging their official duties through the use of force, intimidation or threats.
The folks who are still in the refuge buildings, of course, see this as a reason to escalate the violence;
At the refuge, a spokesman said they would wait out the night. Jason Patrick, an occupier, said that several people were still inside and that the mood was “prepared but calm.”
“They said ‘peaceful resolution,’ but now there is a dead cowboy,” he said, adding that he believes the F.B.I. was “hellbent on war.”
Mr. Patrick would not say whether the occupiers would stay at the refuge in the long term.
Well, they wanted a martyr and now they have one.
Category: Dumbass Bullshit
Welp. Time to recalibrate the lead to organic matter ratio of the Bundy Bunch’s bodies.
The Bundy Bunghole Bandits got what they wanted: attention and someone dead.
Time to go home now kids.
Wait, didn’t DITZheimer claim that he was gonna be there until the end when he posted his video on YouTube? If so, then what was he doing in AZ if he was gonna be such a badassed “occupier”? OH, and he turned himself in versus the shit he’s talked in the past, I’m sure that Bubba & Thor don’t mind having him in their cellblock harem! According to one article some of that crowd were quoted as speaking in favor of Timothy McVeigh and that’s more than enough right there to make me write them off in my book as kooks that need to be watched at the very least.
Ditzheimer also like to hang around white supremacist groups, so I’m sure that the Black and Hispanic groups will love to talk with him.
Peoria, AZ… That’s in Sheriff Joe’s county! Bet you he’s going to love wearing county jail PINK and living outside in tents! It’ll remind him of his days in the Corps!!!
Don’t worry… Bruiser Log Sweetman has a special “DRY” treat for Ditzheimer and it’s not wine!
When he surrendered to authorities, it was rumored that Ritzheimer had in his possession a half-consumed Bag O’ Dicks.
No sympathy from me, period. Aren’t there enough attention whores these days?
Unfortunately this will give these whack jobs perceived (by them) legitimacy far into the future like WACO and Ruby Ridge. The bad part is that the underlying issue of federal overreach and disparate justice I actually agree with.
Somehow, I think if Federal authorities were “hellbent on war” over this, the vehicle wouldn’t have been pulled over in a traffic stop. And I’m also relatively sure there’d be more than one dead.
Idiots.
I have to agree and I wonder if the LE types that have to deal with them refer to It as “babysitting idiots”? I bet it’s like a regional convention of Village Idiots out there.
I’m sure it’s like a full moon every night.
how in hell were they “interfering with feds” when they were enroute to a meeting? imho the feds wanted a showdown and started this ball rolling! there were also several witnesses said the guy had his hands up? the feds are kissing obozos ass all the way to DC and will do anything he tells them!
Sorry, these are the right wing equivalent of Black Lives Matter with guns. I despise Obama, but these are the same loony-toons that talked about black UN helicopters back in the nineties.
Ditto that! I watched some of the “live feed” videos and walked away wondering if any of them have any higher comprehension level than that of a seventh grader. What’s next, are we going to hear about these dolts suddenly demanding the use of USAR and NG equipment because of their nuthatch interpretation of things? I don’t put it past them.
Well now, old Lavoy Finicum stated in several interviews he wouldn’t be taken alive, so it appears that the LEOs were willing to grant that wish.
At least the only injured and dead are among the turds trying to take over the refuge. Tough guy shitzheimer surrendered on his own in AZ, guess he figured surrendering was better than being dead after all.
Well boo fucking hoo boys, you want to play armed militia man you should be aware there are sometimes consequences for waving guns around in front of the government and talking about not surrendering without a fight or not being taken alive. Sometimes the government chooses to take you at your word with all the consequences that implies.
Now they just need to clear out the other ass clowns from the refuge and return the community to its formerly peaceful nature before the unwanted guests arrived.
If you really want to know what’s actually behind this incident, read “The Bundy Standoff–A Century of Federal Abuse” by Michael Coffman, written in May 2014. It’s in six parts: I: Original Intent: How land use and “ownership” evolved; II: Unconstitutional Deviance and the U.S. War on the West; III: The Massive Attack on Western Prior Property Rights; IV: The U.S. Constitution Trumps the Northern Core Plans; V: Years of Tyranny Take Their Toll, Leading to the Standoff; VI: Environmental Extremism and the Hage Victory. It’s a bit sickening to read all the badmouthing from you uneducated people, when you don’t have the foggiest idea of what’s going on. The Bundy’s apparently want to do something about the BLM abuse of ranchers that’s been going on for more than 35 years, ever since the “greens” gained control of our public lands agencies. All the talk of “not being taken alive” etc. was taken out of context, and comes from the media building up interest in their story. It will be interesting to hear the accounts of what happened during the shooting from the Bundy viewpoint and from the FBI. Question: did they shoot an unarmed man with hands in the air? (Shades of “hands up, don’t shoot”! from Black Lives Matter!) Remember, the Bundy’s tried to get the Feds to listen and rein in the BLM, they sent out hundreds of emails to legislators, media etc., but the Feds refused to listen; hence the Burns incident when the Hammonds were railroaded back to prison. That’s another sad story that was BLM blatant abuse…
…And associating with Oathkeepers, III%ers and Stolen Valor felons is helping their case how?
There’s this thing called the court system. Creatures called lawyers use the court systems to adjudicate questions of law. They bring these points to public attention via something called “The Press.”
Maybe your friends should try some of that instead of armed confrontation with the Feds. There’s all sorts of public groups out there eager to Do Good.
…Just sayin’…
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
“Booda” was arrested? Wasn’t this guy arrested like a week or two ago in AZ? How did he get out so fast and show back up in Burns? I thought he took off and ran once they found out he was a phony?
League of Extraordinary Phonies are down 1.
LaVoy is a dead moron.
He predicted his own death and the manner in which he would die to the press several times.
In LE that is called a clue.
LE conducted a remote road stop because of the rhetoric and in order to keep the scene safe and LaVoy decided he wanted to make LEO shoot him.
LaVoy is a dead moron.
What I find funny is Finicum made it clear that he wasn’t going to be taken alive. Also a lot of people are ignoring the fact that the 2 men shot did not exit the vehicle with the others when they were told to. Ammon was in the back of a police car in cuffs when the shots were fired.
Since he hangs out and was arrested with proven liars like Ryan Payne and Brian Chevalier (both of whom were in the car at the time of this incident) I am somewhat skeptical of his version of events that night. But seeing how high profile this case was, I’m sure the entire stop was on video. I bet these militia fucks claim video doctoring if it shows that Mr. Finicum didn’t come peacefully.
Dammit, I hope no one beats me to this. 😉
“Like”
One of the questions about Waco was why they didn’t arrest Koresch while he was traveling back and forth to town. Maybe they learned from that. Also, that law they used seems to cover about anything they would want it to cover. There is a situation concerning property rights and federal jurisdiction happening along the Red River between Oklahoma and Texas. Again, it involves ranchers, but the land is not federal land rather property that has been in families for generations. It will be interesting to watch this unfold.
If I ever had any sympathy for the morons in Oregon, it’s gone now. If they have a death-wish, I hope the government grants it for them.
I now regard them about as highly as I do the Dutch Rudder Gang.
Inbreeding Does Not Work Look Here And Read
I get that pretty much no one here, myself for the most part included, has any level of sympathy for the buffoonish behavior of these guys; that said I’m a little shocked at the casual dismissal of what kind of sounds like a one-sided shootout.
I may be completely wrong, and it’s probably a losing game to try to speculate at this time, but phrases like “The authorities said only that shots were fired during the course of the arrest” and “Another person [i.e., not LE] was hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening,” coupled with a lack of charges like “Attempted murder of a police officer/federal agent” and the like make the whole incident sound a little like an ambush.
I mean, you’d think if those idiots got into a real-deal shootout with LE, or injured an officer, those facts would be trumpeted to the skies – especially by the particularly smarmy and self-congratulatory FBI. It would provide, in the minds of many, all the justification needed to vaporize the clowns that, uh, seized an unoccupied structure of minimal value in the middle of nowhere. Because public safety or something. However, nothing like that has been forthcoming. Again, maybe it’s too early, and maybe I’m way off base, but I’m going to withhold any pats on the back for the shooters until the story unfolds.
Uh, no. That’s not what an ambush looks like.
If the authorities had wanted these guys dead it would have gone down a lot more like this:
I actually wanted to reference that scene, it’s a great flick. Of course, in that scene the shooters are Delta, which of course =/= some podunk police force
What most likely happened was that the cops were arresting people and numbnuts decided to either pull a gun or act like he was going to pull one.
As others have said, play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
And now Cletus Spucker’s Hilbilly Militia has its first “Martyr.”
As a proud hillbilly, I take offense at you calling these dickheads hillbillies.
As a career dickhead, I take offense to calling them dickheads!
The Dutch Rudder Militia Detachment.
I’m curious as to how someone who’s genuinely planning on pulling a gun “acts like they’re pulling a gun.” Not challenging your statement (these guys don’t seem like the brightest bunch), just saying I don’t feel like has to be as obvious as going for your six-gun at high noon. But hell, what do I know; I’ve never had to draw sidearm in anger.
Shouldn’t this be in the “Wednesday Morning Feel Good Story” section?
Sooner or later, somebody at their little asshole picnic was bound to go full retard. It was just a matter of time.
My dilemma (or Dali Lama)is that the Federales are involved. And when that happens, what should be a black/white issue suddenly goes gray for me. Put another way, I don’t–and won’t–believe either side on this fiasco and the looming one.
Wow, someone with a more than a modicum of restraint. Take notes, gentlemen.
2/17 I’m with you. Something doesn’t pass the smell test. If there is video, maybe we’ll know.
Since the Oregon State Police conducted the stop, and we know how professional they were with that other drunk dip shit militia wannabe Joseph Stetson, and these dip shits wouldn’t get out of the vehicle…any false move is fair game in my view.
The only thing they could have done better is make the wounded little boy blue Bundy DRT as well. Just sayin’
Looks to me like they had the arrest warrants and were just waiting to separate some of the honchos (mostly Bundy) from the others before they moved to arrest them.
Smart move. It’s easier to grab six assholes in a car then to go after them when they are hunkered down with other flunkies in a building.
Great military tacticians, those guys. And now without their leaders, expect the remaining guys to make even more brilliant decisions.
I’m sure the remaining tinfoil-heads will try to be as brilliant as they can! I wonder how soon they’ll cave as soon as their supplies of cheap booze, takeout pizza and Oreos are cut off?
Who is this chick and was she a camp follower?

I read a media report (I think it was on the tv station webpage overnight?) there was political and local town folk pressure to bring this to a swift end.
The Bundys and their high profile ilk were allegedly lured out to talk to the sheriff with whom they had previous contact. Other “militia” members taken into custody at other locations including town. Road block allegedly conducted by the Oregon State Police.
The dip shits were armed men driving through a road block. The DRT one saying to shoot me. I do not fault the LE response at all other than there should have been more DRTs. Sadly, the DRT’s family looks like a polygamist Brown/fundy Duggar family reunion. There are more where that came from. Let the martyrdom begin.
And the “body guards” are still at the refuge eating the bag of dicks. Drunks with guns. What could possibly go wrong?
I hear Obama is ordering all tarps flown at half mast.

Sorry if feed does not play.
Comments on the feed were cruel/merciless : ie: “tarpe diem” regarding finicum.
“tarp me once, shame on you, tarp me twice, you won’t be tarped again.” “He died of a tarpattack.”
Feed jumps around, you have to follow the comments to find new link when a slive stream drops out.

Listen up DICKWEEDS (and I use that term very cautiouly and loosefullyistism):
Go ahead and create any bad story you want about this incident. Then read everything these good ole patriots have spewed, that included the who, what, where, why and how they would die!
When you threaten your government, LE and break laws … Ah … Expect a measured response.
Perfectly articulately and no doubt fully recorded.
I commend all LEO’s who had to deal with this and the garbage surrounding …
Ask Hondo … I called this!

FLEOA STATEMENT ON THE APPREHENSION IN OREGON
(Washington, DC) – Following last night’s arrest of the leaders from the armed group occupying the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon, the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA) National President Nathan Catura issued the following statement:
“FLEOA applauds the brave federal, state, and local law enforcement officers involved in the apprehension of these criminals.
From the beginning, this incident was a violation of federal law and should have been handled as such. The White House’s previous implication that this was a “local matter” was ignorant of the fact that the enforcement of federal laws on federal property belongs to the federal government – specifically federal law enforcement officers. Failing to address this incident for what it was – a large scale attempted larceny – emboldened these law breakers and placed all involved, specifically federal law enforcement officers, in the dangerous position of not having clear direction from the government about how it wanted to protect its property. This should have never been the case.
Whenever the federal government abdicates its responsibility to protect not only its property but the rights of the American people, who own this National Wildlife Refuge, it can lead down a dangerous path.
Although details are still developing and FLEOA believes that any loss of life is regrettable, had the situation been resolved more quickly via the federal government acting rather than reacting, this conclusion may have been prevented.
We now hope that with the sustained federal law enforcement presence, the remaining criminals at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge will surrender peacefully and, as only the United States provides, can have their day in court.”

The Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (www.fleoa.org) is the largest nonprofit, nonpartisan professional association that exclusively represents over 26,000 active and retired federal law enforcement officers from over 65 Agencies.
Latest news is that only 4 remain in the building.
