David Lawrence Helm; Air Force sex offender gets 25 years
David Lawrence Helm an Air Force Tech Sergeant pleaded guilty to desertion and “recording the private area of a woman” according to Fox News. The article says that he was accused of sexually assaulting a girl between the ages of 12 & 16, but some of the charges were dropped in exchange for the guilty plea. The desertion thing happened when he was supposed to show up for a court martial in May, but chose to go to Vegas instead;
A spokesman for the Nevada State Highway Patrol said Helm told a trooper that he visited Las Vegas, went skydiving and drove a high-performance race car as part of his “bucket list.” Helm was pulled over for having a broken tail light on his motorcycle. A search of his license plate turned up the fugitive arrest warrant.

Either way, you should consider yourself lucky you didn’t live 100 years ago – back then, your sentence would be to hang by the neck until you are dead. Something like 85% of Leavenworth inmates are sex offenders, and 70-odd % of them are child sex offenders. He will be right at home.
I love how enlisted members get their names blasted across the media, yet officers have their names withheld. I worked a court martial last spring on an Army Major who was raping all 3 of his daughters…in all the media coverage, his name was never disclosed, ostensibly to protect his family. He will spend the rest of his natural life behind Kansas concrete…I bet these 2 will love each other.
Not exactly. If that was the Jan 2014 case in Germany, media outlets voluntarily withheld publication of the low-life’s name to avoid identifying his underage victims (his children). Most of the time, that doesn’t happen – see the Burns and Sinclair cases from Fort Bragg, NC, this past year or so.

When I was in A-stan we had a dirtbag in my unit sentenced to 6 months in Mannheim and a big Chicken Dinner, it warmed our hearts when we heard they treat their prisoners like SHIT!
Also, FWIW: late last year the Army started releasing Army-wide summaries of court-martial results thru the Army Times. They seem to come out some time around the 20th of the month. Google “Army court martial results” and you can find them for this year thru July.

I give them to some local social workers so that they can see that vets with BCD’s and such are generally dirtbags.
Its tough to dispel the notion that all vets are good people and deserving of resources.

Agreed…but it aint whining if its true. Earlier this year I had a kid lose a stripe after being caught with proficiency test answers. Missile officers in ND get caught cheating, and they get raises. This makes sense in what world?

AMEN TO THAT, if a dog scars a child for life, it is put down. I think we ought to do the same with convicted pedophiles, they have THE highest recidivism rate over every other genre of criminal. Maybe “accidentally” leaving them alone among the lifers in a maximum security prison would be one way to thin out their numbers!
