Four arrested in school shooting plot
The sheriff’s department of Tuolumne County, California says they’ve arrested four Sonora high students who had been planning to shoot up their school. Some of their fellow students had observed some odd behavior and reported it to the school’s administrators, who notified the police;
While serving two search warrants in the case, Mele said, authorities found “evidence verifying a plot to shoot staff and students at Summerville High School,” which the suspects later confessed to in statements to investigators. He said the plot was detailed, and included a list of victims, locations and methods for the attack.
“They were going to come on campus and shoot and kill as many people as possible on the campus,” Mele said. “It is particularly unsettling when our most precious assets — which are our students, their teachers — are targets for violence.”
Authorities said the plot was in the beginning stages and no students or adults were hurt.
According to the officers, the four hadn’t acquired any guns up to that point. They also didn’t say what the motivation was for the attack but they hinted at bullying. There’s something wrong with a culture that teaches our youths to reach for a gun to get respect from one’s peers.
This story doesn’t bleed, so you probably won’t read about it in too many places today.

What ever happened to, “Meet me at the big Oak tree at 4.”? You fight and move on.
Simple answer to your question. It was removed during the attempts to remove violence from school. Now you are the victim of harassment and meet the bully after school, you are the one put in suspension or arrested for making threats. The inmates truly run the prison now.
Oak trees? Psssh, we had bike racks…
In 1997, I was an 8th-grader who’d been heckled and bullied by a pair of little assdouches for several years, when one of little cocksuckers, with his ass-buddy looking on, decided to shove me in the hallway as they did several times daily (among other indignities). This behavior had been observed and documented by school staff for all of that time, with no meaningful action taken. A couple of staff had tried to do something about it, but were barred from doing so by the school administration. This time, however, I’d had enough. My fuckwad tormentors had also failed to notice that over the past year I had grown noticeably larger than either of of them. So I recovered from the shove and promptly hockey-checked the little bastard into the opposite wall with sufficient force to leave him sprawled on the floor at my feet. The other one got the “deer in the headlights” look, while the first appeared ready to piss himself. My exact words at the point were: “Either one of you faggots* EVER touches me again, I’ll fucking kill you!” Ten minutes later, I was in the vice principal’s office being told that I was suspended and that my parents were being contacted. The bullies? No action taken. My Dad (who’s not particularly foul-mouthed or hotheaded in general) showed up and promptly asked (exact words), “Are you fucking shitting me? You fuckers are punishing my son for defending himself against bullies that you cocksuckers have fucking IGNORED for four years? Fuck you!” The vice principal, who was a petty little prick even in hindsight, tried to quote the “nonviolence” policy. My Dad pointed out that I had suffered repeated violent attacks from the shitbirds in question that had been ignored by the school and declared his intention to pursue legal action and contact the local news media. This prompted the Olympic Backstroke from the vice principal, who insisted that a “compromise” could be achieved. Dad’s compromise was, “No suspension for my son, and severe disciplinary action against the bullies.” My suspension was cancelled. Disciplinary action was promised… Read more »
Funny! almost the same thing happened to me in the 8th grade…a red haired kid kept picking on me, pushing etc…one morning, I had an argument with my mom and was in a real peachy mood lol…the punk started in on me and pushed me, I said don’t do that again…he did…and I coldcocked the little shyt, he flew back against a wall and slithered down lol with a shocked look on his face, I thought I killed him ha ha, I reached to help him up and his dignity was damaged so he jumped up and left….never did pick on me again tho!
Anyone want to take bets on whether they were middle-class white kids on Ritalin with bleeding heart liberals for parents?
Standing up for yourself does not include the use of ballistic weapons.
I wouldn’t say ‘bleeding hard liberals for parents’. I would say ‘disconnected parents’ instead, parents who don’t really communicate with their kids or tell them how to handle being picked on by idiots.
Well, lets look at it. Kids are told today that fighting is the worst thing you can do and you will be expelled, even if you are defending yourself.
So, most of these kids who are bullied to this point have no idea how to take or throw a punch but they do have a lot of anger they don’t know how to control. It’s a recipe for disaster.
Yeah, fighting in school isn’t good, but the idea that kids are being told to not fight back no matter what and that anything that has even a hint of ‘violence’ like making your pop-tart into a gun is double plus ungood is creating a culture for kids where there is no outlet for them.
Not only did this arrest save lives, but it prevented yet another AOL photo of people in tears opening their arms to hug one another.
And took food off of a dozen reporters tables.
From what I’ve seen of a growing number of reporters, it would hurt them to miss a few meals anyway.
What? None of the kids were military rejects? Not one???? How can this be??? Maybe the Army needs to look into this and determine their responsibility, “if any”.

“The four hadn’t acquired any guns yet…”
Oh but they were thinking about it. Quick! More gun laws!
Wish this was sarcastic, but it’ll be something we’ll hear in a few days.
This weekend I spent a very long day volunteering at a family friendly event. I saw ladies from 5 to 45 competing, but more than that, on the sidelines, I saw some serious family bonding. Talking to them, I learned that they are NOT what the mainstream media would have us think that a family is. These people are very “American”, and believe in all the old school ways of raising children to be responsible adults. I saw a boy testing his mom with some bratly behavior, and getting his butt warmed for it. I saw a 5 year old girl that handles her own horse, cleans the crap out of its stall, and can clean, load and shoot her own .22 rifle. Knowing the answer that I would get, I asked, in some way, of each of them if they were of the Conservative or Liberal persuasion, and found that they were all Conservative, family value oriented families. Country America still lives.
Apparently someone paid attention to the warning signs and took action before the SHTF. Even though they hadn’t yet acquired any firearms yet, they eventually would have, no amount of laws would have prevented it.
“There’s something wrong with a culture that teaches our youths to reach for a gun to get respect from one’s peers.”
Could not agree more…well said.
For several years in Jr High, my g’son was bullied. We told him, that given an opportunity to stand up for himself and smack some shit, if there was a fight, he could definitely end it. If there was any repercussions from school, we would have his back and stand up for him before any administration.
I believe he did end some fights, stand and defend others, and we never had to go see any admin.
THAT’S the way it should be.
Similar thing happened to my daughter when she rode the bus to school several years ago. She was bullied by a young man. One day he followed her home (he got off at a stop that wasn’t his) and she defended herself (she held a brown-belt in TKD at the time). We managed to get a copy of the DVD from the transportation department to see for ourselves what transpired on the bus and showed it to the school.
In any case, the school went after our daughter for fighting (they have a policy that suggests school “property” extends to the student’s home doorstep) and tried to suspend her from school for the remainder of the term.
We showed up for the hearing, and to their surprise, we brought an attorney who set the issue strait. (The school district had an attorney present, and they were a little taken aback that we showed up with one of our own). The school district reconsidered its position and readmitted our daughter and expunged her record.
And yes, I told her I was proud of her for defending herself.
Kudos on showing up with an attorney. Sickening to me your tax dollars are going towards prosecuting your daughter and by that her extension, your family, when the school district has it’s own attorney present to intimidate you.
Agreed. Awesome. Just curious, does their policy that suggests school “property” extends to the student’s home doorstep still stand, or did did they have to re-think that as a result of your action?
Happy endings are nice. Fighting on school grounds, let alone in school itself, was never okay. Meeting after school for a fight was standard fare for settling beefs. The schools have gone nuts with this zero tolerance crud, actually telling a student who is attacked to try to run away. I foresee the day when football, lacrosse, and wrestling are banned in schools. After all, how can a school with a zero tolerance for violence policy sanction violent sports?
Forgot hockey–it’s just not played where I am.
There was a time when if students got caught scuffling with one another, they were pulled apart and told to take it somewhere else. That was in the early 80’s in North Texas.
GDContractor: Can’t say for sure if the school retracted that policy. I recall that issue was mentioned in the code of conduct, but that was long ago.
Don’t buy the “I was bullied” excuse anymore than the “it was a clock” excuse. There are some smart little Asshats out there that have learned to use the “I was bullied” excuse and drum up all these phantom crimes committed against them by others; all I’m an attempt to deflect from the fact that some of these Asshats hate society and want to be famous. So instead of finding some new science or tech or being a sports star or using thier intelligence in a good manner; they plan this shit out and plan on being famous as the next Dillinger or the next Son of Sam. Look at the evidence from the CT shooter. He planned on a high body count he wanted to be number 1. There are other spree killers who have said they did what they did because they wanted to be number 1. That “i wad bullied” excuse was a good way out and got folks talking in the 90s, but the reality is that for some of these events recently the perps weren’t bullied and more than likely were bullies themselves. Social life questions? Again most of them came from stable or semi-stable (meaning that they were in divorce houses but the parents were nice to each other and were middle class still) homes. The problem is inside of these kids and it’s more than just random mental health issues or that drugs because the kids are acting out (which goes to a whole other rant about testosterone and boys and puberty and the need to learn violence vs defense vs rage; but we aren’t having that in today’s modern kumbaya education). Nope there are just some folks that are evil and those closes to them can’t recognize evil in thier offspring. That is either the offspring hide it well or its excused by the over diagnosis of behavior issues by a whole series of quacks in the social philosophy fields. Want to blame violent media? Please! The comic books before the code of the 50s, some of the radio shows and even… Read more »
And if they had kept their mouths shut and stayed off the social networks and actually acquired the weapons and arrived at school to do the deed, what would have happened? Bloodbath is my guess. There were multiple lessons to be taken from Columbine and subsequent school shootings but, by and large, they seem to have been lost to political correctness. How many schools in California permit teachers and administrators to be armed? Any?
Again going back to TX and the “clock inventor”. When you see something and say something and make a false alarm. The howling monkeys from the Internet come out to howl about stupid rules and stupid adults. Don’t say something and the howling monkeys of the Internet come out to ask why nothing was said and government wasn’t alerted. Damned if you do and damned if you dont.
