Shooter arrested near Fort Meade
The Associated Press reports that a fellow suspected to be the shooter in several incidents yesterday on the Maryland Inter-County Connector was taken into custody;
The FBI believes the person in custody is responsible for shootings along Maryland highways, including one near the Fort Meade Army installation, which is home to the NSA, FBI spokeswoman Amy Thoreson said in a statement. She said no other information was available early Wednesday.
A person was taken into custody in Anne Arundel County on Tuesday night, county police said in a statement posted on Facebook on Wednesday morning from a verified account.
In two incidents Tuesday afternoon, someone fired on a truck on the Inter-County Connector in Prince George’s County, and one person was taken to the hospital after being injured by broken glass. Later in the afternoon and about 12 miles away, there was a report of shots fired along the Baltimore-Washington Parkway in Anne Arundel County; the NSA reported damage to a building nearby. No injuries were reported.
There have been several similar incidents recently in the Baltimore-Washington area and police had said they were investigating if they were linked.
WTTG Fox5 says that the gunman is a 35-year-old local resident;
The first shooting happened around 2:40 p.m. Maryland Transportation Authority Police say shots were fired on the Inter-County Connector and that say one vehicle was hit. One person was injured by broken glass after officers believe at least two bullets pierced the windshield. The vehicle waas driving near the area of Old Gun Powder Road in Laurel. Investigators said the shooter was either in a wooded area off the Inter-County Connector, or on the overpass.
A second shooting was reported near the National Security Agency headquarters around 5 p.m. Shots were fired into a building from along the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. No personnel were injured in the shooting.
In an online report, the Baltimore Sun said authorities were investigating connections between those two incidents, and three other incidents in Anne Arundel, Howard and Prince George’s counties.
Earlier, feds were looking for a light-skinned black male driving a Black Lincoln Town Car that they suspected was involved in the shooting.

I wonder how far that is from Wilson Lane. Maybe the undependable assassin got tired of being sent on all of those wild goose chases.
There was some confused report about this on the news this morning. The reporter said the truck was a yard waste-wood chipper truck – something like that.
Must have been hunting squirrels.
The truck that was shot on the ICC was for a landscaping company.
The Baltimore Sun is reporting that the suspect is thought to have been behind 5 recent shootings in the general area, with 4 occurring in the last 2 days. The shootings all appear to have occurred within approximately a 10-mile radius of the junction of I-95 and MD-32.

I will bet money that this douche will turn out to be a scumbag with a documented history of violent behavior and an established familiarity with the insides of the Maryland State Troopers’ holding cells, packing an illegally-obtained weapon. This will be followed by another call by libidiots for further restrictions on guns, despite the fact that the weapon was illegally obtained in the first place. Any takers?
Or someone else who almost graduated Basic Training 15 years ago claiming PTSD.
TOW, you beat me to it on the gun issue, but I also want to ask just how many other existing laws he’s violated so far? We DAMN sure don’t need more laws, the G-types need to effectively enforce the ones that currently exist.
Unless the suspect turns out to be sympathetic to O’s towel-headed friends, in which case the suspect’s actions will be Bush’s fault.
Carlton G. Long…If it does turn out that way, not terrorist activity, no way. “Highway place violence” is what it’ll be called by Obama. Gun grabbers will shout for “no guns on highways”.
Were any old Jaguars seen in the area?
Nope. Older model (late 1990s/early 2000s) Lincoln Town Car, if I recall correctly.
I wonder if Paul (Palmer) K Wickre is going to claim to be associated with this guy in a threatening call he’s going to make to Jonn and the others? 🙄
I wonder which one of us he’ll claim that was a warning to, they still haven’t found me, and I’ve been to and through MD plenty of times! 😀
Shooter has been identified as a 35 y/o man from Beltsville, MD. Weapon appears to have been a .380 pistol.

Great! Sentence him to time in the same facility where he was a guard. They’ll just love him!
Look at those windshield holes and tell me that was a .380? I’m having a hard time buying it.
Based on the size of the wiper, I would go with .45 caliber.
The guy is said to be 35, lives in a monied part of town, and was a correctional officer for less than two years. So, of course, it’s “former state correctional officer” arrested. Inquiring minds want to know what he was doing the other 33 years of his life, especially the past 15. God forbid it is later learned he walked past a recruiting station once.
Let me guess, recent religious conversion?
We think alike…
Though it is possible he is just another dysfunctional, violent knuckle-dragger.
Point taken, but from where I stand the difference is slim.
