Gun fire and explosions kill 18 in Paris

| November 13, 2015

According to Agency France Press 3 people were killed in an explosion, another 15 were killed at the Bataclan concert hall in central Paris a few hundred meters from the Charlie Habdo offices in Paris and a hostage situation is developing nearby.

President Francois Hollande and Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve announced that a crisis cell had been set up.

“The president of the Republic, the prime minister, the interior minister are in a inter-ministerial crisis cell,” the government said in a statement.

France has been on high alert since the jihadist attacks in January against Charlie Hebdo magazine and a Jewish supermarket that left 17 dead.

Fox News reports that the death toll has climber to 35 and hundreds are being held hostage in the concert hall.

Eyewitness Ben Grant said he was in a bar with his wife when the gunshots were fired and he had seen six or seven bodies on the ground. He told the BBC: “I was told people in cars had opened fire on the bar.

So will the EU rethink its refugee/immigration policy or do we have to send them some of our college students demanding “safe spaces”?

Ex-PH2

Pres. Hollande has ordered the borders closed.

Taxis are taking people home for no charge.

GDContractor

So much for that pesky right to human migration.

This is our future.. If we don’t take back our country… Wife was on the phone with one of her friends and so far 100 dead maybe 2000 injured and the gunfight continues the luve art museum as we speak is under attack and three explosions have happened… WAFM when is this shit going to stop ????

Tony180a

This could happen in any American city. Centralized planning or Directives and decentralized execution. Almost impossible to stop.

Ex-PH2

It could happen in any city in any part of the world, particularly in venues like concert halls, open air festivals, sports games, marathons – you name it, it can happen anywhere.

The idea is to scare everyone into hiding in closets.

Well, we won’t.

Tony180a

HELL NO WE WON’T!!!

Commissioner Wretched

We can’t take back our country if we keep re-electing the people who gave it away.

Death count could be as high as 100 sorry about the number fatalities is a low number may be higher 🙁

News is now saying 118 from the theatre and maybe 40-60 more from the other places.

How many generations will it take before people realize this is a real war and the enemy can’t be negotiated with?

Reports I have from local media are 60 confirmed dead, 100+ being held hostage at a theater. There was a video of a Franco-German soccer match with the sound of an explosion a few seconds into the video.

Ex-PH2

Here’s a link to France24 livestream.

Hostages are being held at Bataclan Concert Hall.

Ex-PH2

One man who is injured is communicating that the hostages are being killed one by one. 60 to 100 people are left.

Tony180a

If that’s true, CT forces have no choice but to breach. These POS have no intention of walking out alive.

Instinct

From one report it’s apparently three gunmen at the theater.

I can’t understand why the hostages wouldn’t try at least a mass rush. They are being shot anyway, might as well try to overwhelm them.

Ex-PH2

One report said they had time to reload, so they are probably using the spray & pray method.

They are cowards of the worst kind.

jonp

Remember the train? All four that attacked the gunman were not French. The French except the Foreign Legion have had the fight bred out of them by the EU and their own government.

Amen. They are bred to be victims.

I hope the French Authorities show these fuckers no mercy! They can’t wait to claim responsibility and they should be accorded an appropriate punishment…Death!

My thoughts go out to the French on this terrible night.

Let’s hope we can save as many of the hostages as possible.

BREAKING NEWS, WASHINGTON DC. With the Paris death total now confirmed at 35 dead, President Barry (call me Barack) Obama addressed the Paris situation a few minutes ago referring to it as an internal matter and not a terrorist attack by Muslim fanatics because there is no such thing. All are kind, gentle people like his step-daddy was. Candidate Hilary Clinton when asked by a reporter said it was a video that upset those peace loving French citizens and both Clinton and Obama opined it was all Bush’s fault.

How are those “refugees” working for Europe now? Still going to lecture the US on how much we suck and how tolerant you are? 100 Dead, attacks all over France, riots in The Netherlands, rape up over 1,400% in Sweden.

should have helped us when you could have. Have fun with the next million or so that hit your shores

LC

Here’s the thing, jonp – the vast majority of Europeans are absolutely horrified about these attacks, and will certainly be willing to examine the roll the refugee crisis has had to play in facilitating them. You’d get a fair amount of sympathy there, even if many of them also feel there IS a balance to be struck between humanitarian needs and security needs, … but to chastise them right now, and basically wave your hand and say enjoy what’s coming, well, that’s just bad form.

jonp

Tough shit if you don’t like it. There is a gigantic lesson to be learned with open borders and unchecked immigration by people that dislike your country, have no use for your laws and institutions and no interest in integrating into your way of life just importing theirs and demanding you “tolerate” them.

A lesson if anyone wants to pay attention to it. With our piece of shit president vowing to import 200,000 more muslims into our country to ad to the ones he has forced on us along with open borders with Mexico what is happening to Europe and France is coming right here.

Being lectured by the EU and France over the last several years about how much The USA sucks, how intolerant we are and how inclusive they are with the “refugees” has come back at them and Europe in spades. They should have helped us in The Middle East when we asked them not morilized from the sidelines thinking they could side-step everything if they played nice. Muslims don’t care about nice. They are intent on a Caliphate and killing anyone that stands in the way of their oppressive 7th Century Sand Monkey Religion of Peace.

LIRight

If there was a way to give you a “thumbs up,” jonp I would.

reddevil

France did help us in the Middle East- they had forces in Afghanistan almost from the beginning.

They have also been very active in Africa, in Chad, Mali, CAR, and other places. It seems likely that these attacks were in retaliation to those operations.

So, in addition to being bigoted, your comment is factually incorrect.

GDContractor

Why did France pull out of Afghanistan early in 2012? I can’t recall.

jonp

Yes I am bigoted. Every Muslim bastard can go fuck themselves. The French pulled out of Afghanistan right after the bombings just to show how nice they were to everyone and spent the last several years letting the invaders set up no-go zones and sharia law right around Paris.
My daughter is about to hit the Sandbox for the second time. I have skin in this game. Kill them all and let God sort them out.

– Death toll reported at 140 following a series of coordinated attacks around Paris on Friday evening.

– President Hollande has declared a state of emergency, closed French borders and mobilized troops to Paris streets.

– Among the dead, AFP reports 100 concertgoers killed during a siege at Bataclan concert hall. Eagles of Death Metal were performing a sold-out concert at the venue, which is near the offices of Charlie Hebdo. A witness at Bataclan tells AFP an attacker shouted “This is for Syria”.

– French police also confirm three casualties following a bombing at Gate J of Stade de France football arena, north of Paris, during a France-Germany friendly match.

– At least one gunman opened fire at Petit Cambodge restaurant in Paris’s 10th district, and nearby Le Carillon Bar. Attacks also reported at Les Halle’s and Belle Equipe bar, BBC says.

– President Obama vows to do “whatever it takes” to bring terrorists to justice.

– President Hollande en route to the Bataclan theatre. His planned trip to a G20 meeting in Turkey tomorrow has been cancelled.

I’ll have to just hold my breath I guess. Hollande also stated that France will launch a “pitiless war” against terrorism

NavyEODguy

Latest body count at 158.

With the bleeding hearts in this country screaming to allow muslim “refugees” into this country all they see is dollar signs (at tax payer expense of course). The money involved is mind boggling.

Look up the United States Refugee Assistance Program (USRAP). No screening – it’s all based on code phrases to get entry. Then the benefits kick in. Housing, medical, food, plus “pocket money” to get around. Once here, the individual after processing can then have their family brought over. Again, at tax payer expense. The family gets here and wha-lah, they too get tax funded benefits.

If you look at photo/video of these assclowns crossing borders in Europe, the vast majority are MAMs. So any idiot with two brain cells with common sense will intuitively know a percentage are going to be the bad guys.

I could only stomach about 20 seconds of obamadinejad’s lackluster, emotionless “speech.” Had to leave the room. When they get here, I hope his is the first head, neck, shoulder separation procedure. And, performed on live TV.

I wonder if France will let us refuel and rearm on french bases this time. Perhaps Holland would like to borrow all of our bomber force for a few months. Start at the Mediterranean coast and bomb Syria until there are no targets left. Keep bombing it till even the mother loven’ rats are dead.

I take it the Religion of Peace is just peacefully being peaceful and tolerant again, right?

I just don’t get the French. All jokes aside, a century ago they held off the fucking Germans for three straight years, despite their own leadership being a bunch of dumbasses who thought that Napoleon’s tactics had a place on a battlefield dominated by machine guns. These days, well…the Cheese-Eating Surrender Monkey reputation didn’t just appear out of nowhere.

Reddevil

If it wasn’t for French assistance during the Revolution we would all be speaking, well, English.

At any rate, the French have a long and storied military history. We did the same stupid stuff in WWI just like everyone else, even though we should have learned about Industrial Age technology applied to warfare in our own Civil War.

Remember, the Brits got their asses kicked at the beginning of WWII as well…

We all pissed on the French because they thought invading Iraq was a bad idea- they may have had a point ther in retrospect…

Their CT forces are world class badasses, and despite what many commenters are saying in the news, they have been very involved in The War Against Terror.

It doesn’t really matter what flavor of Jihadi this was, they will all claim credit and do their best to do it again. It may be time to actually take ISIS and Al Qaeda at their word that they are at war with us, recognize them as sovereign nations, and kick their ass Mad Max style.

For those that haven’t done it, racing across the desert in a death machine is exhilarating…

Reddevil

Come to think of it, We got our asses kicked at the beginning of WWII, didn’t we?

Ncat

You make some good points Red, but I don’t think I’ll thank the French for their aid in the Revolution too warmly as they only did so in the belief that we’d become their puppet state.

reddevil

Of course France acted in self interest, that’s what nations do…
However, their motivations had more to do with creating a problem for Britain.

I live right down the street from Yorktown. There were just about as many French troops as American troops there…

jonp

Actually they helped us to get at the English in a real politic way. They then managed to murder everything and sundry in a “republican revolution” and have not made any sense in the last 200yrs or so.

Wesley Wilson AKA Enigma4you

159 dead so far, but this must be some kind of mistake because France has very tough gun laws, the kind that keep citizens from owning or carrying a gun for personal protection. the police only took minuted to respond and a few more minutes to get a game plan together.

There but for the grace of God go U.S.

Reddevil

This isn’t about France’s gun laws. This was a terrorist act involving automatic weapons, hand grenades, and potentially suicide bombers. it was combat.

The people of France did not deserve this, no matter what their gun laws or emigration policies were.

Dave Hardin

Tired of hearing that analogy. Deserves got nothing to do with it. “They” the people of France brought this on.

They brought in people from a known violent culture, gave them safe haven, and are paying the price.

This has everything to do with an unarmed population of pussies and wishful do gooder bullshit.

L. Taylor

Holy shit you are a moron.

Dave Hardin

Thank you Mr. Taylor I am honored you took the time to respond.
Fuck the French, they are reaping what they planted.

How many French men does it take to defend Paris?

Nobody knows….it never been tried.

LC

I’ve known Europeans who have criticized US foreign policy for ages, including some who feel that much of the current madness from ISIS, AQ, etc., is the ‘reaping of what [Americans] have planted’.

Yet when we were struck with tragedy, they said “Fuck the terrorists!”, not “Fuck the Americans”.

You feel their political choices were misguided, perhaps catastrophically so? No problem, maybe there’s some merit to that – though, still, maybe today isn’t the time. And I definitely think we can do better than to tell the mourning innocent mothers, fathers, sons and daughters who just lost loved ones, “Hey, fuck you.”

My two cents. I’ve got friends in Paris who are safe, but definitely shaken.

Old Trooper

This is a composite of news reports and interviews.

Any questions?

BTW, I don’t have “friends” in Europe, I have family there.

LC

You want to argue open immigration policies are dangerous? I have no problem with that. You and I may disagree on the specifics, but I can certainly see your point.

But to basically tell a whole lot of innocent people who just lost family and friends in a horrific attack, “Hey, fuck you!”, and launch into an attack on their political policies, (not all of which are supported by the French citizens, just as not all of President Obama’s policies are supported by Americans), .. well, that’s not exactly helpful right now.

Or, since you have family there, are you calling them up and telling them they’re fucking idiots right now? I’ve got zero problems with people looking to talk about what role immigration policies had in this and how to change them. People who are callously telling people reeling from a pretty fucking terrible terrorist attack, “Hey, fuck you guys – you deserve this!” deserve a swift kick in the nuts, in my opinion.

Old Trooper

I didn’t tell them they deserve it, I mention that it’s inevitable. The parts of the video showing the wonderful Europeans welcoming all these migrants with open arms are the ones who voted for the leaders that put this migrant plan into place. Now, when it’s too late to realize they were stupid, everyone is wondering what the fuck happened. Did you know that German news is reporting that several thousand of these migrants have disappeared from the migrant camps and they have no fucking clue where they went? I wonder if they’re out looking for a some good beer?

You can blather on with your sanctimony all you want, but it doesn’t change the reality of what happened last night and what is going to happen in the future. Our beloved President said just yesterday that he wants to fast track importing 10,000 of these migrants (who most are going to be able bodied young muslim men), which is lunacy. They don’t want to assimilate. They don’t want to co-exist. They want to take over and all the skittle farting unicorn happy thoughts in the leftist utopian mindset won’t change that fact. They admit that’s what they want to do and the do-gooders are too fucking stupid to listen.

As for my relatives in the old country; they’re leftists that haven’t been harmed, yet. Once they are attacked, I’m sure I’ll here the same things from them that we’re hearing from those attacked last night i.e. “why did this happen”?

I never said they deserve it. I merely pointed to all the warning signs that have been kicking them in the nuts for the last decade. Now, they’ve had their nuts cut off and they don’t know why. Others, including here in this country, are following the same path and they’re too fucking stupid to know they are being kicked in the nuts. When they’re nuts get cut off, they will wonder why.

Fuck You. They brought it on themselves with their policies. Stick you head in the sand, asshole. At least they will cut your ass off first.

L. Taylor

“They brought it on themselves with their policies.”

That is exactly what ISIS/ISIL said.

Piece of shit.

L. Taylor

This was retaliation for French air strikes against ISIS in Syria. For French involvement in the fight against ISIS.

It is not a consequence of being “soft” on refugees.

And France has a notoriously negative reputation among Muslims for being far more intolerant of Islamic beliefs than many Western democracies. It is actually one of the less popular destination for refugees.

France has only taken in a few thousand, though it previously pledged to take in 24,000 over 2 years.

France is not a population of pussies.

While French gun laws are restrictive by US standards France has one of the highest per capita rates of gun ownership in the world.

More guns on the street would not have stopped these attacks. Attacks and mass casualties happen even in high gun ownership societies. As they do in war zones with dozens of armed men in the AO trying to prevent one.

An attack like this is almost impossible to stop.

And it sure as shit was not caused by France being “pussies”.

Seriously, what the hell is wrong with you? One of our allies was attacked and your response is “They deserve it because they were soft on Muslims, and because they were pussies.”

Serious dirtbag.

LIRight

“More guns on the street would not have stopped these attacks.”

I agree…………….BUT! Had there been 20 or 30 readers from this web-site, retired or off-duty cops at that concert armed with handguns the totality and cruelty of the initial attack would have been severely limited, IMHO.

jonp

Hey dipshit. At least get your numbers right. France has been importing about 50,000 muslims from Africa a year.

L. Taylor

They have not been “importing”. They only process a few thousands applications a year. The rest are not regarded as legal and they are holding over 50,000 in detention centers.

They also have been condemned by the UN for violation of human rights for legislative actions and policies that discriminate against Islamic practices. Such as attempting to prevent Muslim women from wearing Hijabs in school.

Islamic extremists have previously threatened France for French policy efforts to make their Muslim citizens “less Muslim”.

And the National Front party in France has been swelling in numbers, and gaining seats in government as a rabid rate. After yesterday they will likely win the next presidential election.

WTF? I can’t believe I am literally arguing with you that France has been racist and anti-Islamic enough to NOT deserve to be attacked by ISIS.

Seriously, I am floored at how fucking stupid you are.

jonp

I’m floored by what a naive dipshit you are making excuses.

reddevil

I didn’t make an analogy.

If the population was armed the attackers would have used a different method- as it was, in this case they used hand grenades and bombs as well as guns.

This is also not a refugee issue. France has a large population of French speaking muslims from their former colonies (mostly Algerian) who are all citizens- just as Britain and many of the former colonial powers.

I saw your comments below and it is pretty clear that you are ignorant of history, uncaring of your fellow man, and surprisingly clueless about what is going on in the world around you.

reddevil

This was intended for Hardin, by the way, although I think there could be little doubt.

Old Trooper

Watch the video I added in comments above to LC. Then we can talk.

If we continue to deny the obvious, we are begging to be conquered. That’s not bigotry, that’s reality. Just because you don’t think it’s happening doesn’t mean the other side of the equation agrees with you, because they have a say in matters, as well, and they showed, last night, that all the touchy feely group hugs you want to hand out don’t mean shit to them, it just makes it easier for them to gut you.

Dave Hardin

Odd, I was thinking the same thing about you. Ignorant of history, uncaring about the safety of your fellow man, and clueless about what is going on. When people around me do things that will bring harm to their lives I tell them about it. I don’t stick my head in the sand and pretend everything will be ok because I might hurt their feelings if I say something. The French have been told for decades their half committed policies are dangerous. Since 1984 I have been telling people that a mind infected with the Islamic Virus is dangerous. They are like having a pet that is prone to turning on people at any moment. I won’t bore you with history, name one country that has been positively effected by increasing the Muslim population. Never has been one, never will be one. Islam took the most advanced population on planet earth and forced it to stagnate in the bronze age. Wherever it goes violence follows. Never been an exception to it. Your feelings have nothing to do with it. How you feel does not mean anything to them. Feel anyway you want, how you act is the only thing that will make a difference. The French invited violent hoards into their country and violence was and will continue to be the result. I you cared for your fellow man you would stand up and say something or do something when their actions will bring harm to them or those they love. Lets all sit around a ‘feel’ about it. You dont wound your enemy…you kill it. You don’t turn your back on a wounded enemy, you kill it. You kill it in mass. Yes guns on the streets could have prevented the deaths of many or most of these people. This event went on for hours. Fuck the French they brought it on… Read more »

L. Taylor

I am done arguing with you.

You are a nutcase and a complete piece of shit.

Dave Hardin

Thats the difference between you and I Mr. Taylor. I never quit. Its just not in me.

Fuck Islam, Fuck the French, but I still love you peaches.

L. Taylor

Oh, and ISIS attacked Lebanon yesterday as well with twin bombings killing 43 people.

I guess in your mind Shias have been too nice to Sunnis and thus “deserved” it.

Derek

No…..it shows this brand of assfucks that they will kill anyone outside their “flavor” of Islam. They’re all fucking stupid and violent to outsiders to Islam and insiders. It would be like Presbyterians and Methodists slaughtering each other.

reddevil

I spent most of my adult life fighting Islamic terrorists in their own country. I really don’t need your (mostly false) lecture on what they are about.

I am not suggesting that we have a ‘feel’ about it, I am not suggesting that France did everything they could to stop the flow of refugees, and I am not even commenting on their gun laws.

I am saying that these are human beings, and they did not deserve this attack, and they certainly don’t deserve your scorn.

Dave Hardin

The French earned my scorn. The worked hard over decades to get it.

Their efforts have yielded dividends.

They fostered an environment that resulted in their own country burning and their own people being killed.

That my friend is tragic. How I feel about it doesn’t change a thing.

jonp

I blame the people of Europe for letting the EU take over their countries and allow unimpeded mass migration from the goat screwing sand monkees. From the news reports I’m reading from all over Europe the elites are patting themselves on the backs about their tolerance and the people are becoming very angry. Germany is close to civil war, Sweden is not far behind.

Wesley Wilson AKA Enigma4you

I was NOT saying that the citizens of France deserved this in any way. I was saying that this is an example of what happens when the ability for the public to defend it’s self is taken away.

The killed and injured followed the law, the law intended to protect them. A few terrorist had control for 10 to 15 min before before any police arrived.

Lets draw a parallel. we have an insane person with a gun at a public venue, we have allowed knee jerk laws to be passed with the effect being disarming the law abiding people, the insane people dont care and start killing.

No the good people of France were led to slaughter by there own governments good intentions , I will be more than willing to stand with them, stand in front of them and scream Viva La France but I will damned sure have a way to defend them when I do.

Obama says in his speech that the attack in France is an attack on “all humanity.” Bolton says “wrong” it’s essentially an attack on the “West, our values, freedoms, etc.” …………their (ISIS) “capabilities are growing.”

Consider also the Russian airliner recently (likely) blown up.

A lot of co-ordination, planning, money, strategy involved in this attack. Yes, their capabilities are growing!

As the USA’s influence diminishes around the world and in particular, the Middle-East, the violence and terrorism increases.

Don’t worry, Everyone. Al Gore was broadcasting from the top of The Eiffel Tower about the greatest threat to humanity in our time, global warming, at the time. He is on the case.

LIRight

Damn…..I knew I missed something last night! I heard they shut him down five hours after starting his global warming Bovine Scatology.

jonp

Yeah, I didn’t know he was doing that either. I stay up on the news pretty well and I didn’t see anything about Gore’s marathon 24hr broadcast.

MSG Eric

I hear he takes a break on Saturdays to continue his unending search for ManBearPig.

LIRight

Gore strikes more of a sheep kind of guy. He speaks their language.

I can imagine him whispering “sweet nothings” into some sheep’s ear….and from what I hear – male or female sheep is immaterial.

It must be all that global warming.

Bobo

Don’t worry, I’ve just heard that the US has summoned James Taylor and his guitar to Paris.

Words from an Airborne, Ranger, Infantry, True Warrior, Chaplain:
Thanks Charlie:
“We don’t need to respond with candlelight vigils and walls of teddy bears…we need a sky full of C17s that are packed with paratroopers rigged in CE, and exposed weapons, all jacked up on caffeine, patriotism, and hate, to descend from 900 feet and lay waste to the wicked…
We need to inflict so much aggression on them they flee back into the caves they came from and wilt in fear like the cowards they are…”

Old Trooper

Sounds good to me.

Dave Hardin

That won’t work if all of their Allies deny then the use of their air space, rant and rave about it at the UN and run when they are bloodied at the first sign of a fight.

The people who have allowed this to happen in France should be held accountable. That is the majority of the population that put this current government into office.

They have been like this for many decades.

Ex-PH2

ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attacks, as was predicted.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/11/14/us-france-shooting-idUSKCN0T22IU20151114

On the Reuters page, there is another link with the headline that the focus on discussing Syria will shift to battle against the Islamic State.

Also, if you go to the link, there is a highlighted item stating that a Syrian passport was found near the body of one of the suicide bombers.

The Dutch have now ramped up their own border security, say their are at war with the Islamic State.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/11/14/us-france-shooting-dutchborder-idUSKCN0T30TF20151114

This was predictable, but did take a lot of planning and follows hard on the heels of the bombing of the Russian airliner.

Unless I’m over-reacting, which I seldom do, there will be more attacks like this in Europe, and there will be some here in cities like New York and WDC. So, if you’re planning a trip to the Smithsonian in WDC, or the Met in NYC, better do it ASAP. On this link to Reuters’ front page, there is a link to an article that says the Islamic state considers France its primary target.

I think it would be best if, instead of discussing what kind of guns to carry, we talked about ways to heighten our own awareness of our surroundings without becoming alarmists.

Lest I forget, Lars, try not to be a social moron today. You don’t know everything – none of use do – no matter what your inflated self-opinion is. But WE are entitled to our own opinions. It does not mean that we are stupid or morons, so when you do that, you’re labeling yourself.

L. Taylor

When someone claims that Franc brought this on themselves and “deserved” it, ending in “Fuck the French” they are an absolutely moron.

It is not simply they have a different opinion, it is that they are a piece of shit and a morons.

They are literally expressing the EXACT SAME MESSAGE AS ISIS. “France brought this on themselves. France ‘deserved’ it.”

Fuck the guys on this board saying that. They are dirtbags and Morons.

L. Taylor

Franc > France

they are an *absolute* moron

it is that they are a *pieces* of shit and a morons.

GDContractor

Try again Lars. When you call someone out for being “a morons” twice, you confuse your audience.

L. Taylor

“Confuse them”?

Confusion is a perpetual state with dumb shits like them.

Thunderstixx

Hey Lars, I thought you took your ball and went home because we were being big meanies to you…

Derek

Shut up. Shut. The. Fuck. Up. Seriously. Stop. You are a NVA-I. Non value added individual. We had a guy or two like you in our unit who were quickly placed elsewhere due to the inability to shut up and just do.

sj

Wonder if ISIS (or ISIL as Dumbass calls them) has jumped the shark with Paris? Will the Euro’s (and us) realize that many Muzzies are out to kill everyone…including Muzzies that aren’t Mussie enough? Will the Euros (and us) get serious?

I wouldn’t bet on it. They will say we need to be nicer and they will leave us alone.

Ex-PH2

The use of ISIL instead of ISIS, which is what THEY call themselves, is an indication that Cameron (UK) and his pressies and bodaprez and his pressies can’t possibly take that group of murdering thugs seriously.

We see the same tendencies in ourselves that we see in them, but we want to deny it because we’re better – aren’t we?

The real battle is only just beginning. I think there is a lot more to come.

Dammit, I just wanted to spend my retirement writing and painting and shooting pictures, and these useless walking ads for birth control just had to come along and wreck that for me, didn’t they?

As mentioned above, I think carpet bombing several areas is a good idea. Just do not hit the Kurds. They’re the good guys, remember?

L. Taylor

ISIS calls itself “ISIS” when using Western acronyms.

The reason Obama uses the world ISIL is because that word is regarded by senior intelligence officials and experts as a more accurate way to explain ISIS geographic activity. Not all choose to use it because it is unfamiliar to most people but the term is often used by briefers to help the audience understand that the region ISIS is trying to gain control over and currently has operations in is larger than areas of Iraq and Modern Syria.

The “Syria” in “ISIS” refers to the territory of old Syria, not modern Syria.

Levant refers a large area of the Middle East that made up much of the territory of the Former Caliphates.

So by calling ISIS “ISIL” in a briefing you signal that the area of concern where we are dealing with ISIS influence is larger than Iraq and Modern Syria.

L. Taylor

I wish we all just called them “Daesh”.

France does.

Thunderstixx

And if wishes were fishes, we’d all have a fry !!!

LIRight

“Daesh”….and so does our dumb as a stick POTUS!

L. Taylor

You comment did not even make sense. The president does not call them Daesh.

Why would you have an issue with it? It is an insult to them.

Sparks

Earlier posts noted this could be any U.S. ciy. I agree. In the last couple of days more than 18 U.S. aircraft, civilian airliners have been pained with laser light. Now I know ass holes with moderately powerful green lasers can cause a lot of upset and radio chatter by painting the cockpit of a passing airliner but 18 in one day across the country seems a bit odd. Also anyone who does not believe the same shoulder fired missiles such as brought down the Russian airliner recently are not here in America in the hands of radicals, is just not paying attention. Ten to fifteen airliners brought down at strategic points and airports would bring a high death rate and national panic in one fell swoop. I hope not but unless the admin gets its head out of its ass and stops hugging and kissing Muslims instead of vetting every one of them and deporting those with even a question of intent in being here, I fear it is coming.

Sparks

As for France. I don’t know enough of their immigration situation to speak intelligently. I do think as many as they have given haven to speaks well of their intent, however you can take a snake into your home and warm it up and feed it and treat it well but in the end it will bite you. It is its nature and instinct. The radical Muslim and even not so radical who are not willing to get involved in the fighting but willing to lend aid, comfort and finances to the radicals are by nature, nurture and religious beliefs doing the right thing in killing anyone not their flavor of Muslim. I do feel badly for the people of Paris. Non of those killed asked for it, they were innocent. It does surprise me, that since the previous attacks in France, they have not mandated more security at large gatherings like these.

Old Trooper

They were already at heightened security in France, especially Paris, and it made no difference. A well motivated bad guy can thwart security and when you have multiple well motivated jihadis, you get Paris last night.

SFC D

If you invite a pack of rabid dogs into your home, you shouldn’t be surprised when they attack. And when they attack, you kill them all.

Here ended the lesson.

Skippy

well said, quite simple too. to bad nobody in the political spectrum can see common sense.

Thunderstixx

As the events come to light this morning the only real thing I can say is that most of Europe is a gun free zone. The results of that policy are here and as evident as the war zones in Chicago, DC, Milwaukee and Los Angeles are. Those cities are gun free zones and they have the highest murder rates in the US. To me it looks like the terrorists missed the memo about Paris being a gun free zone… I’m not saying anything, I’m just sayin’… A few well trained and motivated soldiers can bring an entire country to a stop if they have a good battle plan and the element of surprise. It would appear that was primarily the circumstances in Paris. It is only good guys with guns that can put a stop to things like these when TSHTF. The old adage that there is safety in numbers is true no matter what Lars or any lib says, that is why birds flock and fish school. Since regular citizens with guns were not available it truly helped the death toll climb higher. Perhaps even two or three of those citizens with guns could have stopped the melee almost before it started. So, libs around the world over say that ordinary citizens could not hope to stop events like this from taking place, which is simply not true. If you hate guns refuse to have one and are an atheist and don’t believe in God that is your choice. But when someone breaks into your house what do you do? You dial 911 to have a good guy with a gun come to your house and pray he gets there in time to save your stupid irresponsible ass. Your whole philosophy of life has just been trashed in an instant and it is YOUR responsibility to provide for your own self and family defense, not the cops or society at large. If you or the French choose to ignore yours or their own responsibility for individual safety by having thousands or even millions of armed citizens the blame… Read more »
